I am in town visiting, & decided to meet up with an old friend for dinner. I told him to pick a place to eat, and he picked 1761.
So on Friday night we booked a table for 8:30pm. We arrived a little later due to myself getting lost, but were seated about 8:45. By about 9:15, our orders were in and we sat talking, and I enjoyed a refreshing glass of Rosé. However after about half an hour of waiting on food, the server came over & informed me that the kitchen had told her they didn't have the Goat cheese to make my order (I ordered the Goat Cheese Money Bags) , this was quite frustrating. Considering it's a main, you would think she would know already that they're out of goat cheese, she brought me a menu to choose something new and then stood over me, making it seem like I needed to pick something quick. Finally at about 10:15-10:20, we received our food. My second choice was the Wild Boar, it came with bread and a mushroom gravy style sauce. It was decent, it should have been piping hot and really wasn't, making the meal as a whole mediocre. My friend and I both agreed that whilst it was cooked well and tasty, the temperature ruined it.
We ordered desserts too, quite frankly that was the best part of the meal and it still wasn't 100%. My friends cheesecake was tasty, and my bread budding was lovely but again could have been hotter.
Overall our experience wasn't the best, we were not checked on very often nor did we get our food on time, and the restaurant really wasn't busy for a Friday night.
I would consider giving it another a try as it may just have been an off night. read more
