Hello, is there any female enrolled or the classes are mostly for males? Thanks

Hello Carla, My apologies for not getting back to your question, I didn’t realize my Yelp account was off. Yes, there are females in both the 6pm and 7pm classes.

Gosh, where do I begin? Of the handful of dojos in the SJ area that practices full contact karate,…read morethis has to be one of the best. I attend the adult classes and the timeframe works very well for me. I've been out of martial arts for 10 years with a background in tae kwon do and within months I was able to totally reconstruct my fighting style to the needs of not just karate, but possibly kickboxing and mma for the future. The dojo is great, not to mention the nearby amenities that you can enjoy too (Subway, Popeye's, and a convenient gas station to name a few). If you are Japanese/Japanese-American, have Japanese-American children, or want to learn Japanese then look no further since Sensei Motoi and Senpai Jun bring a little slice of Japan to the South Valley so you, your family, and friends can keep your Japanese language skills sharp. It's a family-oriented community that will bring smiles and laughter among the sweating and yelling. I moved to San Jose in the Summer of 2019 and my only regret is not joining them then, my second regret is not making the time to go to all the adult classes uninterupted. As I leave the country to start a new life soon, there's nothing I will miss more from San Jose than the friends and experiences I made from attending Yusei Kai. Expect to push yourself physically and challenge your own limitations to reap the benefits of this practice that few can truly become a subject matter expert in. And trust me, your body might be sore, you might be out of breath, you may be overheating and dripping with sweat, but you will be grateful you did it to the end. Thank you for having me, until we meet again. OSU!

The instructors are excellent role models and come from diverse backgrounds, bringing valuable perspectives to the students. I've loved watching my boys grow in confidence and character since starting. Coach Apple has built a strong long-term system focused on real growth, not shortcuts. We highly recommend Primetime to any family looking for more than just a martial arts school.

Five Stars - Warm, Supportive, and Community-Focused!…read more This gratitude post is long overdue for Founder and Coach Apple Morris and her incredible Primetime Martial Arts staff! I first met Coach Apple as a troop leader for a Girl Scout troop in South San Jose. From the start, she went above and beyond, creating beautiful custom bags and donating fun supplies for each Girl Scout--a meaningful touch that made their journey with us even more special. Apple's generosity didn't stop there. She opened her studio to host a troop meeting where our scouts earned their Courageous and Strong petal. This unique, hands-on experience empowered our girls to grow, develop important skills, and gain confidence. At the end of June this year, something truly special happened: my daughter officially became a member of the Primetime family. She had been looking forward to joining Coach Apple and her team since attending that Girl Scouts meeting more than a year ago. By the end of October, my daughter had her first belt test. She was promoted to orange belt, and we can't wait to see her continue to grow, which I can confidently say is because of Coach Apple and her staff. Apple and her team consistently go above and beyond--creating meaningful experiences, fostering growth, and supporting the community. Their expertise, patience, and kindness make a lasting impact. They open their hearts through holiday food drives, fun gatherings, and fundraising events, truly creating a family-like environment. Every time I watch the coaches with the students, I am impressed by their skill, dedication, and the way they nurture every one, meeting them where they need to be at that point in time. We are so grateful to be part of the Primetime Martial Arts community!

While the location is serene and all the members super friendly and encouraging, don't let that fool you, you'll get get a great workout and learn some cool moves along the way! Sir Greg is a phenomenal instructor that really takes the time to go over details of the techniques he's teaching; he encourages students to watch the demonstration from all different angles to ensure they understand the technique and works with different body types to show the beauty and effectiveness of the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He and his "higher belts" (Brown and Black belts), walk around and help give pointers during practice. There is also always ample time at the end of class to get some practical sparring in to solidify what you learned for the day. Many members are eager to "roll" (what BJJ folks call sparring) and, depending on your level, are willing to have a more guided, gentle roll or an all out contest of skill and athleticism. The environment is equal parts jovial and fun as well as studious and competitive. Super family friendly too! They have class for children for as young as they can still pay attention for hour with some guidance (haha). I have personally seen some somewhat timid or uncoordinated folks, much like myself haha, really come into their and get comfortable in their bodies and be able to move and act with total aplomb and poise. Definitely give them a try today! You won't regret it. :)
