I joined CCK 1 yr ago today :) so this review is long overdue! To get started, there's an intro class with Coach Tammy (DON'T SKIP IT!) to go over the basics. Pad work classes focus on striking, conditioning for endurance, and a separate weight area for strength training. There's also a yoga, BJJ, and judo class to round out one's training program. Early morning, lunch, and evening classes to fit most schedules. Location is convenient, right off 101/880. I'd actually had this gym bookmarked for years. Every December, I'd tell myself it'd be a "new year's resolution." But I'd overwhelm myself with negative self-talk and my anxiety would get the best of me. Finally, my mindset shifted from "wow I wanna be able to do that" to "I can learn how to do that." Showing up, and at this gym, was one of the best decisions I made. Corny as this may sound, CCK is a family that welcomed me from day 1. I'm grateful for Coach Ed for creating such an environment. He develops competitors and champs, and those of us who don't have that competitive spirit and just want to see how good we can get are welcome here as well. Here, I'm able to cultivate discipline thru consistency, which enables me to better show up in my personal life. Killing my ego while developing confidence encourages me to trust myself and my decisions again. I am a beginner and had a great solo trial training session. It was a good workout. I have been looking for a boxing/ kickboxing gym that's the right fit. Just to give a general impression of the class I saw, there seemed to be a joking/ ribbing/ clowning vibe. Unfortunately, as I came into the big room, a group of people in the class looked and commented and laughed at me. If that's something that doesn't bother you, then cool. I noticed some weird things like that here and there between people. As I finished and left the boxing ring, two girls hanging together referred to me as a "slut". While I was training in the boxing ring, the owner/Ed I guess came over a few times, and one time he said that I was doing great "sweetheart". Maybe it was just this particular class, but I personally felt that this just was not a fit. read more

One of the best kickboxing gyms in the South Bay thus far. Staff is super friendly and so are the members. I started 2 weeks ago, and have no regrets. Stumbled across this gym just through Google search since I wanted to find something close to home. They have lunch time classes which works out perfectly for my schedule. The coaches all take the time to correct your form and show you proper technique so you don't injure yourself. This is not just a typical workout class, don't get me wrong, you will definitely sweat, but in a way, it sort of feels like you are also getting 1:1 lessons as well. read more

If you're looking for a gym that has good energy and good people, this is it! I've always had kickboxing in the back of my mind, but never gathered the courage to try until recently. A colleague recommended this gym, and I couldn't be more grateful! It can feel intimidating because it's tough for me to follow/remember combos, but it's a work in progress and the coach will come help you out and I've had other members help me get the combo down. All in all, just so much good energy and don't worry about being new because everyone is at different levels and everyone knows that. I bought a Groupon and it was well worth it!!! I throughly enjoyed each class and coach. I was only able to attend two weeks out of the month because of personal circumstances. I'd definitely want to continue attending CCK because I can tell it's a great community and the workouts are stellar! Coaches are incredibly friendly and approachable. They are patient and kind. Improvements (I'm very honest and hope that it's not seen as disrespectful or rude. It's just things I noticed as a customer): - highly recommend updating website or Yelp to include prices because I don't have time to hop on a call to hear a price and wait a few days to find a common day to chat over the phone. Plus I wanted to recommend my friends and some cousins to CCK but when they asked me how much it'll cost on a regular basis I had no clue. I shouldn't have to talk on the phone with someone to get that sort of basic information. It almost felt like depending on who you are will depend on the price you're given? Not sure but the price should be important information on a website! - definitely not covid safe. There's a lot of sweat and contact with other people so if you're concerned about this, I recommend not attending classes. I attended two back to back classes and didn't see them wipe the mats after the class or the bags. Regardless of the above suggested improvements, I'd still consider coming back once my travels slow down. read more

Let me start off by saying WOW! The instructors, classes, and gear at this gym are magnificent! If you're a beginner like me, you'll start off with the beginner class. Coach Brian will teach you all the basics. He pays attention to every individual assuring their stance and form are correct. The instructors won't make you feel bad for not knowing something. It's like the twilight zone here! Everyone / the staff is extremely nice and considerate! Shoutout specifically to Coach Boogie, Coach Ed, and Coach Bryant. Three things matter most to me in a fitness community: 1. Cleanliness 2. Friendliness / Positivity 3. A kick ass workout w/ good music CCK is absolutely one of, if not, the best Kickboxing gym I've ever been to in the Bay. Do not go to ILoveKickBoxing or one of those gimmicky gyms where they play whack music and you don't really feel like you squeezed in the most effective workout in that one hour class. You'll come in smiling and leave sweaty...but still smiling!! They will make it a point to call everyone by name, and have been addressing me by name since the first day! How do they remember everyone's name? I'm not sure but that's some wizardry (or they've been teachers before.) You can tell they really care about keeping their gym in tip top shape, make sure it's super clean (especially during a pandemic), and keep it really Professional but also are super friendly. Boxing can be intimidating to those just starting out, but don't be scared! :) They welcome folks of all levels - whether this is your first kickboxing class or you're a seasoned boxer, you'll feel right at home. It's okay if you can't keep up at first because the coaches will come up to you and help fix your form or show you what the combo is. This place is amazing! I've been coming here a few weeks now and every time I come in I have a great experience! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable! They are able to keep the atmosphere positive before and after class and all while training/ conditioning you! It's been about 6 months since I joined, and I can already see a huge improvement in my techniques. The new location is pretty awesome too. The new place is way more spacious than before, and they added some new classes as well so there's something for everyone. I've been going here for a few months now and enjoy the workouts from the kickboxing and weightlifting classes! For kickboxing each hour class usually has 5 minutes of warm up, 10 minutes of strength training with weights/body weight followed by 40 minutes of glove/pad work and 5 minutes of cooldown. It's a little intimidating if you don't have any experience however the coaches will take time to walk you through each motion and they also have an intro class on Mondays. You typically pair up with someone and if there is an odd person then you have an option of using the boxing bag. In the beginning most people I partnered with were nice about teaching me the sequences and technique. I recently started the weight training classes with Coach Darren who focuses on good form and endurance. It's a great way to learn proper technique and mix up the workout options with only kickboxing. I like how he approaches his sessions for brand new folks by identifying the right maximum weight first vs. other gyms/classes I've seen that just have you figure it out on your own. Each coach has a different style and depending on the class you'll get a mix of no pad work, pad or muay thai pad work and less/more technical boxing technique. They also have early morning options (6:15am), afternoon (11:30am) or evening classes (6:00pm and 7:15pm). read more

I started here in 2021and the coaches are very helpful and knowledgeable on how to guide you with your strikes and weight lifting. I did the weight training classes and the Muay Thai pad kick boxing . It's really worth it if you're looking for a good workout conditioning. If your a beginner, the coaches ,if they see your unable to correct your moves, they'll work with you if you want to do a one on one session. I remember once I came in for class, and I didn't know how to properly wrap the hand wraps for boxing and Ed the owner came up to me and helped me which was very helpful of him to do so. I've been a member for over 5 years now. This has been a life changing experience for me. I originally started via Groupon and was hooked by a text message from coach Ed asking how I was doing shortly after the Groupon expired. It wasn't a sales text but a genuine reach out from him, as he truly cares about his members the same and hopes to help everyone he can. Ed has a heart of gold and it stems throughout his members and fight team and creates a fun-welcoming experience for new and tenured members on any level. Members genuinely love to help the newbies get hooked just like they did. Be forewarned that this is an addictive workout and you'll quickly find yourself going 2-3 and then 5 times a week. The classes mix in heart pumping-conditioning with fun skill based kickboxing. The classes go way too fast but leave a pool of sweat on the mats. Can't say enough about all the trainers and gym. It's not easy to find technical Muay Thai training in the Bay Area. Coach Ed is an amazing Muay Thai coach and pad holder. Training with him feels like I was back in Thailand 10 years ago when I used to compete as an amateur. Now I am a mom and a lot slower but still, I still want to train like it was 1999 :). I've been wanting to try kick boxing for a while and it always seemed intimidating to me until today. I met with Coach Ed and he had such vigor and genuine happiness while coaching me throw same basic punches and kicks! I have never been to a kickboxing class! I feel like I've tried everything fitness related except for kickboxing mainly because I felt intimidated. Coordination is not my strong suit lol. 5 months in and an update! Everything about this place is awesome! Coaches are great, all the equipment is clean and new, classes are fun where all the coaches are always mixing in new techniques with conditioning. Typical class consist of warm up with active stretching followed by drills, partner workouts, Thai pads, paddles, etc and ends with cool down stretching. Coach Darren Barrera's sat morning classes really sets the weekend rights! Every technique he teaches has a logic and strategy and he takes time to explain that. During the drills he walks around, softly correcting or recommending better way to throw a combo. Post class too he hangs around for any questions and explains and demonstrates with great passion and patience! Same can be said about his weekday weight lifting classes too! The morning weekday classes are a perfect start to the day! The focus on fundamentals and conditioning is to the point! Coaches Brian To, Luciano, Boogie and all other coaches (I apologize if I missed out some) are awesome and there is always something new that i learn in each and every class and from each of the coaches! Exactly 8 years and 1 day ago, I took the Level II test here. I was the fittest I had ever been! A year later, I moved for a new job and had to leave CCK. I'd been back in the South Bay for about a year and ran into Coach Ed at the mall. He greeted me like eight years hadn't gone by, and I remembered all the good moments (and intense workouts) I had at the gym. He asked me to come back. So I did. Took my first class tonight (Thai pad training -- yes I did that to myself lol) and damn, it felt like coming home. I partnered with Luciano, who coached me through the patterns. After the first 3 min round, I thought I was smoked. But he encouraged me and let me know I could take breaks. He also graced me with some amazing kicks! I discovered Condition and Competition Kickboxing through a Groupon promotion. After reading other positive reviews for the gym I decided to give it a try. I found this gym to be very inclusive and adaptable to a variety or ages, fitness levels, and abilities. Coming in with no prior kickboxing experience I wasn't sure what to expect, but found both the coaches and peers to be very helpful and encouraging as a learned. I liked that the gym offers kickboxing classes as well as strength and conditioning classes. The gym facility itself was nice and always clean. There are restrooms and a changing area, however water is only available for purchase and there are not any showers. I would definitely recommend to anyone who may be curious to give the gym a try. For the past year, I had been considering going back into kickboxing as a way to stay active. Through a friend's recommendation, I purchased a Groupon to try out CCK for a month. The month is almost up, and I must say, it was probably the most valuable Groupon I ever purchased. #wortheverypenny One of the aspects that I love most about CCK is the friendliness and inclusivity of the staff. I noticed that the coaches make it a point to learn your name and remember it. It gave me a sense of belonging from the very first day. They are very encouraging and supportive during class, making sure to walk around, correct/improve your form (if need be), or cheer you on; in turn, I never felt anxious or intimidated about asking for help whenever I was confused. Even though they have been around for almost fifteen years, the space and equipment seemed to have maintained their cleanliness and tidiness. None of that musty gym smell here! No need to cringe as you hesitantly use an item in the space, wondering when it was last cleaned/disinfected. Lastly, how can you get a good workout in without some good music? Don't worry. Last summer, I got a generic gym membership and let's just say it wasn't very successful. I'm not an athletic or sports oriented person, so figuring out what to do during a workout is a struggle. Groupon led me to Condition and Competition Kickboxing and I'm so glad that I decided to start here. Initially I was really worried about the rigor and environment since I haven't exercised seriously in years. My worries were quickly dispelled by the organization and coaches. As a beginner, you are required to take an intro class that walks you through class expectations, etiquette, and foundational moves. This sets you up so you aren't lost during the classes. There are several classes that you can take throughout the week according to your own schedule. While the coaches change class-to-class, all of them are great at leading the session and clearly demonstrate their passion for kickboxing. They keep you motivated and make sure that you sweat hard during your work out. During exercises, they usually walk around and give pointers to help you maximize/improve your technique. This gym is the best thing that came out of COVID. Below is a list of why I love Team CCK 1. Cleanliness- They keep the gym very clean. All the equipment is wiped down after each person uses it, even during drills. 2. Safety- Safety of all the members and the staff are their number one priority. There are temperature checks. Lysol spray on your feet before walking into the gym and sanitizing stations every few feet. Bags a separated with dividers. You do not feel compromised in any way. 3.The workout- Talk about an amazing workout! I feel so amazing every time I leave there. It's an Incredible compilation of strengthening and conditioning and power. Every class keeps you wanting more. 4. THE PEOPLE The best part of this gym are the people, staff and members. Coach Ed is way more than a coach, he's a motivator, a kickass positive person that you want to have in your life. He pushes you in ways that you can't imagine you would ever be. Kickboxing is a very intense workout that involves a lot of coordination and moves. It's complex and he's very patient to help you get the right combos together. Great teacher and great coach. He really cares about you as a person and is an outstanding character in terms of how he runs his business. He wants you to progress and tries to figure out ways to help you get to your goals.
