There was no one there to greet us when we arrived and no one at the desk when we left. We never felt welcomed - the staff was not particularly friendly and we felt like no one cared we were there. Our room was awful - the bed was uncomfortable as were the two chairs in the room. It was incredibly hot with no thermostat to control the room temperature. Our door was not sealed properly and the light poured through the door at night. Breakfast was a joke. For fruit I got three blueberries, two grapes and a half a strawberry with a half a slice of bread. Our coffee was lukewarm. Our eggs and toast were not cooked properly. It was so bad that even though we paid for two nights, we left after the first night and forfeited the cost of the second night. If you are going to Edenton, stay somewhere else.

February 9th 2021 I signed a contract with the Inner Banks Inn for a wedding that was to take place on April 9th 2022. I also paid a deposit of $4,950.00 to hold this wedding date. April 20th 2021 (only 2 months after signing the contract) my engagement was broken and I formally cancelled the wedding event with Susan Cyr, who confirmed receipt of the cancellation. Upon cancellation Susan stated they would attempt to rebook the date since it was a YEAR away. I was told if the date was re-booked that I would receive a refund and that if it was not rebooked that I could use the deposit funds toward a "girl's weekend." While I called and emailed many many times I never received any follow up on how to pursue booking a "girl's weekend." This business has had 3 managers (Jennifer, Linda, Lindsey) I've spoken to (they get a new one every few months), and Susan has never called me back. I would like a refund of at least half of the amount I paid, I'm requesting $2,475.00. I also have proof that I do not believe they attempted to rebook the date in good faith. My brother in law, reached out in February of 2022 to confirm what dates were available in April of 2022 he was not provided the April 9th date as an option until it was specifically asked for. I've tried calling and email so many times but never heard back from Susan. She's treated me terribly, and I don't want anyone else to experience such heartache and financial loss should things not go as planned.

We were booked into the inn by a client who wanted to make our first visit to Suffolk a memorable one. The home is a true Southern belle - a grand dame of historic mansions. It has been so lovingly restored and is perfectly appointed. We had so much fun exploring every inch of the home and absorbing its character. The proprietor (and very talented chef) Ruth has mastered the art of hospitality, inviting us to truly make the home our own. She didn't mind one bit that we planted ourselves in the reclining leather chairs in the stately octagonal library with another couple and yakked enthusiastically until the wee hours. After a blissful night sleep, breakfast the following morning was a marvelous affair. We prepped a coffee for ourselves at the Nespresso machine (fantastic!) and meandered around the grounds until the heavenly smell of baking croissants lured us to the elegant, light-filled breakfast room. Usually an eat-and-run proposition for us, we lingered for over an hour enjoying the delectable food and the conversation with the other guests. The charm of the house and its gracious owner had worked its magic - we were refreshed, satiated and inspired. We departed with great reluctance but the spirit of the Truitt house hung about us for the rest of the day and onto the next as we traveled home. You do not want to miss this unique and unforgettable travel experience - 5 gold stars!!!

The mansion, built long ago, has been restored and updated in every category. I've stayed at lots of B&Bs to find them "charming but in need of modern updates." This place has that without losing its original charm from 1909. Because I'm here for work, I'm purposely spending all my time at the house when not on location and I love to be able to move from study to library to the atrium and other rooms in order to read and for a change of atmosphere. Every room is unique and has a story. You'll love Ruth who will make your stay feel like you've come home to the family estate. Breakfast is made to order and she loves knowing what you like. Casual and comfy. Two words to describe the experience in this amazing, palatial mansion.

Between Water and Main - Beaufort King Bedroom

I found this gem on Yelp! Thank you Yelp!…read more It's a beautiful bed and breakfast, and the owners have exquisite taste in furnishings and decor. We stayed in the Beaufort Suite, and I slept like a baby in that huge comfortable bed with such soft linens. I love that we could control our room temp because we like it cold at night, and the unit cooled down quickly and quietly. The bathtub! Oh my! I want one of those so badly! We were there only one night, and I took two baths. The entire bathroom is stunningly gorgeous, well lit, and so spacious. You had hot water within seconds of turning the shower on, and it didn't cool down even a little bit. The Inn is located at a perfect spot, as it's a quick walk to everything you'd want to do in Belhaven. There are condos directly across the street which block the water view, but a vacant lot next to those allow for a beautiful view. The breeze coming off the water is wonderful. Happy hour was a nice treat, and enjoyable. Gail and Alan are great hosts, easy to chat with, and also interesting to converse with. They really do make you feel right at home, and act as if they've known you forever. (Don't worry though, they also leave you alone if that's what you prefer.) They have a great outdoor area to just sit, or swing, and enjoy the peacefulness of this quaint town. We loved our stay there.

Booking was easy with friendly service. Arrival was contactless and we never met or saw anyone during our stay of three days. The cottage was on a second level with a flight of steps which as a surprise because I had not noticed that from pictures. It was fine for us but might be difficult if traveling with someone with mobility issues. Inside, everything was so cute and clean and they had anticipated our every need. The kitchen had coffee, snacks and cereal and the fridge was pack with delicious breakfast items and treats like fresh backed goods. The yogurt appeared to be homemade and was delicious! The bed as comfortable and the rain shower was delightful. They even supplied the bags for our dogs potty trips. The main inn was unoccupied during COVID so we had the beautiful back yard garden all to ourselves. The view of the water was blocked since the cottage is behind the main house but the town docks were very close by, just a very short walk. Because of COVID, a lot of the restaurants in town were closed in the middle of the week but there was enough available for our needs. We visited in September 2020 and it was just what we needed, a quiet get away after working 7 days a week since March. We loved it and highly recommend it as a nice, quiet place to get away and have your every need thoughtfully met.

I learned that E-City is home to the single largest US Coast Guard Station in the US so...it made sense when I saw all the service people in their unis. The staff here is exceptional, very friendly, professional and motivated to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Unfortunately, this is probably the roughest Hampton Inn we've ever stayed in. I want to be fair because the staff were all friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. We have absolutely no complaints about the people working here. The property itself, however, is in desperate need of a refresh. The carpets were stained, the bathroom felt dirty and worn, the soap dispenser wasn't even full, the walls were scratched and scuffed throughout the room, and the overall condition made the hotel feel tired and neglected. It simply doesn't reflect the standard we've come to expect from Hampton Inn. To make matters worse, the room rate was nearly $200 for a Sunday night including taxes and fees, and that didn't even include the additional pet fee. This was just for a basic king room. We regularly stay at a comparable Hampton Inn in Virginia Beach for about the same price, and that property is in an entirely different league. Based on the condition of this hotel, the value just isn't there. I sincerely hope the owners invest in renovating this property because the staff deserve a hotel that matches the quality of the service they provide. With some updates and better upkeep, this could once again be the kind of Hampton Inn travelers expect and appreciate.
