Everything was new and immaculately maintained, and I enjoyed the galley kitchen. My biggest caution is for the mobility impaired. A very steep staircase leads to the loft bedroom. I decided I didn't want to risk stumbling down it if I had to go down to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Instead I used the pull out sofa in the tiny living room. It was not very comfortable but it did the job. On the plus side, there are breweries and a pizza place in the converted mill next door, so we did not have to hunt for dinner! Interesting experience but one time was enough for me. Ps if booking through a third party app, you may not receive the code to unlock your tiny home. Not to worry. We were initially excited to get two units for a week, but the poor state of the units and the lack of ability to coordinate with the management rates 2 stars. We had a total of 10 people staying in the units and only had five towels total per unit for the entire week. Understanding COVID restrictions, however the dryer in the unit did not work so we were forced to bring to buy our own towels. There were also not enough utensils or plates or pots to cook daily meals, nor was the staff responsive to requests for help. At the end of our stay, the manager Matt Sheely, promised that he would refund $75 for the dryer being broken in one of the units, but we never received the refund - even after three conversations with Mr Sheely, seven unanswered voicemails, and two conversations at the supervisor level with Asha. As a retired veteran, I'm very disappointed at the level of disrespect and poor service provided through the MWR program.

Hubby saw the website and thought they updated everything so decided to book for our anniversary. Big mistake. The website has the usual bait and switch stuff. We check in, got the EXACT same unit we had 3 years ago, and it's the same old and nasty unit. AND IT SMELLED ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! There is no way that housekeeping did one ounce of cleaning and didn't smell that odor! These are notes I made along the stay. Was supposed to be there Sun to Sun. We left Fri. very unhappy. Posting new pictures and you will see the same nasty tables in living room (no change or cleaning since 3 years ago???) - baby sock in dryer (washer/dryer not in unit. You have to go outside and downstairs to an unlocked room that anyone can walk into) - old 32" tv's in the rooms (not smart tv's) couldn't stream and the color so bad on one that everything was blurry - broken chairs - thought the bed in the second bedroom much bigger than the master bedroom so we slept in that room...discovered it was two twin beds pushed together and made up as one bed - ice-maker didn't work - every border in unit is FILTHY. One in the bedroom we slept in has red sticky substance that obviously was a spill. - housekeeping fees paid for what? - noticed two red spills on carpet in living room. We rubbed it just to see and just where we rubbed you can see just how filthy the carpet is. - dishes put up - dirty - pots oldddddd - refrigerator shelf on door broken - dresser/chest in master bedroom OLD and broken - took glassware out to cook and it was dirty. Took me half a second to actually wash it. How does housekeeping put dishes up for guest to use without making sure they're clean. WE PAY FOR HOUSEKEEPING . I was working about 20 miles NE of New Bern, and was looking for options other than (a) the $100+/night hotel chains in New Bern or(b) a longer drive to Havelock for a room more in the company's acceptable expense range. Fortunately my internet search found the Zieglar, with rates at least $20/night less than the New Bern chains and comparable with Havelock rates. I stayed in the 1940.s themed room. Frank Sinatra photos and album covers are featured on the walls, along with other 1940's stars from radio, movies, and sports. Other rooms have as themes the 1950's, 1960's, Elvis & Marilyn Monroe, and even a Goth inspired room. Here's was impressed me. The room had all of the modern conveniences (hdtv, microwave, small refrigerator) but also included a DVD player with several movies in the room, and about eight books. I opened the drawer of the writing table and found a 1940's edition of LIFE magazine. The bed was comfortable with sheets having a colorful design - not your typical white hotel sheets. The towels and other linens were a higher quality than what you would find at most hotels. The heat/AC unit was a newer remote control design, and along with the ceiling fan kept the room comfortable on hot humid summer days. If I were looking for a comfortable quiet place where I want to indulge in a good book or two for a few days I would definitely suggest the Ziegler. Don't think it would be a good choice for a family on vacation on the business person needing a place for business meetings, But - if you want a quiet place that isn't your run of the mill lodging room and at a reasonable price - give 'em a try!

One shower had such low water pressure it was completely unusable. The dishwasher was broken for the entire week, which meant hand-washing dishes for 14 guests, three meals a day, for seven days. That is not what anyone signs up for on vacation. The house itself was not properly cleaned. There were cobwebs on multiple surfaces, visible rust throughout, and an overall neglected feel. For the price we paid, the condition of the property was unacceptable. Customer service was effectively nonexistent. We reported the issues, and nothing meaningful was done to resolve them during our stay. There was no urgency, no accountability, and no effort to make things right. Also worth noting: reviews appear to be filtered, showing only glowing feedback. Based on our experience, you are not getting the full picture when you read the listings. For the amount of money these homes command, expectations should be much higher. We would strongly recommend considering another rental company. You've been warned. Terrible consistent reviews on TrustPilot, Yelp and many other pages. The feeling is clearly unanimous and Twiddy clearly does not care.

Decorations from a previous party were still present, there was hair and dust throughout the home, a comforter was stained and greasy enough that we felt compelled to wash it ourselves, and even underwear from a previous guest was left in one of the bedrooms. A drawer in the bunk room was broken, and a dirty used towel was later discovered in one of the beds as well. As additional family members arrived, we discovered even more serious issues. Beds contained dirty sheets with hair in them, some linens had clearly not been changed, and the twin beds were missing mattress pads altogether. The condition of the lower-level bedroom was particularly concerning. The room was musty and appeared infested with spiders, making it unsuitable for use. As a result, my sister and her adult special-needs son slept on the couch for the entire week rather than use the room. We expect spiders in North Carolina, but this was to an unusual degree. The rest of us couldn't get up and use the living room or kitchen while they slept there. Just unacceptable and really frustrating. I was also extremely upset that after I specifically declined housekeeping, members of the cleaning crew came to the property anyway. This occurred while my six-month-old niece was napping. Having people come to the home after being told not to do so was unacceptable especially after we had cleaned the home. You can't make it right by inconveniencing us even more. The ship had sailed on cleaning and preparing the home for us.. we were already there and did not want to be interrupted by cleaning that should have already been done. The problems extended beyond cleanliness. My mother chose not to sleep in one of the downstairs rooms due to spiders, and neighboring properties hosted loud parties that continued late into the night. Had we known this was a senior-week environment, that information would have been helpful when selecting a rental property. When I spoke to someone at your office, they said they do not allow parties. Your process is not working, because there was a party house the week prior. The pool guy expressed how grateful he was that we were not like the tenants from the week before. Instead of focusing on time together, we spent much of the week dealing with cleanliness issues, sleeping-arrangement problems, maintenance concerns, and repeated communications about conditions that should have been addressed before our arrival. The property never reached the standard we expected when booking through a professional rental management company. The home was not represented by its condition, and the overall experience fell far short of reasonable expectations. See attached pics. There are many more... UPDATE: They never discussed a refund... they just sent us back the cleaning fee of $384 and ghosted us. They think that makes it all better. We had one unusable room and guests who had to sleep in the living room/common area and the place was a pigsty. We have rented in OBX before... use any other rental company! We've been going to OBX for years and this is not normal service. Brindley Beach is excellent.. Twiddy... just steer clear of Village Realty. And if VR manages your home to rent out, you may want to consider switching. They do not treat your tenants well.

We called multiple times and someone did come out, but the guy told us the owners needs to have the sewage cleaned more often and it's never done. This happened 3 different times while we were there. I expected a call from someone , anyone, to follow up.... I even messaged a requested a call from management multiple times ... was told they would call me, but after multiple excuses over a week passed and I never received a call . I did get a text saying they'd refund us $500 which is nothing in comparison to what we paid and the disgusting issues we had to deal with .

I'm naming the property because I wish I had found the reviews on independent sites before we booked. The home had significant cleanliness and maintenance issues upon arrival, including an ant infestation, dirty/stained furnishings, severely rusted outdoor furniture, and a pool area continually covered with pine needles and debris. The advertised tiki bar and second-floor patio area were effectively unusable for our entire stay because of the condition of the furniture and bug infestation. To Brindley Beach's credit, after repeated complaints they eventually sent management, housekeeping, pest control, upholstery cleaning, and other personnel to the house. However, most of this did not happen until the fifth day of our seven-day vacation. Their own housekeeping representative identified additional cleanliness problems beyond those we had reported, and the rusted tiki stools were ultimately removed but never replaced. After our vacation, we requested a reasonable partial refund--not a full refund. Brindley Beach refused, stating that the home remained "habitable" and citing its rental agreement. They did offer to reimburse us for pest-control and other supplies we had to purchase ourselves. What is especially frustrating is that Sounds Amazing appears to have overwhelmingly positive reviews on Brindley Beach's website. After our experience, I searched independent platforms and found significantly more critical reviews of both this property and Brindley Beach that I wish I had seen before booking. My advice: research the specific property on independent review sites before booking through Brindley Beach and don't rely solely on the reviews displayed on their website. Our vacation rental was absolutely not the experience we expected based on how this property was represented. Brindley Beach is a never again for us. We had to make a nuisance of ourselves to get their attention to come fix their poorly maintained property. I feel bad for the owner who is probably paying them good money to take care of his property.
