Stopped here on my first night ever in Houma, and super glad I did. Lionel's raw and chargrilled oysters are as good as I've ever had anywhere. I follow this up with a couple lbs of beautiful late season crawfish. Perfect dinner and great first impression to this gem of a place.

Delicious crabs and shrimp

Loved this seafood spot and the team working was so personable! The quality of the seafood was beyond what I anticipated and the hospitality was just a sweet icing on the cake, I can understand why it's loved by my local family! The crabs and shrimp were cooked perfectly; full of flavor and extremely savory. This was my first experience with After the Boil Soup and I was not disappointed. It's a soup that is made up of the all the fixings from the bottom of a boil and they drop it in a creamy goodness of a concoction. Finger lickin' good!! The chargrilled oysters were also very good, I just have a personal preference of not having bread crumbs on top of it! Highly recommended and would absolutely keep coming back when we visit! Thank you all for the wonderful service and for practicing social distancing in the restaurant!

Fried alligator is delicious! Must try. Some of the best I've had in Houma.

Ate here 2 nights in a row while I was visiting with family in Houma. First night the food was wonderful. 2nd night, it was good flavor still, but shrimp was a little over done since it was the end of the night, would still go back though because the food and service is definitely worth it. Only suggestion is to not use mustard in the soft shell crab batter.

Crawfish

Crawfish? Damn good. Fried shrimp? Damn good (prob needs little more seasoning though but that's just me, still great though), fried soft shell crab? Amazing. Service? Pretty good. Ambiance? Not too noisy, easy to have a conversation.

Oyster on half shell

Oyster on half shell were awesome! Fresh and salty. Had the Trash Basket. All fried seafood was great. Not fond of the catfish. Still had silver skin on some of the portions. It needs to be thinner filets for me. All in all pretty good. Definitely will return. Friendly staff. Perfect Cajun setting.

Boiled crawfish

This is a fun family friendly restaurant that offers most of your favorite south Louisiana fair. Sadly, they didn't have crabs when we were there, but the shrimp and crawfish were delicious! Be sure to save room for their bread pudding! It is nothing to skip on!

Fried alligator bites with cheese
Tara B.

Me and my daughter split the fried alligator bites with a nacho cheese dip which was an odd combination and the alligator was chewy and not seasoned well. Not sure why it's served with a processed cheese dip because it surely doesn't compliment the alligator at all. The dirty platter (large seafood platter) was just ok. Everything lacked seasoning and the fried soft shell crabs were a big disappointment. For an appetizer and an entree which we split, and drinks we spent $52. I waited quite a while before I got a second drink.. no free refills. The waitresses were more interested in talking to each other than worried about the customers which I only saw 2 other tables in the whole place. I won't be returning here. Not impressed.. my daughter wasn't either. She said she didn't like it and she loves seafood.

Get ready to let the good times roll when you walk through the door, the sign above the counter…read moresays "Welcome to Cajun Paradise, I'm with couyon" being born and raised in southwest Louisiana I can definitely get the meaning in the correct context, I can also recognize authentic Cajun cooking when it's put down in front of me and mais sha let me tell you these folks are doing it proud. We stopped in here for lunch and ended up with a sampling of what in my opinion is probably the best example of cajun food done right in Houma and for miles around - everything was delicious and the service from Sarah L was outstanding. We started with the Charbroiled Oysters served with toasted french bread, the plump Louisiana oysters were succulent and dipping the french bread in the cajun butter became an obsession, definitely a must do starter - I wasn't leaving here without trying their chicken and sausage gumbo, perfect texture and complex flavors it will make you a believer, my hats off to the chef, definitely authentic - the fried catfish filets and jumbo fried shrimp platters were outstanding although we didn't do it these are the foundation of an amazing po-boy (maybe next time) - all the sides were exceptional from the fried okra and onion rings to my personal favorite the skillet fried potatoes and who could leave without a few beignets served hot covered in powdered sugar - what a meal they should have a place to lay down in the back for a "cajun nap". In my opinion if you craving some authentic cajun dishes you can't go wrong here, the portions are nice and the prices are very reasonable. Our schedule didn't allow us to return as we had planned but will definitely return when we are back in the area...

Solid place for Cajun fare (tons of options), fairly priced, good service…read more We got the crawfish etoufee, seafood gumbo, friend catfish with sides of hush puppies, cut corn, and potato salad, and bread pudding. All food was solid. Seafood gumbo was particularly good. Definitely worth a visit if you are passing through town. For any Midwesterners, you may find the potato salad a little bland. Was expecting a bit more but it was okay. Next time I would skip and get a different side. Most locals seemed to order 1/2 pound of boiled seafood.
