Pretty Good place. Kind of off the beating path on Barrow St. If you're near the convention center it is convenient. Decent food and a nice ambiance. We had the Gumbo, The Trash basket and the Half boil which consisted of half Crab and half Shrimp. The gumbo was good with a tasty roux and a decent portion of seafood. The trash basket is this HUGE mound of fried seafood deliciousness and placed over a huge bed of fries. Perfectly fried seafood and the bacon wrapped shrimp were "slap your Mama" good. Only thing off I thought were the soft shell crabs. They weren't cleaned right and the water inside made the batter just slide off and left you with this soggy, kind of gross under cooked soft shell crab. The boiled crab and shrimp were good. They use what seemed like their own blend of spices instead of the store bought bags. All and all everything had a good flavor. Extremely expensive for seafood, especially with all of the choices in the area. A nice place to eat, but value for the money won't see me returning. read more

I Have to say, this place is back to its old roots. There boiled crawfish is the Best in town hands down. The have amazing grilled oysters, fried frog legs and other caju specialties. Sat solo at their small bar. Friendly bayou guy behind bar shucking fattest oysters I've ever seen. Had to try a half dozen ... they were fabulous. Next, I went for a bowl of gumbo. I hit this place twice when I was in Houma on business from Houston. It's close to the new Courtyard Marriott. 1921 is probably my favorite seafood spot in Houma, but I haven't fully explored the city. I got the dungeness crab and peel & eat SCRIMPS special... man, soooo good. You could tell I was out of town though, because all the locals were eating NOTHING but huge platters of crawfish. I just really wanted some crab. After a long day of work, the crab, SCRIMPS, and a bottle or three of Abita is a good way to wind down. Great food and great service from wait staff. But don't sit a party and not warn them a 4 piece band is coming and their amplifier is going to be on us. We had a 9 year old with us who did not need to be exposed to that loud of music being right on us.It was so loud we couldn't even enjoy a family dinner and prayed they were going to take a break so we could finish our meal in peace. I feel like an old lady writing this review, but that is seriously how loud the music was. What started out as a fun dinner, pre band, turned into a nightmare. Never coming back. Slow service, bad food, bad prices, bad drinks. 1. Our waitress was new (so slow, understanding) but when I asked her to describe their "Crawfish Juice" specialty drink she couldn't explain it. I asked if it was maybe like a bloody mary? She agreed, so I ordered it. It ended up being like a rum punch, which is almost opposite of what I thought. When I brought it to her attention they were still going to charge me for the drink plus the new drink I wanted. P.S. the margarita tasted like only sweetened lime juice. 2. The menu prices were ridiculous. My friend got the Crab Stuffers and paid almost $20 for two stuffed crabs (which were not good) and maybe a handful of fries. 3. The crawfish were mainly fine but a lot of dead ones. The raw oysters were not salty and not good. 4. There was a table of drunk customers being very loud and obnoxious and who I assume was the manager was watching them but never said a word when obviously they were disturbing our night. read more

Blooming onion appetizer is also pretty solid as well as their fried seafood items. One of the few places I've been to that doesn't fry oysters too long and that's not easy to do. The stuffed jalapenos should've really been named crabmeat stuffed jalapenos. It was suuuuper good. I totally searched for a recipe already to duplicate it.The fried calamari was just fried calamari with the dipping sauce which I cant remember what it was. After the boil soup was really good. Never had it but now I will attempt to make it after I attempt to make the best tasting crawfish boil (even though its the only crawfish boil I've ever had). Now, lets get to this amazingly crazy good crawfish boil. Where to start.. let me fantasize about the taste of it first. Mmmmmmm **drools**.. Ok ok just a bit longer.. Alright alright I'm done. The taste was perfect. You can taste the cajun, the spicyness, the celery, the bay leaves, all the goodness, oh my! Seafood is good and prices are reasonable. I travel for work so I always make it a point to try the local fare. Beer is all bottled, no draft. Not s huge deal but draft beer makes a different for me. Main thing is the service. Waitress was nice but very short. Not in a rude way just strictly business.. Almost like she's in a hurry or something. I would definitely come back here for the food and atmosphere. With even "average" Chili's quality service it could be a 4-5 star. I took my wife and my daughter to eat, when we walked in at 8:30 pm there were only two tables with customers eating and the two waitresses were talking with them, we sat for 10 to 15 minutes and no one came to our table to take our order or offer us a drink, when the waitress finally took the time out of her conversation to serve us,they were out of onion rings, after boil soup and soft shell crab, we decided to leave and go eat somewhere else, this was the worst experience I ever had. This place is so hit and miss. Just ate there and the Shrimp and crawfish was over boiled. They were out of butter and potatoes. When our food was brought out with out the potatoes they said they won't discount it because the potatoes were complimentary. Eat here at your own risk. But if there is a problem. PLEASE DO NOT spend your money on this place. My husband, son, and I ate there last night. 2/19/19. My husband and son ate the crawfish 2lb. Special. The crawfish, were excellent! That's about the only redeeming thing about this whole place. I ordered the "trash basket" which was named absolutely perfectly, because that's EXACTLY what it was! It had 1 fried softshelled crab, 6 fried shrimp(I substituted fried oysters for shrimp, and still only got 6), fried oysters, 4 fried fish pieces, 2 tiny bacon wrapped fried shrimp, and a palm sized piece of toast on a bed of french fries. The softshelled crab was very small, and inedible. I went to take a bite and immediately spit it out. It tasted like the crab had previously been spoiled and was fried anyway. All the fried food on the plate was different temperatures. The crab was the hottest because I'm sure they fried it when I ordered it, but the rest of the seafood was warm, but tasted like it had been fried earlier in the night, and had been just reheated. The fries were cold, and hard. I sent back the crab, and they took it off the bill, but the waitress wasn't happy about it, and asked "are you sure" when I explained that the crab tasted spoiled. After that she never checked in us again, except to receive payment. She did however, consistently check on the other patrons that had been in the restaurant before us that we not eating but ordering glass after glass of alcohol. We will never go back, which is sad because the decor is excellent for a cajun themed restaurant, and that night, so was the boiled crawfish. Bill was still $64 for 1 seafood platter, 4lbs. Of crawfish, and 3 canned cokes that were non refillable. read more

Great boiled shrimp and crawfish. Their set up feels like you are sitting outside on a patio or someone's porch, not inside a restaurant, picnic tables included. Really poor service. This is not because of the wait staff, our waitress really hustled and was delightful. Idiots run the kitchen. Char broiled oysters take 20 min you can't organize a meal because food comes out in drinks and drabs. Terrible management. So disappointing I have to give just 2 Stars. In the last 2 days, I've eaten here 2x. The first was yesterday I dined with a friend and we each had a dozen raw oysters in the shell and the trash bucket. Today I did another dozen oysters and boiled shrimp, potatoes and corn. Both times the oysters we're great. Big, fresh and cold. The trash bucket was bland at best. All batter the same and no flavors...the fried oysters taste not much different from the shrimp. Just a lot of same flavor. The shrimp tonight though were by far the WORST shrimp I've ever eaten. I say again I really hate saying that but it was truly that bad. Shrimp that's WAY overcooked to the point where you try and take the heads or legs off and the entire shrimp crumbles. Maybe it's because I asked for Crawdad's out of season (sorry didn't know) but that shouldn't have earned me shrimp that had been sitting and soaking for hours and still had no flavor. So disappointing cause had i not had it to go and realized this sooner I would have sent them back. read more

If you want good seafood this is the place! Charbroiled oysters are a MUST for starters. The boiled seafood here is very flavorful and perfectly cooked ( crawfish is my favorite but my wife swears by the shrimp). This place can get busy but service is always friendly! Love this place! read more
