We decided to try SushiRo while in town for a wedding. The restaurant is clean with beautiful decor. The staff were friendly and we had amazing service. The food is very reasonably priced. My husband got his food and finished it and I'm STILL WAITING for shrimp fried rice!! Tables around us that came in after we did already have their food and it was a full tray of food and they are almost done and I still do not have shrimp fried rice!! Upon arriving I was seated promptly and the waiters were attentive. The establishment was clean and the decor was typical of a sushi/hibachi restaurant. I ordered the spicy tuna dinosaur eggs which are a perfect lunch meal. The eggs are on the appetizer menu. The tuna is high in protein, the avocado has healthy fats and the dish as a whole shouldn't have much sugar, except for the sauce, which appears to be a spicy mayo and eel sauce. I decided to get the fried calamari as well. It was in a lightly fried tempura batter. It was accompanied by a sweet and sour sauce. The batter was soft and fluffy. I really enjoyed it. So, this wasn't my first time here. I have had the fried asparagus and tuna pizza off of the appetizer menu. The onion soup and house salad are good as well. As for rolls, I have had the Mexican, Rainbow, Red Dragon, Philly, LSU, spicy Girl, and Lobster Bomb, and have enjoyed them all. My wife doesn't eat anything raw, so she almost always gets the Pinke Lady, which is deep fried. My daughter doesn't eat seafood, so she will usually get chicken hibachi and she enjoys that. As of this review, and as far as I know, there isn't any other Japanese style restaurants around here. The closest thing is Houma or New Iberia. read more

The service is always amazing. Never takes us long to be seated. Kid friendly, they have highchairs and the servers always make our daughter smile. The food is amazing. I'm vegetarian so the vegetable hibachi or the vegetable fried rice were what I ate. They have a good amount options for everyone. Prices are very reasonable for quality and quantity. I love how they season everything and it's a good amount because my toddler enjoys it too. The sweet and sour sauce for the spring rolls is really good. The edamame needs a little more salt for my liking and the fried asparagus was also a hit with the sauce it came with. It is tastefully decorated and has a friendly vibe. read more

I am a California native who was afraid of trying sushi or hibachi in a little town like Morgan city but I was pleasantly surprised with SushiRo. The chicken and steak were tender and seasoned well. The vegetables were full size and not overcooked. Lobster was also cooked perfectly. We also customized the Avalon Roll (not pictured) and it was made to perfection. All the seafood was fresh and cucumber was crisp. Waiter was also very attentive and the restaurant was clean neat and nicely decorated. The only area for improvement would be the dinner salad, it needs fresher green lettuce and make ginger dressing a little thicker. SushiRo was my hero read more

Been coming here for a few months to take advantage of great lunch specials while working in the area. Morgan city has some wonderful fried and boiled seafood but I get hungry for sushi as a healthier option and sushiRo fills that need. Food was good, but booth was terrible. Installed crooked!!! Was not impressed with wait staff. Had to get our own take away boxes.

Went to grab a bite. Parking lot was about half full and there were plenty of empty tables. As we walked in, there was a group of disgruntled patrons who were upset because the hostess called guests who showed up significantly later than they did with an equal number of people. My wife and I asked to be seated and the hostess said it would be "15 minutes". I asked if we're really just 15 minutes due to the prelude that unfolded before us when we entered and the hostess said that he didn't know because he tells everyone that it will be 15 minutes. Disgusted with such a BS answer we left. Food is good but policy will prevent me from going back. read more

The manager was extremely rude after I peeked my head around the corner to let someone know they had two separate parties waiting at the sign that says "PLEASE WAIT HERE AND OUR HOSTESS WILL SEAT YOU!" No one wears a hairnet but they carry the trays on their shoulders and hair is flying all over the place!!! They never came to clear our table but brought our appetizers and food while leaving dirty dishes!!! I'm done eating here!! It seemed to be a place that would be relaxing and enjoyable but I have to say I have been disappointed too many times. The hostess situation is a bit confusing, because you're asked to wait to be seated by a sign on the wall, and the hostess is nowhere's to be found. Then when you tell someone you haven't been seated yet, you're told that they're too busy to seat you in a restaurant that's only a quarter full. read more

We make a trip to Morgan City two to four times a year. My wife and I brought my daughter and granddaughter. We loved the food and service. The sushi was fresh and the dinner plates large, reasonably priced and tasted good. They have plenty of choices to choose from. The restaurant and restrooms were clean and pleasant. My daughter and granddaughter went back tonight because their meal was so good and they wanted to try something new. We recommend this place. read more

Maybe it's because it's new or because I set my expectations too high, but we weren't impressed at all. I moved from Florida and we ate at a lot of Japanese steak houses were the shrimp, steak and chicken seemed to melt in your mouth and the rice was...well, normal fried rice that's hard to mess up. We all thought the shrimp was very tough, the steak was good but not particularly flavorful and the rice was just different. It was a formed mass of rice unlike anything I've ever seen and tasted odd. Not bad, just odd. I've heard other people mention the rice since our visit so it's not just me. I want to go back and see if it was just an off night or because they were new, and I want them to be successful and do well, I really do. We need this restaurant, but it's going to have to be better than my first attempt. read more

We were in town for a funeral and decided to take suggestions from friends for dinner. We wanted to keep business in town because it is obvious they needed it so soon after a hurricane. This restaurant was was highly recommended. We had a large group (group of 8). Apparently, there was a misunderstanding about the meal we ordered for our 9 year old. We were charged for an adult meal, when we ordered off of the child's menu. . When questioned about the bill, she became very defensive and corrected us telling us "No, you told me...". Again, we're from out of town and are not familiar with the menu. She proceeded to argue in a very unprofessional way. She argued that she had a long day, and she's tired, but when we were seated she told us she was hoarse because she went to the Jellyroll concert the night before. We drove 4 hours for a funeral and have no sympathy for her. She proceeded to snatch the check out of my husband's hand and told us "fine, I'll just take it off of the bill if it's that big of a deal". As she walked away, she said under her breath that her 6 year old can eat an adult meal. She came back, and slammed the check back down on the table in front of my husband. He asked her if it was a communication error (which she said herself), why is he paying for a meal he didn't order and then she gets an attitude with him. She started grabbing plates off of the table, which we weren't finished with and almost hit my face with the plate. She finished clearing plates off our table without even asking if we were finished and told us to have a "blessed" night. She started clearing the table behind us letting us know that she was mad as she slammed each chair on the table. As we walked out to leave, she gave us the biggest, most sarcastic "have a blessed night" I've ever seen. It's a shame because the food really was great. The service was not. We had a table full of kids with us to witness the whole situation. She chose to argue over $14 instead of receiving 20% in an 8 top. I guess it was more of a pride thing than anything else. I've worked in sales before, and I would absolutely expect to be fired if I acted in that manner. She even complained about the Entergy men being in there buying all the beer and being so loud. This business is EXACTLY what this little town needs! I understand now why locals drive to Houma to eat. If this is the kind of service that I received in town, you best bet I would take my business elsewhere. I wanted to call the manager to complain, but apparently the waitress is the manager. So, I will be calling the owner on Monday. We visit family frequently, and I'm sad to say we won't be eating here again. read more

We order from Sushiro frequently and also eat there. However when ordering to go the food is nasty. Unseasoned and flavorless and steaks is usually overcooked and tough. When we eat there the food is good. After about the eighth or so time this happened I decided to call and complain. I was told they would give me my money back or a credit. So today I decided to give them another chance. I called in my order from the parking lot and waiting to go in to get it. First off, they didn't have the note for the credit on my previous order so a manager was called. Instead of giving me the credit he discounted my food 30% and I was told the girl who gave me the credit was no longer employed there. Anyhow, I paid for my food and left. Sitting to eat my food when I got to work my food was nasty, still unflavored and the steak tasted like I was eating the grill and overcooked as usual. I called them back and asked to speak to the manager again. A lady answered and was rude. Made every excuse in the book. she suggested that if I like the food when I eat there to just eat there and not order take out. My response was the quality of the food should be the same whether I eat it here or take it out. As I said before this was not the first time with them but I like to be fair because everyone has a bad day. However, after today I will not visit this establishment again.
