This courthouse is truly a maze and if you walk in the main door which fronts on Iowa Street then be prepared for a maze if you're looking for the Clerk's office and some of the courtrooms... My suggestion to navigate this building a little more easily is to go to Iowa Street then turn on South Magnolia and go to back of courthouse and enter thru a more open entrance that puts you right by the Clerk's office and navigation will be much more manageable... ample parking in the back plus they have a gravel lot you can use plus another gravel lot off of Iowa Street. Haven't had the opportunity to check out the courtrooms themselves but when I do I'll add a postscript PS Coming in the back way, yeah I said it, puts you right by Courtrooms #s 1 & 2. Gotta do the metal detector dance to get into either of these rooms so I figure they're mainly used to handle the criminal element.... to get to Courtroom #3, which I was in recently, you work the rat maze backwards to the front doors.... smallish courtroom but it has aged nicely... the funny thing is the spectator benches look uncomfortable as hell but oddly they are extremely comfy

You walk in grab a number, take a seat and wait for your number to get called. While you're waiting they give you a clipboard with a form to fill out to keep things moving quickly. Then, when they call your number you can just go up hand the lady the paper and she can just enter the info. in the computer. I think we only waited like 7 minutes. They've definitely got their system running good. The staff was nice and courteous and we were out in no time. It's definitely worth the drive and you can also swing by Tony's Seafood since it's right around the corner.

Wow, I have never been here nor have I ever heard of it until I received an invite for a piano…read morerecital there. It's a fairly large venue space perfect for small-medium scale functions. Think high tea with scones and tidbit plates with the chandeliers brightly lit. Unfortunately, it wasn't set up like this, but it doesn't hurt to visualize, right? When I went, the venue was set up with rows of chairs and 2 grand pianos up front. Still quite lovely. It definitely could use a few updates, but not too many because it will take away from the historical feel of the space. I am not sure what else this space is most used for, but it's nice to know that it exists because I'd love to let more people know about it! It's definitely a hidden gem in downtown Baton Rouge.

This is a beautiful public library…read more The have a nice big parking lot, as you enter there are metal detectors as there are no weapons allowed inside. The librarians are all very attentive and helpful, and it is kept very tidy. We ran in to use the fax machine, but were swept up speaking to a friendly librarian who told us about all of the story times they had and all of the wonderful programs they have for the kids. We will definitely return.

They have makerspaces here at this branch, sewing/embroidery , etching, and so many other things. I love to garden and I saw they even have seed swaps and classes from guest speakers. If you are looking or community the library and EBRPL system as a whole does a really good job at connecting others. It feels "old school" but def a cool space. Also the building is very nice and modern, so its totally a win win.

So much to do! The…read moreweather this particular morning was so rainy but it cleared up later. So I wanted to get the boys outside to play & run off some energy. We attended the River Center Library's children area. It was so nice & very spacious with various stations. We colored a few different pages, played at the kitchen set & assembled a puzzle. There's even a iPad with a game of the day & a larger digital activity table with various learning games for toddlers too. My 3yo spent most of the time playing a game matching shapes. The staff was super friendly & helped us navigate whatever we didn't understand. We're currently potty training & used the bathrooms which were super clean & kid friendly. There's an outdoor terrace that's available on the top floor but was closed due to weather. We look forward to visiting that part this weekend.

Another I love about this library is the safety and convince. At the doors there are security like pillars and you can even drop off your books at the slot outside. This location is very convenient for me because I live close to the area. I like how it isn't too big, like the main location, but it is easier to locate what exactly you are looking for. Now with the age of the Internet, I have to be honest, it is not often I visit a library. So, again it was nostalgic experience. This library is huge and I love their kids section! Yes, we will be visiting more often. I like the thought of "renting" books because it's nice to not to have to always buy them. My daughter was so excited to see so many books and it was funny to hear her say "can we buy this book"? Throughout the year, they have live performances - dances, plays, storytimes, etc. For adults, there are quiet places to read and mellow out. Will I be visiting the library more now? Of course, I will, now that I'll be living a bit closer to one.
