Oh 1Rebel, you beauty you... what is there left to say, really? This boutique fitness studio has given me some of the best beatings of my life... I'm in love. First off, they are on Classpass. But if you are like me, 3 sessions per month (or 6 between both locations) will not be enough. So go get yourself some more. Next, book yourself in for a Ride, Reshape, Rumble, and Rounds class... possibly in that order. Possibly all with Jamal. Ride is 1Rebel's answer to spinning: high quality bikes, ride to the beat, music I later add to my Spotify playlists... sweat it out on a Saturday morning and feel amazing about yourself afterwards. Reshape is HIIT and not for the faint of heart: 45 mins of intervals between a treadmill and weights, you will finish drenched in sweat feeling like you have conquered a small island nation. It's seriously so powerful. Rumble is not offered at this location, but if you want to punch a real punching bag really hard, do that at Broadgate. ROUNDS and Double Shot are some 60 minute combination of the above and are my personal favourite.

1Rebel is easily one of the coolest gyms I've ever been to. The vibe in this place is amazing and full on luxurious. So yes, it's very high end but still incredibly relaxed and just über cool in all aspects! The entrance to the gym looks inviting, almost like you are walking into a club. The moment I walked in I was greeted by a lovely girl in the reception who gave me a short info package on how the facilities work. Then she handed me a pre-heated white towel embroidered with their logo. This towel is to be used after showering so afterwards you can wrap yourself in warm towel bliss, mmmmm. But this is only the first temperature of towel available; at the gym itself you have a sweat towel as well to use during the workout and in the locker room you can find a black Smeg fridge with chilled towels to cool down after the training! How awesome is that? There are two kinds of classes to choose from. There is RIDE and RESHAPE. Ride classes are cycling classes and if you are looking for something new and exciting they offer RIDE LIVE which is a cycling class with actual LIVE music! That is insanely awesome!!! I can't wait to try it out! In any case I chose RESHAPE which is a 45 minute long intense whole body exercise. In the gym you are designated one treadmill and one bench full on dumbbells. The class is very tough but that's the way I like it! I will definitely be going again. The showers are just heavenly. The raindrop shower head and the lovely 1Rebel shampoo, conditioner and body wash make it so relaxing and nice that I felt like soaking in there for the rest of the day! After you shower you can pamper yourself to all the products imaginable at the vanity mirror and table provided in the locker room. Feeling peckish after your session? No problem :) Roots and Bulbs is located upstairs. Roots and Bulbs provides natural, whole foods, cold pressed juices and superfood smoothies. Also 1Rebel offers lunchtime sessions that are only 30min long and include a free lunch. Sounds expensive right? Well it kind of is... but it's well worth it. There is no contract, so it's a pay-as-you-go gym which I like and you can buy a single session for £25. If you buy more they are cheaper, like for example 4 session is £88 and £10 sessions is 200 and so on. But the first session is free so I urge everyone to give this place a try ;)

Classes are so fast that they are a recipee for bad posture and injury. Still fun to try a few sessions but not for being a regular gym

Oh hey there, new location of my favourite fitness spot!…read more It's a bit odd that this 1Rebel is only a few blocks away from the other one in the City, but I live and work nearby so I'm not complaining. If you've been to the St Mary's Axe location, you'll know what to expect: classes and instructors that kick your ass, a gym shower that may be nicer than the one in your own home, plus lots of other bells and whistles like 3 different temperates of towels, lunchtime protein shakes, and non-lame music. This particular location offers Reshape (HIIT between treadmills and weights) and Rumble (get your wraps and gloves on and work your aggression out on the punching bag), but no Ride. If you want to feel some serious pain, I recommend Rounds, which is a Reshape plus Rumble hybrid: run with your wraps on and feel like a badass. I feel so good after a class here, I don't even feel bad about how much it cost.

The Boxing style class is almost like working out in a club. You go in and everyone has their own bag, the instructor is in the middle and the lights are low and there are strobe like lights, then all of a sudden you hear LETS GET READY TO RUMBLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, and youre off! The instructor goes through the class in different boxing techniques as well as hiit exercises. You go from uppercuts to mountain climbers and burpees. It is not easy, but the instructors are super encouraging, and you just keep going. I never thought I had anger management issues, but man does it feel good to smack that bag! Overall it is an entire body workout and expect to feel it the next day. Besides the amazing workout they have the most gorgeous bathrooms and changing facilities. Super clean as well as stocked with great bath products, straighteners, hair dryers, lotions and potions. You pretty much only need to bring makeup and a change of clothes before work which makes it a much lighter gym back. I have not, but there is the option to pre order a protein shake following the workout. If you want to get your Mike Tyson on in a luxurious gym, this is it.

She is a real asset to OTF Aldgate, and her Instagram skills are second to none! The manager of the studio is Julie, and she keeps the place running like a well-oiled machine. She is a hands-on manager, and you will often see her at the front desk and mingling among clients. She represents the studio and the orangetheory brand well! Marius and Meite are fabulous instructors, and both will motivate you to achieve personal goals you don't think you can achieve on your own. I consider them both friends and greatly appreciate the effort they have put into helping me achieve my personal fitness goals. For those not familiar with orangetheory, it is a 5-zone heartrate interval training regimen that is truly the finest workout I've ever done. The changes in my physical appearance, athletic performance and overall health are beyond amazing! There are not enough superlatives to describe what orangetheory has done for my health and appearance. They offer a free workout, so there is nothing to lose if you don't like it. But, if you are like every other friend I have convinced to go, you will quickly become the addict to the workout that I am! An hour investment of your day gives you so much in return.

It's back to BUSINESS people, I'm on a mission to be more fit than I've ever been in my entire life. Yes, I know... this will severely affect my yelping. :( GymBox is pretty nice... if I were to compare it to a restaurant, I'd say it's one of those trendy restaurants you go to for the nice atmosphere and cool decor. With that said, becoming a member comes with a price. Back in the states I was paying $30/month for a 24hour Fitness Super Sport. Right now, I'm paying about triple. How ridiculous is that?! Which is why I decided that GymBox will be my second home and I better get a bangin' body as a return on investment. Overall, you've got all the basic machines, free weights, boxing ring, and a variety of classes for anything you could possibly be interested in. You could literally spend an entire day in here and cross into multiple areas of fitness from MMA to dance to yoga to Muay Thai, etc. I've been to the Bank and Holborn location, and I prefer Bank. I believe the cardio machines at Bank are newer, however, the space is more cramped at this location compared to Holborn. On the surface, GymBox seems to be all clean and tidy and there are always people cleaning. There's so much to do here, you just have to GO and DO IT!

After work, I can pop over to Bank or Old Street Locations. On my days off, I can go to Stratford Or Westfield..and there are other locations as well. Service - every time I've had a qualm or question, they've been very proactive and helpful about fixing and addressing my issue straight away. Experience - Very good overall and definitely worth the money. Probably some of the best classes any gym has to offer and great teachers who really go the extra mile to communicate with you and help you reach your goals Lastly, can I just say, I purchased a locker for the first couple months when I was only at one gym and one night, I absent mindedly left my stuff in the locker and the locker undone. I came back the next day to find everything right where I left it and even my locker still there (though unlocked)! This did it for me in terms of trust and service. Excellent gym! I'd 100% recommend to everyone!

Regardless of the time of day it is way too crowded now - even at 6am on Friday and 5pm on a Saturday you are queuing for machines. I have been a member for a number of years and in the last 18 months there has been a significant influx of people joining, I suspect due to the various short term offers that have been provided to try and persuade people to join the gym over competitive gyms that have opened round the corner as well as the other Clapham branch closing meaning all those gym goers now all go to the one gym by the station. Despite letting Fitness first know I wanted to cancel before my next renewal date and obeying the cancellation clause, I was told to pay for an extra month's worth of membership in order to cancel my contract. It's been a real shame the way they handle cancellations - I have been threatened with third parties collecting money if not paid by a certain date and daily emails from the branch offices telling me to settle up. It has now got to the point where I have been scared into paying another £85 even though I have not visited the gym in 3 months. I've tried the Beginner Reformer class and TenHIIT. Reformer was was an hour long, small group: only about 4 people in the class, but I still would have liked a little more personal instruction. TenHIIT was an even smaller group: only 2, me and one other girl, in the class. Our instructor tortured us with a variety of strength and cardio circuits: weights, squats, lunges, jumping jacks... repeat x4 then onto treadmill sprints, TRX arms, burpees, plank... it was 45 mins of *tough*. Really, it's just like having a personal training session but on Classpass.
