Amedisys Compassionate Care of The Villages, FL, pitch a 5-star rating, however, they are less than…read moretransparent and less deserving. In our initial in-person meet interview, we told them our mother helped to open The Villages Hospice House and that if the time came, she would like to pass there. Compassionate Care rep smiled, but never mentioned they aren't affiliated nor that they don't have their own hospice house, nor that they aren't affiliated with any hospice house at all. Deceitful. When our mother suffered an early morning major stroke while an at-home patient of theirs and was non-responsive, they said she didn't qualify for hospice house given her vitals and that we should hire 24/7care. They helped to clean her and provided morphine that morning, however, they provided no swabs for us to administer morphine, no incontinence pads, or any supplies necessary for her condition. Astounded, I called the hospice house in The Villages late that night to see if they had a bed, at which time I was told Compassionate Care had no affiliation and our mother could not be a patient while under Compassionate Care. We fired Compassionate Care the following morning, at which point, they insisted they bring a hospital bed (we said, "no") and brought supplies at 4pm, 2 hours before her transfer to The Villages Hospice house - as if to make sure they could bill that day. They are a for-profit company and it was a blaring badge of utter disgust at a time we needed true compassion and care. [FYI, The Villages (Cornerstone) Hospice on Morse Blvd was extraordinary in their help to execute paperwork, transport, admit and care for our mother where she passed a few days later. They also offer in-house care. Had we known, we would've hired them to begin with.]

Visiting Angels Ocala (VAO) has been providing continuing outstanding and compassionate service for…read moreour 94-year old dad since the first week of March 2020. The entire operation and everyone involved has been professional and focused on providing the best care possible. Dad experienced some medical problems (completely unrelated to the care provided by Visiting Angels) after a year into the VAO care program which resulted in changes to his living arrangements. VAO was understanding, cooperative, flexible, helpful and supportive in making adjustments to Dad's care program. It has now been nearly 18-months since VAO began providing services. We have never had a problem with billings, services, care-givers, or compliance with the scope of services provided by VAO and the outstanding staff. Dad has been cared for by one person for the overwhelming majority of time - but there has been a limited number of days when other caregivers were required to fill-in (due to illness, doctor visits, family emergencies, etc) for Dad's primary caregiver. The "substitute" caregivers were each well informed of Dad's condition/personality before arriving and each provided good, friendly, quality support that was welcomed by Dad. If you're ever in need of a reliable home health care service to provide care, companionship, light housekeeping services, assisting with meal preparation and clean-up, personal hygiene and grooming support, and a compassionate friend to help care for a loved one, I would certainly strongly recommend VAO. Reach out to Elizabeth or Kandice and find out how VAO can work with you in developing a program that works best for your loved ones needs and interests: the costs for care are very reasonable given the quality and reliability of services.

Even though they have awesome neighbors and friends, it was time to have more direct home care for them. I have the pleasure of speaking with and dealing with Veronica, she jumped into play and organized a game plan to assist with our parents. Veronica is on top of her game, she right away called our Mom's Doctor to find out her medications and Doctor appointments. Veronica set her up with a Caregiver right away and started on Wednesday. If you have elderly parents and don't' live by them---I would 100pct support and recommend Visiting Angels... Thanks, Veronica for your continued help and quick response's...
