Overall not a great experience. The move from Nanaimo to Langley was accomplished in just one day and the movers were fast & efficient. However many things were dinged and an expensive moving glass tray was broken. But worse was the loss of a unique African chair. Upon contacting Duncan in Nanaimo various excuses were given...that the chair wasn't loaded onto the truck, to the public having access to the van when the move was taking place, etc! Although E-mail responses from him were almost non-existent, he did answer his phone. Upon emphasizing to him that the chair was worth a lot and he must be covered by insurance, the chair eventually did turn up six weeks after the move. Fortunately we had pictures of the chair and you should too probably take pictures of items you deem irreplaceable prior to a move. Would not use them again read more

I spoke with Earl who is a long haul coordinator. The rudest person I have ever talked to. He quoted me originally at 850/1000lbs. Magically it was increased to 950/1000lbs when I called back to confirm booking. He had zero empathy, zero customer service skills, and he should not have a position that is customer facing. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. Go elsewhere they obviously do not know how to hire people with character and integrity. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I wish I read the Yelp reviews before booking, it would appear they have purchased reviews on other sites. We booked with Earl months in advance for our long haul move and was given a time and date 2 days before and they were to arrive between 9-10 am. We were ready and packed up to go for 9am and by 1030 had not arrived so we called them only to be told no one would be coming today.. which I said was unacceptable as we had pre booked and had to be out of out place. They then strung us along for 9 hours saying they were coming just running late and I was told that I had to just wait patiently. it's a heatwave, I'm pregnant and our two dogs are very heat sensitive!! fast forward almost 12 hours from the scheduled time and they aren't here ... and I assume not coming. We have ended up hiring another company who is so graciously helping us move tonight! DO NOT USE TWO BURLEY MEN. Worst customer service, yes stuff happens but communication is everything And they have none of it. Should be put out of business read more

The two young men who moved us from Courtenay to Nanaimo did an excellent job! They were polite and pleasant to deal with and treated our belongings with care and consideration. The price was very fair for the quality of work done. I would definitely recommend 2 Burley Men Moving! read more

Quoted us $1500 for a 2200sqft home and 8 hours moving. we ended up moving half our stuff days before to save money and somehow the move still took over 8 hours and we were charged $1800. The men also showed up with a broken down truck that took half an hour to get working. we ended up having to pay for their 45 min lunch break cleanup time in their truck after everything was moved, and supplies and an hour travel time from the depot which we weren't told about at booking. We tried to dispute the charges with the regional manager Cheryl and she was belittling and unprofessional telling us that we should have known a quote is on a quote and they can charge us whatever they see fit after the move. read more

They took 50% longer than they estimated. They scratched most of our hardwood chairs and dresser. They broke a glass display. They backed our couch into the shared hallway and took a piece out of the drywall. All the while they never owned up to anything and tried to minimize it when we brought it to their attention. I hired professional movers just so furniture wouldn't get damaged. And it was far far worse than any friends I've asked to help move ever. Not very professional. The movers arrived 2hrs late for our move, they then ranted for the duration of the move about how much they hated their jobs and the branch they were helping out at. The truck from the Langley branch was filled with garbage and trash and my belongings were stored right along side pizza boxes and other crap. They then dropped boxes and broke fragile items due to rushing and over stacking to compensate for their lateness. When I called to complain I was offered 15% off a future move and told they couldn't help me because this was just usual moving stress. 0/10 would not recommend. Awful customer service! read more

Never ever hire 2 Burley Men from Nanaimo!! - Having them as our movers recently was the move from hell.. we won't go into all the details... though know this company was the most unprofessional moving company we have ever dealt with... they should not be operating and we wish to warn others who are considering them = DON'T!!! They took almost twice as long as quoted - even when we were very clear telling them the details of our move - when the movers arrived they didn't even know where we were moving to!!! Hello??? The 'driver' was the most unprofessional and it seemed all he was worried about was how much money they were going to make during the whole time of the move... making numerous calls to his boss - of which during these calls, the other two men would stop working all together... which also dragged out the process longer. When we addressed this issue, they laughed at us and also said they would dump our stuff if we didn't pay much more money even when the job wasn't done. The owner Scott was just as rude and threatened the same. They were disrespectful, rude and didn't know how to properly move. They refused to pack the truck in room order as we had organized (as the owner highly suggested to us) They didn't wrap items that needed to be wrapped like furniture and glass/tile items (when we were told they would). They threw our stuff on the ground without a blanket underneath thus causing our belongings to get dirty. When they took apart our bed frames and other items, they didn't give us back the hardware plus lost glass shelves. We also found our items strewn on the ground after they left including their pop cans thrown on the ground. They also blasted rock music from a big speaker which disturbed our neighbours on both sides of the move. When they finally left, the driver screamed obscenities out the truck window at 12:30 am... We are missing stuff, including our furniture and other items dirty and soiled...We are disgusted to how we were treated. We feel taken and stressed over this move - it seems all they were interested in was grabbing money. The workers moved slowly, at times carrying only one box or item. They never used a dolly either. It seemed like all 3 were stoned or something... That's just part of what we experienced. We are making a formal complaint to the BBB. PS... we don't think this business even deserves 1 star!!! read more

WORST experience ever! Save yourself the hassle and pick another moving company!!!! They were late and understaffed. 13 hours to move 2 Kilometers. Truck and blankets were filthy....soiled our mattresses and upholstery. The move was going so slowly that we helped unload the truck ourselves......and we were paying by the hour!! They broke our solid wood headboard and they refused to fix it and head office closed the file with no inquiries into what happened. Will never recommend these movers. read more

Beware. These guys don't cover much and what little they do cover is based on weight -- not actual value of items! First off, we didn't know when they'd arrive to pack and move our stuff until two days prior even though we'd booked weeks in advance. They arrived two hours earlier than they were supposed to and gave me attitude because they had to wait while I got off work early. Then they quoted me 2hrs of work when it was actually almost five. They said two guys didn't show up. One of the guys that was there was clearly hungover so bad he kept throwing up in my bathroom almost every 5mins! So gross. When they arrived at my nee place, we found out that they broke a small side table (not covered), had packed stuff I had told them not to and didn't pack things they should have (like the nuts and bolts and screws to my kids' bunkbed - had to pack those in my suitcase and pay for a checked bag - or the glass food containers to go with all the lids). To top it off they stained a lampshade, damaged a computer chair and broke our smart TV. Do you know what they offered for the hassle and damaged/missing parts? $250. Definitely don't recommend these guys!! read more

I should have checked all the bad reviews and ratings for 2 Burley Men BEFORE they wrecked my stuff. The reviews of poor service, extensive damage, and poor treatment by company representatives are ALL TRUE. The two sets of crews I had (and a third my mom had) were all nice young men HOWEVER the damage was extensive to my property and they broke my moms bed and stuff too - however after the next to nothing recompense offered for all the damage they made to my stuff, we didn't even bother going through the hassle of making a claim for my poor mother. Scott Burley and Cheryl and this company rely on weasel clauses to not take responsibility for all the damage they and their representatives commit to property. DO NOT EVER trust your belongings to 2 Burley Men - overcharged (bill was more than $4,000.00 to move from Edmonton to the Island) and there is extensive damage to my belongings, a claims process they hide behind, even for stuff they packed negligently, and I was yelled at unprofessionally by the owner Scott. It is not a company I will ever ever recommend and I will be doing my best to ensure widespread knowledge that 2 Burley Men will rip you off, wreck your stuff, and spit in your eye! They are not the ones to trust EVER. read more

My experience with 2 Burley Men was terrible. I'm not one to post reviews, but I honestly feel like I need to warn others. I think that your experience probably depends a lot on *which* 2 of the many "Burley" men you get, but mine were terrible. Well, one of them was okay but the other one I think was brand new to the job, clearly hated it, and had no interest in doing it quickly or well. The other one tried to tell him but the tension between them was thick, the pace was snail-like, and the whole move literally took twice as long as I had expected. Which means it cost twice as much. I called a week later to discuss my concerns. I spoke to their customer service person, who told me she'd investigate and get back to me in a week. After a month I followed up, not having heard anything. I left a message and was not replied to. I also emailed and was not replied to. So I'm writing this review because I literally don't know what other recourse I have, and I'm really pretty frustrated. I spent close to $1000 for a fairly minimal move. I'd strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. You might get an awesome pair of people, but you might not, and if you don't no one is going to do anything to make you feel better about the experience. read more

I recently moved from the lower mainland and unfortunately I made the mistake of using this company. The diver showed up at my house with some things belonging to another customer In the truck and then proceeded to tell me that my items would not fit. They continued to complain about all the work they had to do. Several of my items were scratched and broken by this team. Upon arrival at my destination they charged me $500 over the quoted price. We used Two Burley Men when moving from Vancouver to Victoria. Don't recommend. Not only did they fail to make a reservation for the ferry, and ended up waiting about 3 hours (@$90 per hour I believe) to board, but they also quoted us a price including the ferry, and then when the bill came the ferry was extra. The actual movers did a great job, but I found their pricing quite misleading. read more

This was the worst move we have ever experienced. We have used 2 Burley Men many times in the past and never had an issue until this move! We booked at 5 ton truck with 3 movers for 9am (first move of the day). A 3-ton truck and 2 men showed up...one solid hour late. One of the men questioned my husband about medications on the counter. The other was on his very first day and was useless, for lack of a better word. Nice enough but moved slower than a sloth if that's possible. They damaged one of the walls at the first house and then dropped a piece of furniture onto the ramp coming off the truck at the new house. We had already moved a ton of our stuff and sold off most of our furniture (new furniture was being delivered) so there really wasn't a lot for the movers to do. Most items were left in the wrong rooms - even after directed on where to put things! My husband had to help and did more than either one of the paid movers! Our insurance claim for the damage was denied. We were over charged by an hour for travel time. We live in a brand new development with a lot of new homes where the new owners were asking how our experience with this company was... what am I supposed to tell them?! Showed up on moving day with a contract they didn't tell me about. Contract stated I'm liable for damage to surrounding structures during the move. I didn't agree that I should be responsible if a mover damaged the property. Movers called their boss who told me any damage like that would be covered and agreed to modify the contract to exclude my liability to pay for building damage. Mover initialed change with the bosses agreement. Movers gouged one of the hallway walls during the move, $500 to repair. Moving company only agrees to pay for paint damage, $150. I have to pay the balance of repairs personally because they don't accept the changes to the contract that their representative agreed to and I guess they figure they shouldn't have to pay for all the damage done to a property by their employees. read more

Be forewarned folks, these guys are TERRIBLE! I used them in March, & they actually took a coffee break in the first hour 1/2 at my expense. I had to call their Manager - some manager. I swear they hire any two people off the streets the morning of someone's move, they are that bad. You will have damaged items, forgotten items, and a huge bill for the displeasure. I should have seen the red flags when they arrive over 1/2 hour late, blame the company for the truck not being ready, etc., & then watched them drive by the new driveway, as they took a smoke break 'detour'. And THEN have the nerve to take their coffee break in the parking lot within 20 mins of arriving, with my items sitting outside! I watched all this from my 4th floor apartment window as they sat in their cab. After moving like snails and insisting I sign off on their bill, which I disputed, I found they had forgotten 2 items on the truck, which I didn't discover until a day later. Took me a week for it to be delivered, and in spite of my letter telling the Company what I thought of their shoddy experience, they refused to reply. So I am taking it upon myself to warn everyone not to use 2 Burley Men. EVER. Use your local movers, if in Campbell River, like 'Beekens', or 'CR Movers', or as I am now watching another company moving someone out of my apartment building, 'Sunrise Moving' - who look efficient, organized, and are working like a well-oiled machine. Campbell River Movers do an excellent job, and treat their customers very well, as I discovered after the fact. We hired Two Burley Men over four years ago to move us from Calgary to Vancouver. We are looking to move back to Calgary which is why I am curious at other reviews. They gave us a two to three day window for the move which is fine. And the crew and leader was nice enough. But the crew was often moving the time during this period. Which is kind of understandable I guess.... But the crew told us a ridiculous timeline of maybe 4 hours to prep and pack up and load a 3,600 (including full basement) square foot house and 12,000 lbs of stuff. Prep and pack and load..... Which I thought was bananas. Of course they did not have the truck packed till well after 8 pm (8 or 9 hours later) with considerable assistance from me and the wife starting at dinner time bringing stuff up from the basement. Just to move things along because we had to be out that evening if at all possible. Then they told us they planned to drive to I think Golden or Revelstoke that night (after packing all day and leaving at 8 pm) which was bonkers - especially with weight scales etc. At the end of a pffttt.... 10 to 12 hour working day. I think they made Canmore that night. Which makes sense. The next day we were told they would make Vancouver but only made it to Merrit. Which honestly is reasonable. My opinion - give us a realistic timeline that is achieveable. Stick to it as best as possible. We did have some damage to a few items - notably our dining table. Nothing catastrophic - but some damage that we did not claim for. Regarding the timelines - it wasn't so much the moving around within the time window but rather the continous stream of crazy promises that I knew were completely not achieveable and realistic. The crew leader/driver was nice enough and knew what he was doing and packed the truck amazingly well. But we got the sense that he had no idea what was going on inside the house. THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL FOLKS WITH ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE COME ACROSS: I arranged for a packing and moving service with these guys and they quoted me "$100.00 per hour - includes 2 men & 1 truck (Basic Tool) includes: Travel Time, Move Time, Boxes and Supplies)" I was not at my place because I am stuck overseas due to COVID-19 so my friend oversaw the move on my behalf. I was hoping for some peace of mind hiring these folks to do the move but this is the LAST AND ONLY time I would avail their services and deal with them: 1) NO PACKING MATERIALS PROVIDED 2) UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF 3) NO TOOLS TO DISASSEMBLE THE FURNITURE 4) NOT WEARING MASKS OR PROTECTIVE GEAR FOR COVID Here is what ensued on the moving day: 1. The moving crew arrived WITHOUT the packing or miscellaneous supplies. Besides that, my friend overseeing the move on my behalf, had to help them pack up clothing and other miscellaneous items in plastic bags and other makeshift boxes while the girl (part of the moving crew) kept on saying it's not her fault, she only gets paid $19/hour, and generally being super defensive about everything. My friend called the office and the guy who answered said he'd get the Vancouver supervisor on it right away to bring boxes over and that he'd call back with a status update. My friend relayed the information to the movers and the girl just scoffed and said something like "What is he going to do? Drive all the way from Langley where the office is and drive over a few boxes?" That was very unprofessional of her to say something like that. Even after the move was finished and packed, my friend never got the call from the "Vancouver supervisor". 2. When the movers started taking apart the bed frame, they asked for a screwdriver and an allen key because they weren't advised by the office to bring any tools with them. When we spoke with them early on, we were assured that they would have all the tools necessary to disassemble furniture. What if we had no tools?! We were very lucky that my roommate had some. 3. When the movers were ready to leave for the storage unit, the girl asked for my credit card information, which my friend gave, and then the girl said things will happen in this order: a. They will unload everything into the storage unit b. She will take a picture of what it looks like c. She will text it to me d. She will call me to see if I'm happy with how it's organized e. I would then give her authorization over the phone to charge the credit card. Note that A through D, DID NOT happen. What really happened was I noticed a charge from them on my card and quickly alerted my friend via text. My friend then called the girl on her cell and she said they were just finishing up and had taken a picture and was just about to text it to me. My friend asked her why she didn't do as she said earlier (steps a. through d.) and she made an excuse that it was all done now anyway and she'll be sending over the picture shortly. Also, because there was no receipt or invoice given to me, my friend asked her about the breakdown and she said it was 2 hours of moving plus 1 hour of travel. When my friend called her to find out why the card was charged without her authorization, it was 14:49h. She eventually texted the picture to me at 17:10h. 4. I am not happy that we had to be the ones to provide their movers with masks. As they mentioned on your website, they are an essential service. How are they providing masks and gloves for your movers? This is the least they could do to not only safeguard their own employees but the people who hire them too! Bottom Line: If you want to HIRE a cheap moving service and DON'T care about the lousy moving service they provide, please go ahead and do business with them. However, IF you want some one professional who knows what they are doing and know C-U-S-T-O-M-E-R S-E-R-V-I-C-E, then please stay away from these guys. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE OF OUR LIVES.....should have taken the time to read reviews. No one to be held accountable. Phoned head office in Victoria and was given managers number. Dialed it and it says 'all client calls are blocked". RED FLAG!! The 2 kids said they were contracted out. Didn't know how to pack a truck..one of them had only been doing it for a few weeks: dallied on phone: had a girlfriend outside in a car that they talked to: walking around over and over again to find small items to try and put between boxes. After 3 hours not even half the truck was packed. At 9pm myself and two 75yr olds were bringing boxes from the one room that held all the boxes out to the garage so that they didn't have to come into the house and would get the message. 2.5 hours late worked late at the first job they were at. Arrived at 4:30pm tired after putting in 6 hours and left us at 10:45pm. Brought wrong sized truck, we were told they'd bring the larger truck. 6 hours to move a 1700 sq ft 2 bed office and den house with garden stuff on the first night. Floors scratched: furniture banged up. Came back the next morning (late) at 7 a.m. to get the odds and sods of garden/garage items that didn't go into the truck. In 45 mins wrapped 3 pieces and put 3 pieces on the truck. I was furious and I went out there and grabbed everything I could and placed it in front of the ramp so they wouldn't have to walk in the garage. Mad as hell I said I thought I'd save them the legwork. It took half an hour to load the rest. l stuck around for the entire unpacking, folding blankets and moving lighter items. They had to do the puzzle piece of how to get it into storage and they unloaded it in 3 hours. $1973.00 to move 8k. I feel ripped off and taken advantage of. Our neighbour came out at 7:30 a.m. and called it a shit show. He's moved a lot and it's never taken that kind of time. We were told 3-4 hours to move a household this size and it took 7 in total with the fiasco of the smaller truck and needing another one for the next morning. If I could give less of a rating I would. Roommate and I moved to a different town and was so disappointed with the company's professionalism. One roommate is on an assisted income due to covid layoffs and received assistance in paying for the move, witch was stated on the moving companies paperwork, as a result we found out when it comes to quote un quote ministry move as they put it they don't care about your belongings as they would if you were not being helped by the ministry. We had a u haul planned but 2 burly guys moving convinced us to go with them because they would pack everything in nicely and get it all. Well they didn't pack the truck as nearly well as it could have been, we could hear the movers bouncing our stuff off walls and doorframes then just chuckling about it plus up the people who hired the moving people in the first place had to actually move half the stuff to go into there truck out to the truck ourselves, what was the point in hiring movers if there not going to do the moving...... on top of that they broke several pieces of furniture and damaged a $5000 tv, worth more than the whole move cost in the first place. On top of that we had to rent an additional 15 foot truck that we packed wall to wall floor to ceiling front to back with everything they left behind because again to them this was just a ministry move. We still have to go back and fill another pickup truck with the yard stuff...... Really if you have the choice, rent a u haul or go with national rent a truck. Sure you will do all the lifting and packing but all your stuff will get there and in one piece. They will also cost only a quarter of the price 2 burly guys asks also. read more

2 Burley Men damaged our furniture, household goods and art in the summer 2019 in a move from Calgary to Vancouver Island. They would not pay the damages of $6,000 (they offered us less than $200) so we took them to court in Nanaimo and, after a settlement conference in February 2020, we received Judge Blake's written statement ordering 2 Burley Men to immediately pay us $3000. Scott Burley assured the judge he would pay the judgement the next day and did not. With the courts closed for Covid, he is evading payment. It is now June 5/20 and still no payment whatsoever. Mr. Burley has been ordered to attend a Summons To A Payment Hearing in September, 2020 in the same court in Nanaimo. The Summons requires Mr. Burley to give us his bank account numbers and vehicle VIN numbers so that we can take the next step in this difficult process. read more

The movers are awesome! They are kind, professional and hardworking. We appreciate all that they do. My husband and I really wish we had the same experience with the office staff. When we booked, we informed the office staff that we had a very heavy tub weighing 400 pounds that was getting moved from one location to another and going upstairs, stressing the weight of the item since we wanted to ensure the safety of the workers. The movers were unfortunately sent without the proper equipment in the truck and they had to wait to get a piano hoist sent to help them out. As this took about an hour, I called the office to inquire if we would be getting charged this additional hour and was told a very firm yes without a good explanation. I asked if there was a possibility to meet halfway as the nature of the move was all explained just the day before. The manager did get on the phone like requested, but right away said angrily "What's your problem." It caught me off guard and I explained he didn't have to be angry or upset with me as I was not wanting to start off on the wrong foot or trying to cause an issue but was just looking for a fair resolution. He was very aggressive toward me the full phone call and repeatedly insisted I get his mover on the phone while not allowing me to speak or explain the situation at all. We were shocked as all we were seeking was fairness and weren't expected to be talked to like that when we had done nothing wrong. I was clearly shaken up by this exchange, and having witnessed this the movers comforted me and even apologized for what happened. They are very good and kind people and we were very appreciative of them. When the hoist arrived, my husband who's recovering from surgery stepped in to assist and we did what we could to help. We always used this company and though we really like the work of the movers, we unfortunately won't feel good about using or recommending this company going forward. I have never had a worse experience with a company before. Plain and simple they never showed up for my appointment. When I called to ask why and when I could expect to see them, Derek in the office said there was nothing they could do and hung up on me. Save yourself the trouble and go with ANY other company. Don't get fooled by the low price, because you get what you pay for which in this case was absolutely nothing. I posted the following on 2 Burley Men's Facebook page on Friday, May 27, 2016, when these events took place: ------------------ Well, this has been a lovely morning. I'm home sick and my wife and I were sitting in bed, when we heard a crash from our deck. We looked out the window to see a *couch* being dropped onto the deck, our private property, jostling a couple of plants and tearing the gutter above us out of place. So, while I called some strata council members, my wife had to deal with the movers that had come to collect the couch. She asked them to wait until people could come and have a look at the situation. The two guys were being very unprofessional (with one clearly the leader and the other being visibly uncomfortable with the situation) and didn't think they've done a single thing wrong. In order to prevent them from leaving with the evidence, my wife, rather than struggle with two young men, sat on the couch. At that point, they just decided to leave, but fortunately, our council members showed up and had words with them. The men still left. A little while later, while we remained inside to avoid any further confrontation, the men returned to our deck, just to retrieve their equipment, but the leader was heard to utter the words, "F***in' right, we're leaving the couch." (At this point, we'd set up a camcorder to make sure no shenanigans were gotten up to if they did return.) After speaking to strata council members, they returned and collected the couch, but have still left a couple of cushions outside on the common strata property. It turns out that the movers, much to our surprise, were employed by 2 Burley Men. Even beyond their subsequent behaviour, the idea that they could drop and retrieve furniture onto and from a private, enclosed deck without permission is ludicrous. -------------------- Now, since posting that, they claim that they knocked on our door a number of times and that strong language was also used by us. My response to their response was: -------------------- A number of points: Couldn't get the couch through their door? I wonder how it got into the suite in the first place. The suites have solid doors, so if somebody doesn't use the door knocker, we may not have heard. But there *is* clearly a door knocker on all doors, and, if it had been used, we *would* have heard it. Furthermore, if they weren't able to contact us, the building does have an on-site caretaker who should have been contacted instead. I can't imagine that that would not be standard procedure. And now I've learned more details after the fact from my wife. While I was calling for help on the phone, she asked the movers to leave our property. When they didn't, she asked them to leave the couch long enough for our caretaker to assess the damage. When they refused, and went to remove the couch, she sat down on it, expecting them to go away and come back for it later. However, they then persisted in lifting the couch, with the intention of tipping my 60-year old wife onto the stone patio! They only desisted when the moving neighbour called down and told them, "Don't do that!" No kidding! Had strata council members not arrived at that moment, we would have been calling the police. And my point with sharing the "F***in' right, we're leaving the couch" moment was not so much the language, but the fact that they decided that they were going to abandon the couch and only came back and finished their job after a talking to by a strata council member. --------------- No response to date. And now, I've discovered that, although I can see my review just fine when I visit their Facebook page, *nobody else can*. They have hidden it from view to anyone else. Yes, very professional, guys. Managed to destroy a $2500 TV moving within 15 minutes around Victoria. The move team advised me it was there fault and they would compensate the damage. Upon contacting 2BurleyMens " Service" team I was told they would compensate 215$ and it's my problem. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE IF YOU VALUE WHAT YOU'RE MOVING!!! read more

Requested a quote for moving from Calgary to Red Deer, quoted $1350+GST for 2 guys for 8 hours and gas. Set up the move for 8am. Guys showed up over an hour late and the first thing one of them asked is if I could tip them in cash. They did a decent job packing and moving, however when they put stuff in storage they damaged some furniture and totes by sliding furniture on rough concrete floor and overstacking boxes. When the bill came they wanted over $1700 for the move but could not tell me why, first it was the extra travel fees then their customer service told.me it was extra wait time which was total BS I had to wait for them. They charged me for 10 hours but only worked 8 hour, the bill says 2 hours to load and 2.25 hours to unload, no way travel was 5.75 hours. Chery from customer service was useless, blamed me and then just ignored me. I showed this to another moving company and they confirmed that this is way overcharged, $1300 is max that I should have paid. Never using them again. read more

Don't use this company if you want your belongings lost!! On 1st July this year we moved house and province from Maple Ridge BC to NW Calgary. We used two burley men as the reviews seemed good and so did the cost. The movers came on the 1st and were great couldn't have asked for it to go smoother. Moved in on the 3rd and our things should of been delivered that day but nobody showed up. Called them they said it would be on the way and should hear from the driver. This kept happening for a few days getting fobbed of with excuses. Unhappy, with been told different excuses and speaking to different people who had no clue. Mean time me my husband and two kids were in a new house with no furniture, no beds, bedding anything to cook with. Thursday came and still nothing so I called them again, I said no drivers had contacted me where's my belongings? They made some calls and realised then it was still in Maple Ridge and been took to storage by mistake. I was really upset as we were sleeping on the floor and had nothing! They sent me $250 Etransfer to get air beds and bedding and other basic stuff we needed. Said they couldn't get out things to us till the following Tuesday so a week later than expected!! Our things come as promised, but now we realize that we are missing a big part of my sons bed and around 6 boxes and my husbands ladders, wasn't sure in amount missing as they don't tally the amount of boxes as they packed the truck. I shouldn't have to remember that in the chaos of a move. Contacted them to explain this. Said they'd keep looking for them and called the other offices. End of August comes and they found they part of the bed and a couple of boxes in Calgary, was delivered by a different company (strange). But was still missing about 3 boxes. They kept saying they'll keep looking and asking this one man in Calgary who never seems to be there. October comes still nothing. Now they are saying our file is closed as the deductable is $50 and the boxes that are missing go on weight not value. We are missing numerous cooking dishes and pots that are things we use daily and they are not cheap to replace. Also when we records our delivery in July the weight that we paid for was for the stuff delivered so how can they know the total value of whys missing if it was never weighed! I have been reading reviews online and through Facebook and a lot of other people have had similar experiences. They told me I was just unlucky but all those other people can't just be unlucky!! Seems strange how boxes go missing and never found. We don't want this to keep happening to others. I've filed a complaint with BBB. Seems there's a few against them read more

Scammers. Very unprofessional, take you shipment and keep giving you names and phone numbers to chase your shipment as if its your job! They are amateurs and good enough for local moving but not long distance. They have no customer service and wont tell you where your shipment is! Good luck suffering with those folks read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! YOUD BE BETTER OFF GETTING A U-HAUL AND HIRING 2-3 STUDENTS! I was quoted $1500 for a local move, at about 7 hours total time. It ended up costing $2300 and took them 13 (very slow) hours! And, they damaged over $5000 worth of my belongings. Their pricing is hourly for local moves, so I made sure all belongings were boxed labelled and staged for loading. The crew was EXTREMELY slow moving and inefficient. It took them 13HOURS to complete my move, and that's with me (as the customer!) being the 4th man on the job moving boxes, etc. I had to constantly manage them and get them moving. I don't own dressers or any big furniture other than 3 mattresses, a dining room table and one sectional sofa. The rest was in boxes. They failed to bring wardrobe boxes, leaving me to scramble on moving day to find some, they didn't put any boxes in the places where I had labelled them to go in the new location, boxes marked "glass/fragile/do not crush" were crushed. Everything was shrapnel. When I reported my concerns, they did not apologize, they simply told me that their insurance pays 0.60/pound for large items and doesn't cover customer-boxed items. They agreed to pay $180 for over $5000 damage, and did not respond to my concerns around the crew inefficiency, sloppy work or disorder. They just don't care. Oh....and they showed up on moving day with a truck that was too small for my belongings, leaving me to store the rest and incur additional costs for a storage unit, and movers to move those items another day. Awful experience with this mover! They were one and a half hours late, then lackadaisical loading of boxed items in order to maximum the load time - 4 hours charged for a studio apartment! We were given a lowball estimate (2 hours). Then we had to supply a Philips screwdriver to disassemble the queen bed because they came without even this rudimentary tool. Then they reassembled the bed the wrong way, so we had to take it apart again and put it together correctly. Stay away! read more

I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone... We had booked a move from Kamloops to Victoria while in advance. The movers were set to come on the Sunday to have us moved out of our house before the new owners took possession the Tuesday at noon. One week before our move date the driver called and said they were having truck problems so they would have to delay. He said they would now be coming on Monday and assured me everything would be moved out in time still. Then on Sunday they called and said they will have to delay again until Tuesday... the day we had to be out.... After many conversations with the driver and another driver (who was very rude) we were told they would be there Tuesday at 9am to do a 7 hour load... the time we had to hand over the keys was at noon... After many phone calls we were told they would come at 7 am and be done by noon. We did NOT trust them at this point because of A) how many times they had changed our pickup and how we felt like we were getting the short end of the stick with their truck problems and B) just how rude they about the whole situation, We ended up getting our own Uhaul the night before possession and doing the entire move ourselves! It was a NIGHTMARE!!!! These guys are VERY UNRELIABLE!!!! If you need to be out of your house at a certain time pick a different company. They expected us to pay them $6000 for horrible LATE service. read more

Warning: I hired 2 Burley Men Moving company from Victoria to move me from Campbell River to Lake Cowichan. They sent a truck that was too small. an hour before they were due to be finished loading a fellow Sylvain informed me that their truck was too small and that I would have to make other arrrangements for the items that were left remaining. I informed them that I had horethem to move me and they would have to figure it out. He called his boss and after a lenghthy amount of time (that they stood around waiting while I was paying them) I was told that a truck from Nanaimo would be dispatched and that they would be about 1.5 hours to get there and I would have to wait for them and the current truck would head out to Cowichan. Sylvain mentioned that this was a common problem with thier company that he was getting tired of and that one of thier last moves had been the worst underquote ever and had required twice what was quoted. Two more guys and another truck arrived 2.5 hours later and only 30 minutes prior to when I legally had to be out of the house and loaded up the rest of the items remaining. The two men asked to use the toilet prior to heading out and then left. My cleaning lady was there finishing up sweeping after the movers were done and she discovered that one of the two men, Nathan or Eugene, had made a mess in the bathroom and had peed all over the toilet, floor and wall. She had to stay to reclean this. I headed out to Cowichan and upon arriving was told by my partner and inlaws that the movers had just flung things everywhere and did not take note of the location the boxes were marked with and the place was in servere disarray. The first truck had departed leaving two huge oil stains in the driveway. The second truck unloaded and presented me with a large bill in addition to the bill from the first truck. The original quote has been $149/hr plus GST $175 for fuel total 2404.41 becuase they had to send another seperate truck out , it cost me another $920.96. They apparently do this often and also fraudulently charged my credit card for one of the charges that I would not sign for by usuing my card off the other bill. Visa cannot do anything because it was the same company name out of Victoria. Warn your friends not to use this company. read more

We booked 2BM to move us within Edmonton on July 27, giving us a few days afterward to do a deep cleaning on our old place. We were told they would arrive at 8am that day. 8:12 am on the 27th, I got a call saying they local office had only just been informed that morning and they weren't going to arrive until 9am, despite us doing the booking a month prior. After 9am I got another call saying their truck had broken down, they were waiting for the back-up truck and would be there by 11. After more calls along this vein (can't drive stick, waiting for a new driver, waiting for a job to finish so we can just use their truck), they finally arrived around 6:30pm, but by then it was too late to finish so they did a bit over half of it and said they would return the next day as soon as one of them finished a job so they could complete our job. They did not return on the 28th and were mostly uncommunicative (busy) until I asked if I needed to find a different company, at which point they said they would be there by noon on the 30th. At this point, we had already had to cancel things like the carpet cleaning, which have since come out of our damage deposit. They did arrive on the 30th, again around 6pm. Through the move they left dents and scrapes on the walls, some of them significant. The ones at the old place have already come out of our damage deposit, and they said if I contacted their Service department they would send someone to repair the new place. They also removed the door to our deep freeze for the move and misplaced the parts, so it no longer has an attached door. I contacted their Service department August 5 and despite repeated follow-ups have only gotten back broken promises to have things fixed "this week" or "soon", or simply no response at all. Some of the damage is keeping us from getting furniture into place, which has stalled our unpacking despite it being a month since, and aren't able to properly use the deep freeze. They did, however, decline to charge us for the services of one of the movers each day to try and make up for the service delays, and they're quite friendly...when you can actually manage to speak with them. read more

This is the second time I've used 2 Burley Men and I'm once again super impressed by their speed, efficiency and professionalism. I was moving in and out of 2 storey walk ups, with a couple beastly pieces of furniture and the guys were amazing! No complaints or grumbling on their side. Today I had Ken and Todd, both of whom were fantastic. I don't know about the previous review, but the price I was quoted was the price I paid. I did not feel taken advantage of at all. Moving suuuuucks but they made it pain free, and definitely didn't break my budget either. read more
