FYI, Jacob and Alonso were amazing! Where do I begin...I paid for a move into one of their lockers for a month. Then they were to bring my belongings to my new place Jan. 2022. They arrived late after letting me know to be there at 10am because 'the guys like to start early', they were 1 1/2 hours late because they had to fill up the truck (on my time). They left after dropping off my stuff and I quickly began to realize that I was missing a bunch of boxes and two shelving units, plus one of the shelves to my lovely hutch. I contacted and spoke with Andrew Foster about locating my belongings, he said, 'he was working on it and he'd have the guys look again in my locker'. I received a text from Andrew with a photo of my family's old truck which one of the items I was so upset about having it 'misplaced'...I was thrilled. But they were still trying to locate all my stuff, so they were going to 'tear a wall down in the warehouse to find the rest?! I learned that when they can't fit everything into the locker, they store it in the warehouse and separate it with 'walls', 'you know moving blankets' he said. What? I paid for a locker, why didn't anyone tell me this or at the very least, make a note on my file as to where they put my other belongings? "They forgot" The remainder of my items were found, 'in his office in an alcove' or something! Finally the 2nd load of my belongings were dropped off and left outside under the cover of deck. So I alone had to move all those boxes and two shelving units into my place. (I have arthritis in my back and Fibromyalgia, I am on disability), no offer was made and still no compensation for this trouble and added stress. Once I had pulled all the boxes in the house, I began to go through them. One of the last boxes I went through was one of my bathroom boxes, the minute I opened it, it was very clear that a rodent had eaten through the box and everything was covered in rodent droppings. I moved it outside and emailed Andrew, both myself and my friend and advocate messaged him because at this point I was livid. He blamed me and said I shouldn't have packed food in my bathroom box (of course I didn't). He distracted the conversation with comments like, 'in all my 15 years of business no one has ever made a claim' and 'I have never know our warehouse to have a rodent problem'. Like I must have made all of this up. He was sent photos, my quote stating I paid for a locker as well as 2 moves. He has refused to pay for any of my items ruined in that rat box. That's the only thing I was seeking, that some of my damaged items be replaced. These items were ruined from not being stored in a locker. I can not afford to replace these items, being on disability and not working at the moment. Just a terrible way to conduct business. I understand that mistakes happen, but how you deal with those mistakes, speaks volumes about the business and the integrity of the owner. read more

Foster's Moving movers damaged 80% of our furniture, including denting and scratching pictures. They broke a drawer off my desk and taped it back on. We provided moving blankets but they didn't even use them. Andrew, the owner has said he could come to an agreement by sending us an e-transfer of $50. Totally disgusting. read more

Overpriced & mediocre. - They offered to come at 7 am because Andrew said they prefer to start early. Honestly this is super early for us but we agreed. Okay, we got up at 6 am and prepared. 7 am - nobody came. 7:05 we call and we got an automatic answer that they're closed. And they even don't have a voicemail, so at this point we had no idea how to contact them. 7:15 we called and still the same "we're closed". Finally Andrew called and said they were going to come soon (we waited at least half an hour with no apologies from those guys when they arrived). So keep in mind if anything they just won't take your call and you won't be able to leave a voicemail because they don't have any. - One of those 2 guys did not take his shoes off despite we asked to. It was a rainy day, and he just kept walking inside the house in his shoes (including our freshly cleaned beige carpet) and he even walked on the new pads in his shoes while wrapping the furniture making the pads wet and dirty. - Wrapping was not done professionally at all. They just did not use the scotch properly and as a result the pads were not fixed properly. This made some parts of the pads dirty and wet as they were trailing. - Guys who came to do the moving knew nothing about the second part of the task (moving some items from one storage unit to another unit) that came as a big surprise for them despite my family member did all the photos in advance to show and tell Andrew all about that - miscommunication between team members. - 25 minutes after they left we wrote an email to Andrew saying we were waiting for the invoice. But Andrew did not send the invoice right away or even the same day. Instead he invoiced DAYS later and OVER billed more than $100+. They came at 7:30 or later and they left the storage facility at 12:20 (so 4h 50 min in total, max) and he billed 6 HOURS. When we asked why, he said that they charge the travel time before and after!!! BEWARE. And still invoiced 5,5 hours. read more

I have had Fosters Moving a number of times. I have always found them to be efficient professional movers. I also had Fosters packers who were so good at their jobs, absolutely nothing broke in the move. I have lots of antiques and they handled them with great care. Foster's Moving was recommended by some neighbours. After getting two other estimates from other companies, I chose Foster because the owner provided a competitive quote and seemed efficient and quick to answer questions via email. The amount of furniture and move itself was equal to a 2 bedr. condo even if it was from a house. The problem came on the day of the move. The two movers he sent were quite young and while, one was very professional and worked extremely hard ( he practically did most of the disassembling of the furnitures) the other arrived at the house smelling like weeds and it was clear that he just had finished smoking. At the beginning, he seemed efficient, quick but he took two more breaks smoking while his colleague was working nonstop. It took 3 hours from 8:30am to 11:30am for them to load the truck. Then, I asked if they knew where the storage was and quickly, Andy, the fellow that smoked, said yes yes yes and quickly proceeded to leave. When i arrived at the storage, they were not there. I waited for 10-15 minutes and then felt something was not right so I called the owner of the company as didn't have the 2 movers cell phone number. After almost an hour wait, I was told they made a mistake and went to a different storage. I was shocked. Again, if the worker would have let me check the address and name of the storage with him, that mistake probably wouldn't have happened. Finally around 1pm, the unloading began. I was told I would not be charged for the time they went to the wrong place. ( at least!) I waited 1 hour for them to come to the correct storage facility. As they started unloading and I paid for the storage unit, it seemed it was too small. I mentioned that but one of the worker, Andy, again in his quick judgement said he would fit everything in that 5x10 unit. After maybe 30 or 40 minutes of unloading, he said he couldn't. Now, this is why I hired professional movers to not have to worry about such details and make the move smooth. On the contrary, it became a nightmare from that point on. As they had unloaded at a certain entrance and I had to choose a bigger storage (5X15) to fit in everything, the distance from the 1st unit to the 2nd was significant. It was counterproductive to re-load everything on the track and go to the closer entrance of the bigger unit, so it took a long time to walk the long hallway with each peace big and small going from the 1st storage unit to the 2nd bigger unit. Meanwhile, I had to go downstairs to the office and pay the price different for the bigger unit. At 3:30pm it seems finally everything was stored, however it was hard to close the door. Luckily, this unit has 3 doors instead of one. By now, I was tired, stressed and warned out. I asked if they took everything out of the 1st storage and they said yes. I was charged $938 for 6 hours when the original quote was 3 hours and much less then that! Still Andy, the fellow, who created all the problems was arguing that was the correct time and amount. Shortly after, I was called by the manager of the storage telling me that the movers had forgotten two big pieces of furniture in the 1st storage. Unfortunately, that went to voice mail and I didn't get the message until later that evening when the store was closed. The store manager secured the furniture but I had to go back the next day to fix the problem. My closing on the house was on Friday and I was busy with the cleaning and final details. A family friend and I went back to the storage and the manager helped us to fit the two pieces into the unit. The manager also was surprised that two of the doors were not blocked as they were hitting some of the furniture. At that point, I realized how bad this fellow had stuck furniture and worried about the delicate pieces. Again, I realized all the reasons for hiring a moving company were gone. These guys did a very poor job and still had to give them almost $1000. I called the owner, Andrew Foster, and explained my concerns about his worker and praised the other one, whom whoever was following order from the one on weeds. I understand weed is legal in B.C. but under no circumstances I think a worker should smoke right before starting his day and take break to get some more. Although I did not see him smoke weed for sure. The smell was unmistakable. The owner said he would talk to him but from the tone of the conversation he seemed he just wanted to brush me off and was not going to do anything in regards to his behaviour. I am very disappointed with Foster's Moving. I would not choose Foster again, if this worker is still there. read more

We shopped for movers and were referred to Foster's. Their price was competitive. We paid for packing services as well as disassembly and reassembly of beds, including a children's bunk bed. DO NOT have this company disassemble or reassemble ANYTHING. Due to delays in out renovation completions we did not check all of the furniture carefully for over a month. When we did there were pieces missing (in a bag of misc part we found later). Some of these parts were structurally important. There was a broken drill bit left in place of a bolt, there were slats attached diagonally (so one slat where 2 should be). There were screws drilled completely through the frame and sticking out the side. The headboard and foot board of one bed were completely unattached and the most troubling was the bunk bed was put together so badly it would have been very dangerous if any children had climbed onto it. The rest of our packing and move went OK. Packing was extremely poorly labelled and in many cases mislabelled - items from from the kitchen labelled bedroom, etc but that was just inconvenient. The kitchen knives were loose in a box and unlabelled so surprised no one got cut. read more

Foster's did a great job with my move! I was moving from Vancouver to Victoria, and their quoted price was comparable to other companies I talked to. I needed to move a large stone sculpture, and while other companies were a bit unsure about it Foster's suggested I have a custom crate built and explained how they planned to deal with the piece. The move went very smoothly, and my statue (as well as my furniture) arrived safely! I had a great experience with the movers themselves, as well as the office staff. I would definitely recommend them to anyone, especially if you have an unusual or delicate element to your move. read more

Terrible Service. Showed up without proper equipment and a borrowed truck. Staff was inefficient, no hussle, not organized. My brother moved most of the boxes with a dolly he had to go and get from his own storage. One of the crew had never moved before and it was their first day. Took extra time to train them, took 25 min to move a simple couch and it was damaged in the process. The whole move took much longer than it should have and would have taken even longer if my brother and I didn't pick up the slack. When I informed the owner he provided a small discount but gave no acknowledgement or apology of the terrible service. Even with the reduced price I over paid for the service provided. I do not recommend. I hear Swain is a good moving company. I will use them next time. read more

HI, we used Foster's Moving in mid-May, a 5000 to 3000 sq ft home. They were able to change the time for us on the last day and had everything packed carefully and securely within a few hours and then unloaded it all after a small dinner break. No dings or scratches anywhere. The workers were polite, hard working, willing to listen and able to problem solve some of our larger pieces with ease. I appreciated the profesionalism with the in-home quote, the follow up and the connection with charitable donations for unwanted items. Foster's quote to me was worthless. They ended up charging me 2 1/2 times (!) their estimate, then blamed it on me. He was understaffed for the day of my move, then claimed that it was my fault and I was lucky they happened to have an extra truck. I had no more items than when he gave me the estimate! He processed my credit card, even though I told him I did not approve this... and he guessed at a couple of the numbers to put this through. Now my credit card company is involved in this disaster. He gave me a phone quote, and I asked him if he was sure he didn't need to see the my house. (I was confused because the other movers did come to the house.) He said he didn't, then after the move he said it was my fault because I should have insisted, even though I answered all of his questions accurately on the phone. This is a great scam to get business, or a mistake. I'd like to think it is a mistake, but one which should result in some compromise. Fosters moving broke two items (and antique desk and a ping pong table) and gave me the run-around for months with the second. They claimed it was reparable, despite their own repair guy telling me it was not. In the end Mr. Foster said that, despite not telling me any of this when I bought insurance, that a ping pong table should not have been covered. (Why sell me insurance then?!) He was supposed to have assembled my bed, as per our moving agreement. His crew was not successful and left it unassembled. It was late at night by the time they finished my move. I slept on the floor for more than a week while they said they were too busy to assemble it. I was patient and trusting, which was certainly my downfall. After more than a week sleeping on the floor, I paid a friend of a friend to assemble it for me. I tried to meet with Mr. Foster to resolve this, which I believe was generous and should not have been necessary. I was patient through his family issues, vacations, etc. and I think he was just hoping this would go away. The crew who did the move was great, and it isn't their fault that Mr. Foster bumbled the move and had them working while exhausted. Mr. Foster did not come to the job. I appreciate that mistakes can be made, but own up to them! Mr. Foster is a blamer who likes to rewrite history. I have nothing to gain by writing this, and this is truthful with witnesses and evidence. I especially would like to caution women who are thinking about using this service because I believe that was part of the reason Mr. Foster felt he could treat me the way he did. read more

We had arranged a move with 2 small Men last week that turned into a nightmare!! Jacob from Foster's was contacted short notice to take over our move. Although they had worked all day they showed up smiling and ready to work, Jacob and his team worked non stop to load us up and you couldn't have asked for a better team. They delivered when they said they would and kept in touch along the way. They pretty much saved us, friendly, hard working, knowledgeable. Shout out to Jacob, great team leader, great guy. read more
