Daniel is a genius with scissors, he gave me exactly what I wanted even though I didn't really explain it, he knew how to deal with the type of hair that I have. I don't even blow dry my hair or style it, I simply shower and let it airdry and it looks wonderful. I usually wear my hair straight but Daniel asked me if he could show me how he would style it, and if I didn't like it he would it straighten it for me. Though I was reluctant at first I was pleasantly surprised by the result and asked him to keep it the way he styled it. The salon itself is clean and inviting, everybody's friendly and they make you feel comfortable the minute you step into the door. The girls who assist the hair dresser are awesome, the one who washed my hair gave me a lot of tips and DIY hacks on how to keep my hair healthy and THEY WORK!!!! If I could rate this place more than five stars I would do it in a heart beat. I highly recommend it. I will definitely be a regular. read more

Best hair salon ever!! Daniel is the best and knows exactly what he is doing!! From the cut to the color and treatment of the hair... he's amazing!! You can't go wrong with Daniel or anyone in the salon. The staff is amazing and they're all very nice and very friendly. The salon is very clean and chic. Daniel will make sure you get the kind of haircut, hair color and hair treatment you want. He will spend as much time as he needs with you and he takes his time to make sure you get want you want... and every time he is working on your hair... he will ask you if what he's doing is what you imagined and make sure you get what you want. He also gives amazing suggestions and helps get you everything you need and what will look good. Daniel is very sweet, funny, caring and takes his time. 21M is a fantastic salon. The atmosphere is calming amongst a bustling city, with very friendly and accommodating staff. They always offer some water or other beverage when you come in and are flexible with tardiness. I've been going to Keighley in particular for almost a year now (for everything from cuts to color & style to makeup) and she is definitely one of those stylists that quickly becomes a friend and confidant. She keeps the appt. moving and is extremely personable, knowledgable and versatile. If you go to 21M, I highly recommend you choose her for the job. The only complaint I have is that their price point could be better fit for the everyday twenty-something. However, as the results are always top-notch, you are almost always getting the quality of work that your pretty penny pays for. P.S. This is the first time I've written a review on Yelp, because I don't usually feel so strongly about an experience that it occurs to me to go tell other people about it. But I was blown away by the really special experience I had at 21 M, from start to finish. From being greeted warmly at the door and offered a cold drink to the wash and the cut, I loved it. The new space and staff were great, but Daniel is really kind of a magician at what he does. I learned so much about my own hair that I never knew, and I felt like it was the first time someone got what my awkward (semi-curly/frizzy with cowlicks) hair needed. Even a few weeks later it looks cute and I'm getting compliments on it. I really appreciated that Daniel showed me two ways to style it as well, since it was lovely with the blow-dry but as a busy mom of little ones I need a quick solution, too. A year and a half ago I stepped out of a salon in tears as the stylist literally cut my hair so short that you could see my scalp. That same day I found my way to Pascal. The first thing he said to me was "Dont worry, I am here for you!" I immediatley knew through his gentile yet confident approach that I was in good hands. The end of the story is Pascal worked a mini miracle and the tears were gone. As i left he said what he says to all his clients......" I am here for you, if you are not happy (with your hair cut) just stop in anytime and I can make an adjustment, I am here for you." I have yet to take Pascal up on that offer as I have ALWAYS been tremendously happy with his work. Pascal never rushes and takes time to be sure that every client is happy. I've moved across the country a lot, so I've never been monogamous with a hair stylist, that is until I met Daniel Ianelli. I started going to him about 3 years ago when he was with a different salon, and I followed him here. I change my cut and color nearly every time I go in, sometimes a little, some times a lot, and I have never been disappointed. He is very attentive and makes sure I get exactly what I want every single time. Caitlyn was his right hand woman for a long time, and since they've moved to 21M she's growing her own business. Honestly, I get compliments on my hair all the time. I'm a young professional, and I want a cut that looks polished during the week, but that I can play with on the weekends. I moved to Philly two years ago from NYC, and while I love my new city and most of what it has to offer, I've had a HORRIBLE time finding a hair stylist. I have been to FIVE hair salons and each visit was worse than the other. I can't begin to explain how horrible my hair has looked. But I finally found Daniel Iannelli, who was at another location, but recently relocated to 21M. I am not exaggerating when I say I've only had one other hair stylist color my hair as well (the other was a celebrity stylist in NY). He also gave me a great cut, though I'm growing my hair out now. So color has been my primary issue. He's so well versed in what works to make your hair look natural, and suited to your skin tone (very important for a blonde). His customer service is top notch and he really takes all the time he needs to get it right. So happy to have pretty hair again! read more

I had a very negative experience at this salon. I came in for a balayage hair coloring, and Josephine seemed confident that she would be able to do something similar to a picture that I showed her. Needless to say, she did not have the skills required to accomplish such a coloring job, and I wish that she had told me this prior to doing an atrocious job and then charging $120 (after I talked her down from $150). The highlights were streaky and blotchy. I was embarrassed to even walk out of the salon, and immediately went to the pharmacy to pick up box dye to fix my hair. After calling the salon, they would not offer a refund, but said I could come back in for them to "fix it." I would never trust them to work on my hair again, and I would never recommend that anyone go there for anything more complicated than a haircut or a simple one-color dye job. read more

I have been with Daniel Iannelli for about 7 years now. I met him when he was at Pileggi on the Square and I followed him to 21M. The reason I have stayed with Daniel as long as I have is because he respects what you want and does great cuts. He will make suggestions, but he really wants to satisfy you as a customer, so he listens. There is no hard sell with him. He is truly about the customer service, which I sense is dying out in many service oriented businesses. When it comes to the cuts, I have always walked out very happy with my cuts. I tend to stay loyal to those I like and I have with him. He is also fun to discuss world issues, local politics and history with - whether you agree with him or not, he doesn't care, it's about having a discussion. I recently moved to Philadelphia and very pleased to have found Pascal at the 21M hair salon. Had a great experience there this past week. Pascal listened and did exactly what I wanted. I was apprehensive about finding a new salon (I previously had the same hair dresser for several years in another state), and wanted to have a conservative approach during the change (to keep the same hair cut, that is), until I would feel comfortable to try something new. The location is also great, and there is a parking garage across the street. The decor/ambiance is very nice. And the chair used to wash my hair was adjusted very ergonomically, a great experience overall. Also love the smell of the shampoo line they use (French). Would recommend to a friend. read more

The salon floor is still under renovation, but if the powder room is any indication of what's to come, clients will be in for a wonderful experience. Daniel still takes the time to evaluate your cut, color, and discuss any changes that you'd like to make. My hair continues to be in excellent condition. For the best hairstylist in Philadelphia, look no further than Daniel at 21 M Salon. I have been going to him for years and have always left the salon looking beautiful. This past visit, I decided to darken my hair. I have highlights so he suggested an ombre look. He did this by using a technique he saw in Paris, hand-painting the color onto my hair. It came out fantastic! My favorite quality about Daniel is his honesty....over the years I have asked him to do some things which would damage my hair. He would not do it, and would make other suggestions, giving me something similar to what I was asking. David has been my hair stylist for over 25 years! I even commuted from Annapolis MD to get my hair cut when I was living there over the course of this time. It was worth the commute knowing that you'd come out with great looking hair and looking like a million bucks! Finally I can say, I'm back living in Philly and my commute to David is only 15 minutes! He looked at the shape of my face, the type of hair I have, and how my hair grows.
