Ok so we hit this place up around 1am on Saturday morning, errr, Friday night if that works better…read more So this place was pretty cool... From the outside it sounded like a club, but then you walk in to this courtyard with tables. The server was hella cool. No doubt about that. He was helpful and totally hooked it up. You know me... Gin martini, up, twist. Through the course of the evening I had 6, and honestly the glass just kept looking fuller and fuller every time! Nice... hook it uuuuupp. Looks like I got the long pour :) The food: I read somewhere they blue marlin was oily... I didn't have it, but we ordered it and everyone said it tasted quite nice. I ordered the house special Cansi Steak, yes, I thought it was quite delicious... quite delicious indeed! You know in the Philippines there's this tradition of having some pulutan when you drink and this totally rocked it, hit the spot with my martinis. Oh the ambiance is very hip... music was good and had a lot of fun. I'm very happy we picked this place to have our late late dinner. Should I be back in Bacolod, I'd fancy anther visit to Portiko. Stay Hungry!!

My favorite bar! I've been going to this place for years, they have really nice wait staff and they…read moreknow how to mix their drinks right, not too strong and not too weak, just right. Their food is very good too, make sure to try the fries and nachos, they are delicious. However, this place isn't really for people on a budget, 75 pesos for a beer is rather expensive by Bacolod standards, but I think it's worth it.

The security guards are friendly- they remove cones when you need to park and they help you back out of the lot. People here are always happy - celebrating something, going on dates, eating as a group and even having meetings. It could get loud, but its also manageable. The noise and the crowd doesnt bother me because the tables are well spaced from each other. If you need a bigger table, they can easily more them around to make it happen. Their food is great and serve very fair portion sizes, but what i come here for really is the bakery area. I always get one thing, and its the favorite of my entire family. I dont remember the exact name, but i think its called the Cheese Crunchy. I always buy 10 at a time. This in particular has really nice soft yet crunchy texture and the cheese isnt melted, but its very soft. When I visit, I always come here to buy enough that will last a few days and then i buy more before I leave.

I've been coming to Bob's since I was a child. It's one of those restaurants that have been around…read morefor decades and has remained family-owned. Along with the original, there are now other locations, including a smaller version called Bob's Café. They are well known for their burgers, but have grown their menu since the early 70s. It was nostalgic to return to Bob's after over 30 years of being away. We ordered a few items on the menu and was not disappointed. The Lengua in mushroom sauce was a bit too soupy for my taste. Salpicao was tender, and the fried isul was pretty good. Overall, service was good but not as good as it was decades ago when it was more personal. However, food was also good but competition from newer restaurants have made it somewhat mediocre. Even so, Bob's will remain a staple in this city, especially for those of us who grew up coming to Bob's.

I saw a sign that said 10% service charge for sitting inside the air conditioned area, which was fine by me. I'm happy to pay a little extra to sit in an air conditioned restaurant. First, let me say the servers we had were very helpful and took care of us throughout our entire meal. They were quite attentive, more so than most places I've been to. So where do I begin... as we approached the restaurant, it just seems to be this hole in the wall side of the road spot, by many accounts it is, however this little place opens inside to a much larger dining area and is quite busy with people. As we were choosing the dishes to eat, the butcher, or whatever you call the guy who's in charge of taking your seafood, weighing it, and asking how you would like it cooked, so this guy pushed some rotten fish on us! WTF! Let me say this, the adobo squid was really good, the lobster was ok, just ok or just sub par, the scallops are about average as anyplace in the Philippines, but the fish they served in the soup was straight up rotten!! You could smell it right away as soon as they brought it to the table. I wanted to complain but everyone I was with said just don't eat it... Filipino shyness of actually saying what's on your mind, not polite really, just I think it's more of a cultural shyness. Nonetheless, WTF! Rotten fish, NASTY! I'm going to leave it at that. So many blogs I read tout this restaurant. SKIP IT! Go to a real restaurant and enjoy a nice meal or inspect what you purchase before you buy it. Enough said. My bill was over 2300 pesos... seriously I could have have a Wagyu Steak and Bone Marrow for about 500 less and enjoyed savoring my meal! Stay Hungry!

Chika-an in Robinson's Bacolod is a great place to go to if you're looking for some authentic…read moreFilipino dishes. It's located at the back of Robinson's in the entertainment block (not sure what they call it) together with other restaurants such as Moon Cafe, Peppersteak, and a lot more. Chika-an in Bacolod is rather small and not at all homey. It looks like a slightly upgraded carenderia to be honest. I've eaten at other Chika-an branches but this here stuck me as the odd one out. Fortunately, the wait service is still top-notch. We ordered Filipino favorites such as Sisig, Tinolang Manok, Lumpiang Shanghai, Rellenong Talong, fried gizzard, Cebu Longganisa and their houseblended lemon Iced Tea. The sisig wasn't as splended as the other sisig I've tasted so far. The friend gizzard was burnt we ended up sending it back to the kitchen. The broth for the tinola was great but the chicken tasted bland. The only standouts (also barely) were the rellenong talong and the lumpiang shanghai. The only one we really loved was the Cebu longganisa. It was hard to review this Chika-an branch because I have such great experience with their other branches. I'm not sure what happened it but somehow between my last dinner at Chika-an Cebu and my recent dinner here in Bacolod something must have changed, and not in a good way. Should you eat here? Depends, their menu is a hit and miss but there are a lot in there so you might end up with a better tasting one.
