Moving can be....ummmm....stressful. Owner Alex's professionalism made it less so. He personally answered all of our calls, provided a written estimate, and called again to confirm before the move. Fair price, too. His movers showed up on time, were polite, and knew what they were doing. The move itself went surprisingly smooth. However, the day after the move, we discovered that the movers had done a poor job of putting the bedframe together....left out the integral support beam (and handed it to us claiming it was an "extra" piece), and for some reason, used fewer than half the screws provided to bolt in the slats that support the mattress - some slats were merely laid down and not bolted in at all. We were unaware because they had placed the mattress on the frame. On our second night, while sleeping, a slat broke in half and we sort of fell through the bed! Stress levels shot back up. The reason we're giving this company 5 stars despite this is because of how Alex handled it. We contacted him and he immediately offered to send someone out to replace the slat and fix the bedframe. About a day later, his repairperson did just that and all is well now. We'd use 22nd Century Van Lines again. We've heard horror stories about disreputable moving companies around here and its nice to be able to recommend one of the "good guys". read more

Trying to orchestrate the move of my condo in Arlington via phone from my home in NY was getting very stressful until I called Alex at 22nd Century Moving. Because I didn't have much furniture, I rented a 16' Penske truck myself and just needed some guys to help move the heavy stuff. "No problem," Alex said. What a relief! I was only giving him 3 days notice. Every other place I called required at least a week's notice. Alex's professionalism over the phone assured me that I had made the right choice. The morning of the move, I received a call from Wil, one of the movers. They had arrived 5 minutes BEFORE their scheduled time! Amazing in this day and age! I headed down to my building's loading dock where I met Wil and Mark. They were friendly, professional, and efficient during the entire process. If only I had called Alex and his team earlier I would have saved myself so much stress! Alex provided a clear professional outline of the services offered. We were moving a full townhouse so it was a pretty significant haul with a really big truck. The team were right on time, focused on care as well as speed. We had just got our new house painted and were really concerned about bumps or scratches on the new paint and there was not a single mark through all three levels and stairwells. They wrapped large items, dismantled others, got everything into the van and unloaded, unwrapped and re-assembled at the other end. The team clearly worked well together and even seemed to enjoy it and joke with each other along the way which made the whole day much less stressful. We have moved quite a few times and this was by far our best and easiest move yet, thanks to 22nd Century. They are so careful, professional, and incredibly efficient, and willing to go above and beyond (and out of their way) to help with whatever you need. Alex and the rest of the moving crew were an absolute pleasure to work with. The movers first laid down floor lining and wall liners to protect the floors and walls, and then they carefully wrapped/unwrapped everything that was moving. They were prompt, flexible when working with my landlord (a large apartment), and extremely accommodating to the issues on my end. They worked hard and fast and managed to pack more stuff in the morning than I was able to all week! They are definitely customer-focused, and were professional every step of the way. I had Alex move me from DC to Delaware. He and his staff took care to pad and wrap all of my precious furniture. He worked fast and efficiently while giving excellent customer service. They disassembled and reassembled furniture on arrival and even tightened up some loose bolts that were found on the dining table. I would use Alex and his staff again. read more
