This Georgian town-house right in the middle of Temple Bar is really something quite special.
The Irish Landmark Trust have taken on a plethora of unusual and historic properties across Ireland, renovated them, and let them out as self-catering holiday homes.
One of these is 25 Eustace Street in Temple Bar. Externally the building is only distinguishable by a small brass plaque on the wall. Inside it is incredible, complete with original wonky oak floors and furnished with genuine turn of the century furiniture, fixtures and fittings. Even the wall papers are authentically renovated.
This house was constructed in 1720, and the Landmark Trust describe it's early past as "risqué" which is deadly in my opinion. The building has had a wealth of history since and it is great to be able to stay somewhere with a sort of historical service booklet.
You don't get the opportunity to experience something like this often. So, If you have a large group (the house sleeps seven) and are coming to Dublin for a trip, I highly, highly recommend 25 Eustace Street. It is like stepping back in time from modern Dublin to Georgian Dublin and will really add a richness to any stay here.
These guys also have lots of lighthouses on the books, I plan to stay in one of them at some stage. read more
