    Our room with storage view

We had such a wonderful experience at Staunton's. Our room had a terrace and the breeze and fresh air were just lovely. The room itself was a little stuffy so the terrace was a welcome relief. The room was clean and updated and quite comfortable. The wall outlets provided options for USB, UK, American and even the same that I saw in Spain, so we had no need for adapters. The staff and service were great, and afternoon tea (well, cappuccino for me) was provided at no charge. Our server both days was so friendly, he even brought us cushions for the garden chairs without being asked. Our location could not have been better, perfectly situated near all the shopping and restaurants, even a metro stop. As a sometimes grumpy, often stingy (with stars) reviewer, I am delighted to give Staunton's five stars. I hope to return some day!

Guests are supposed to make coffee in this?

After such a nice stay at a boutique hotel in London, I was excited for our Dublin accommodations, "Stauntons on the Green, the most exclusive Georgian Guesthouse in Dublin." Well that excitement quickly died with my first impression...the lobby wreaked like an old person's house, an old person that perhaps had died several weeks ago. Might I suggest a partnership with Yankee Candle Company? The period furnishings looked like they had, in fact, been used continuously for 200 years. Upon walking down the street, I could only assume the bums sleeping on neighboring door steps were Staunton guests that opted for the streets. It certainly did not help we arrived at night. Things did not get better once we got to our room. The bedding, though clean, was horrific. Like many other hotels, Stauntons has seen the demise of the top sheet, which is fine except the comforter cover was ripped allowing you to see the contents were not in the best of shape. Ditto for the disgusting pillows. My husband chose to sleep on a barbie-sized travel pillow leaving me to fend for myself. The room was freezing, and we couldn't get the radiator to come on. There was also an impressive display of insects as well. Mostly the flying variety, but also a big ole spider my husband stomped into the rug. Great, now I can't walk on the rug either. No matter, that rug was also past its prime. We realized the next day a window had been left open in spite of the fact there are no screens. The bathroom was very clean at least, with a heated towel rack. No wash cloths or lotion, however. Now for the positive, the room was clean. The staff was very helpful. We were able to buy tickets for a hop on-hop off tour at the front desk. Although there is no on-site parking, they will park your car for you for €10 per day. You do need to give them about 40 minutes notice to retrieve your vehicle, though. The location was fantastic, right across the street from a large park in the city centre. Upon arrival, that park (which was locked up) looked like a scene out of The Shining, but when daylight came and it was opened, it was gorgeous! They even had a garden for the visually impaired. Very cool. And the furnishings in the other common areas were not nearly as bad as the lobby. Breakfast is included and was okay. Not great, but not bad either. So I was debating during our stay how to rate this hotel. I felt like this was one of the times that Yelp failed me, but so did other travel sites. Not liking to be the bad guy, I was trying to talk myself up from a 2-star rating. Until my husband showed me the coffee pot. It was not that it was stained or hadn't been emptied. It looked like a science experiment. You think it couldn't have been that bad? Take a look at the photo. Thanks to that coffee pot, I have to say "no thank you" for a return stay. However, new bedding and furnishings for the lobby would go a long way here. And throw out every coffee pot. They can't be saved.

Bravo Stauntons! We really loved our stay! Service is phenomenal. The staff is the most friendly and accommodating I've ever experienced in a hotel. The breakfast was fantastic. It was a sit-down breakfast with a cereal, fruit, and juice buffet. There was a choice between the Irish Breakfast and a Vegetarian Breakfast. Everything was delicious. The room we stayed in was a triple and rather tight with all our giant suitcases... Three girls and 6 suitcases. We are definitely not backpackers. The room was neat and clean. The bathroom was also clean, tub was rather narrow and slippery but that didn't bother us. The beds were not as comfortable as I would have liked but after a long day of walking and touring, my body didn't really care where I was sleeping. In the last day, we decided to stay another night because we just loved being so close to the city center and we were upgraded to a room that had a view of the green! The room was extremely spacious, with two full beds and one twin. We were living like queens that night! We loved that room and were able to get it for the same price we paid in our smaller room on the 6th (3rd floor in Ireland) floor. Like I said, the staff was SUPER nice, friendly, and accommodating. I would not hesitate to recommend this place. It was by far one of my favorite B&B's ever. Plus, there is free wi-fi... that was a triple bonus for us since I was writing my travel blog and could update it without fail! :)

While Staunton's is a nice hotel on it's own merit, the best aspect is the location: Right IN the city center Right ON the Green 1 block from the Tram and loads of bus lines 2 blocks from Grafton shopping and across the way from Sir Oscar's perch in the park! The rooms are cozy (i.e. smaller). However, they are clean and just right for spending most of your time out exploring the city center. Also, they already have the little extras you usually have to ask for at the reception desk, which is really nice when you discover you need an ironing board at 7AM. If that weren't enough, you can even find a really good deal online when they have cancellations!

For the price, my hotel room smelled awful and it was super noisy from the HVAC outside. I would take the noise of Temple Bar over that. I wasn't really impressed with the decor. We arrived from an overnight flight at roughly 9:30 a.m. and they were still prepping rooms but they stored our luggage and recommended a location to grab something to eat which was very good. Upon returning about 45 minutes later our room was ready and we found the room to be meticulous with a very comfy king bed, mini fridge, tv, and ample size bathroom. I saw a few other reviews that stated the bathroom doors would not stay open but I learned that is by design and we just asked for an extra towel that we used to prop the door open when needed. It serves to point out that the entire hotel is under a complete remodel so many of the rooms and features of the hotel are shinny new. They do offer breakfast in the morning and for the evening they do have a restaurant and bar. Just walk out the front door if you want a livelier crowd and more restaurant options The location of the hotel is prime as it offers proximity the River Liffey, plenty of shops, pubs, and attractions. We walked to the Jameson (25 min walk) and Guinness (30 min walk) factories as it also gave us the ability to take in things along the walk. You are close to Trinity College and both St Patrick's and Christ Church Cathedrals. lastly, I cannot say enough about the staff, Anne at the front desk was a warm and inviting pleasure and very professional, Marvin the concierge and bellman was super helpful and pleasantly informative, the house staff was attentive and always looking to make sure we were comfortable. The Brooks comes with my highest recommendation.

If you come prepared, they have a concierge and a genealogist on site to help you find your ancestors from Ireland. Many famous people and politicians have stayed in these walls as well. That said, this was a truly special time of year when they're getting ready for Christmas! They took such care and were meticulous with their decorations. It was delightful to come home to each evening. Experience: 1. They will tidy your room everyday 2. Turn down service begins around 6 pm (they will get your slipper, robe, bed, water and chocolate ready for nighttime) 3. Their small guest room includes a king size bed that is superbly fluffy. 4. The deluxe guest room has a deep tub for soaking Staff: The entire front desk staff is very helpful, welcoming and efficient. Marta was especially helpful and kind throughout my stay! As for the porters were just right with their assistance. I did always feel bad that I had not gotten any Euro on my trip, but I will mention Karl was fantastic! Always helpful and nice to talk with. Michele in the health center was informative and helped me find all of the rooms for their current gym as it's under renovation. Facilities: They have a 5 star spa on site that includes one of the best relaxation rooms I have experienced in the world. It's the view and seating that make it amazing. They give you a blanket, fruit, spa water -- all while looking over st. Stephen's park... bliss! (I went on a rainy day which added to the ambiance) The facial with Elemis product was my favorite. PRO TIP! if you're from the states and liked Elemis, there is now an Elemis outlet store at Kildare Village, which is a short train ride away. I made it there in 35 minutes. DINING: Again, 5 star experience and the restaurant is always packed. Chef makes superb food and I thoroughly enjoyed the room service of fish and chips. TONS of fish, perfectly battered and fried. If I could give the shelbourne a 10 out of 5 I would.

It is in a convenient location nearby many tourist attractions, such as Temple Bar, Dublin's castle, St Patrick's Cathedral, etc. it was also a short walking distance to our car rental pick up at St Stephen's Green shopping centre. We booked this hotel for the first day of our trip. We arrived in the morning so our room wasn't ready for check in yet, but we were able to drop off our luggage in the lobby. This made it easy for us as we could continue exploring according to our plan (we took a 30 minute train ride over to Howth right after dropping our bags). Coming back to the hotel around 5pm, our room was ready and we were able to nap a bit before dinner. The superior room we booked was located in a renovated section of the hotel and had access to a shared outdoor patio right across from our hotel room. We didn't have time to use the patio but it was spacious and it seemed no one was using it whenever we passed by. Our hotel room was very clean, large (great for us as we had plenty of luggage) and we had two complementary water bottles in the room. We had breakfast the next morning and it was buffet style. There is a section if you want fresh made omelettes. Lots of variety I think but I stuck with the classic Irish breakfast items. So delicious and fresh! Check out process - we had a bit of a hiccup as I had given my credit card for authorization for breakfast charges when I checked in. The staff was asking for my credit card again which confused me as I had already paid. Despite the confusion, the service at Radisson was great and I would definitely recommend this hotel for fellow tourists!
