There was minimal coordination with my individual therapist despite multiple requests, reflecting a concerning lack of collaboration. Also, documentation practices are questionable, Michelle told me, herself that she doesn't write notes, raising real concerns about clinical and ethical standards. Therapy clients who are brave and vulnerable enough to bring complex work to the table deserve safe, consistent, transparent and responsible care. I'm sharing this not out of spite, but to help others make informed decisions. If you are navigating emotionally complex issues, I strongly recommend seeking support from a practice equipped to handle those needs with care and integrity which this practice unfortunately is not.

ONE-STAR REVIEW My…read morewife was admitted to University Behavioral Health Center in Orlando on July 16. Our experience was disturbing, and I cannot recommend this facility. She slept on a paper-thin mattress with two thin pillows and two blankets that did not keep her warm. Staff repeatedly shined a flashlight toward her eyes at night, waking her. During the day, bedroom doors were locked, patients had to ask to use the bathroom, and they were not allowed to sleep or rest in dim lighting. They remained under bright fluorescent lights with no outdoor time. She had to repeatedly ask for toilet paper and wait for basic hygiene products such as deodorant. Bathing supplies were available only during designated times, and two roommates had to coordinate showers within one 30-minute period. Despite the restrictive environment, group therapy reportedly occurred only once or twice daily, and her psychiatrist visits lasted about five minutes. The facility has a pool and gym, but patients were not allowed to use them. Phone access for the entire unit was limited to three shared 30-minute periods per day. Adult visitation was only one hour, twice per week, in the gym. Visitors had to set up folding chairs and could not bring cellphones inside. Most concerning was the confusion surrounding her rights and discharge. She said she was not given a copy of her rights at intake. She felt pressured to change her status from involuntary to voluntary and was led to believe this was necessary for discharge. She was then told a discharge request would immediately be denied and could begin a court process to hold her longer. She was not offered an opportunity to contact an attorney before making these decisions. Staff gave us contradictory information. My wife was told she would be discharged, but I was told she would not. She was later told her discharge was delayed because staff had not had time to call me. When I requested updates, staff frequently seemed unfamiliar with her case. After an attorney became involved and an emergency petition for release was pursued, she was released immediately. The timing raised serious concerns for our family. Some nursing staff were rude and dismissive, treating vulnerable patients like criminals rather than people needing compassionate care. Mental-health patients deserve sleep, warmth, hygiene, clear information, meaningful treatment, access to their rights, and basic dignity. I am consulting legal counsel, exploring potential collective legal action, and plan to speak with my state senator about patient rights and compliance with Florida's Baker Act. A close relative of mine, who was admitted at the age of 10, experienced severe bullying from other…read morechildren during her stay. The facility is overbooked, leading to inadequate staffing and poor supervision. She described her time there as traumatic, feeling that she emerged in a worse state than when she entered. Many staff members lack compassion, and she felt as though she was confined in a prison-like environment. There were significant issues, such as the absence of running hot water, forcing her to take cold showers. The lack of supervision was especially concerning in the outdoor play areas, where she was bullied to the point that another child shoved grass into her mouth while staff were on their phones. Not one ounce of care. Kids sharing their traumatic experiences with others and grown men trying to flirt with kids in the yard. Disgusting!!!!! Additionally, there were troubling incidents involving older kids, some of whom had criminal backgrounds, and adults on the opposite wing who played loud, inappropriate music that young children could hear. Given these experiences, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. They say these places are suppose to help kids with this care but they actually come out worse. What I can't understand is why places like this remain open?

I contacted Rula (the company that set us up), and was told in an email, "According to their note, the decision was based on a mismatch in specialization, and they recommended a rematch to ensure you receive the best possible care." If she was so concerned about my care, she should've sent me a message telling me that she was dropping me as a client, why she was doing so, and wishing me luck. Ghosting me the way she did was very unprofessional and hurtful.
