Catara traveled to PA for our wedding, and kept in contact with us prior to the day, outlining the day and making sure she knew exactly what pictures we wanted and the style of photos that we were looking for. Catara has a great eye for setting up shots so that they're not too "formal", but more of a photo jounalistic style. Her husband was with my fiance & his groomsmen during the day, and Catara was with me, so it was great to see the pictures of my husband and groomsmen getting ready. Catara and her husband were very easy going, and during the "formal" pictures, she had great ideas for poses and settings. She also made us laugh during these pictures, which made for some wonderful shots. She kept us on track and reminded me after some of the family photos to make sure that we had some special shots of just my husband and I. We had three other photographers we were looking into, but Kerry stood out to us by far, with her unique style and brightened pictures. Not to mention the price for her beautiful photography was far under that of the other wedding photographers. We started planning our photos with her early on, because my husband and I were studying abroad for the year in England, but she was so flexible with us! We chatted with her on the phone multiple times, she was timely in replying to emails, and she was so enthusiastic! You can really see she loves doing her job, which shows in the pictures. During the actual wedding, we couldn't even tell she was there most of the time (which I think is a good thing). Besides the standard couple, wedding party and family pictures, she was invisible to the crowd and wasn't making her presence overly known. What I think was amazing was that she captured all of the moments shared that day, between the goofy faces my husband and I made, to a moment of silence for my mother, to us hugging guests after the family photos were done. It was so amazing. She also did something that I have never heard of, which I LOVED. She took us away at sunset to do sunset pictures. These were by far our best pictures of the night and I am so glad we got to do this! These will be the pictures that we hang up in our house. My wife and I hired Steven Dangerfield for our September wedding near the Columbia River Gorge outside of Portland, Oregon. We had an engagement photo shoot with him in Washington. He made us feel very comfortable and we had a lot of fun. He drove about 45 minutes all the way out to Snoqualmie Pass for the shoot so that was awesome. We took a few pictures of us jumping off a bridge for the save the date (think "taking the plunge") and we knew he was the photographer for us when he also jumped off the bridge at the end because it "looked like fun." The wedding was excellent. Pictures beforehand were well organized with a lot of people (at separate times to keep my bride and I apart). During the wedding he was everywhere and got great shots of everything - mostly in the dark later in the night when everything started getting crazy. I was very impressed with that. The cherry on top was the next day when he picked us up from where we stayed the night of and took us to Oneonta Gorge to find the beautiful waterfall. He hiked in probably half a mile with us carrying all of his camera equipment and got some of the best shots we have. He consistently went the extra mile and it was awesome.

To us, it is the *most* important thing you can spend money on for a wedding. Period. We had actually chosen a photographer (slightly out of our budget) hailing from Bellingham, but she had to cancel on us because she found out she was pregnant. We were crushed, but then... we found Laurel. :) Her website is fantastic, but she absolutely won me over with her personality! By our third email, I felt like we were old friends. When we met her in person, we just knew she was going to "get" us. She specializes in photojournalistic photography, which, in my opinion, is the only way to go for weddings. Just look at her site.
