A welcome relief after the shops full of the same old tat, this lovely light, airy shop has an array of beautiful things, and I of course wanted them all. Service was attentive but not obtrusive, and I was so pleased when I made my purchase as the care and attention of the wrapping of my earrings was so classy. It was a little more expensive than some of the other places, but still I managed to get a pair of earrings for €12, so I can't complain!

Laggia is the store of Alfred Laggia the local Venetian designer who creates incredibly complex hand made intricate mesh jewellery pieces in his studio in Venice. He makes tiny delicate pieces as well as dramatic large pieces which were a favourite of Gianni Versace in his runway shows. Ask to see the amazing mesh head pieces. Sabrina Laggia (Alfredo's wife) works in the store and can also show you photographs of his larger scale works. Because it is such a tiny store it is easy to pass it by, assuming that it is part of all the usual tourist fare. I highly recommend that you go inside and look at the designs as they are quite incredible. I bought a neck piece and a cuff bracelet both of which are a bit grand for me, but so amazing that I'm sure I will wear them to a special event in the future. If the shop is closed go across the hall to the wine store which they also own and Sabrina will let you in.

We purchased, the experience in store was wonderful, almost a month ago and we have not yet received any communication about our items being shipped. The paperwork given to us has an unusable email address and I am not able to find a store website or way to communicate other than calling which, I will have a friend who speaks Italian help me with soon. Hoping to hear from them about the order being shipped. It was quite pricey but we felt the quality was well worth it. If I was able to get in touch about my order I'd feel much better and this rating would easily be 4 or 5 stars. Just be sure you have a legit way of communicating once you leave the store.

We only discovered the studio on our last day in Venice and spent lots on wonderful Murano beads, they are so individual and totally different to the commercial Murano glass available throughout Venice. The owner of the studio, Lesley Genninger was so helpful and full of ideas for using her beads.The beads do not contain any lead and contain white gold, yellow gold leaf and silver, precious metals encased in beautiful coulors and glass. The Genninger Studio is an essential early on for our next trip to Venice and for anyone loving jewellery or making their own.

These stores or stalls look practically identical; the shop/stall owner may or may not be Italian and they'll be selling the same types of t-shirts, magnets, keychains, Carnevale masks and jewelry made of Murano glass. These souvenirs can be of dubious quality and most likely not be made in Italy. When I souvenir shop for people I avoid those stores like the plague. I try as much as possible to shop locally wherever I go and in most places when I do find a good shop I find it by accident. Feelin' Venice is an example of a local shop. You'll notice immediately as you step in the shop the difference in the layout and content from other souvenir stores. The shop feels more clean, the layouts is more simple and the designs in their merchandise is more contemporary. The shop has the staple T-shirts, bags, mugs and stationery but the designs are obviously more thought out and represent the city well. However this particular business has won me over because this was the store that I bought my most favorite souvenir of my 2 week trip: a rope bracelet with an attached iron prow that adorns all Venetian gondolas. I immediately fell in love with the bracelet at first sight and purchased it immediately. My only regret was that they sold it in only one size. I ended up losing it 2 weeks later and had to order a replacement online in a smaller size. The shop is located somewhere along San Marco. Use Google Maps if you don't want to get lost finding the store.

The glassworks are extraordinary. You see the pieces being created in real time and then you wander the store. There's no hard sell but, hey, you just got a free ride and a lovely show. On a personal note, I fell in love with a piece. It's the most beautiful art I've ever purchased. Any subsequent questions or help I've needed, they've been extremely responsive. Even had I not found anything I loved, I would have bought something small and found it well worth the price of adventure.
