Howard came to our house to assess the damage and informed me that Hunter Douglas was very good at standing behind its product. Despite months of back and forth between Howard and Hunter Douglas, ultimately, Hunter Douglas refused to accept responsibility for the damage. Being the stand-up guy that he is, Howard took it upon himself to accept responsibility and replaced the shutters. For me, although Howard should not have had to take on this responsibility himself, this sets an example of how I believe a local business should operate.

I stopped by twice (once per week) in the following weeks, which resulted in a total of three visits, plus one phone call. My product was never made and I never received a call back to have the measurements retaken so the item could be made. While the office staff was courteous, I am sadly disappointed by the service.

But, I'd rather the job be done correctly as opposed to a rushed, sloppy job. In the end it took much longer than anticipated. I admit I was a little miffed, but the tech cut the new mirror almost exactly as the 58 year old original mirror. So all beef was forgotten, but I did pay a handsome price for the custom work. Not only did they have a huge variety of options they were very good at keeping within price ranges and showing alternatives to more expensive options. They also helped us look at things we normally would have glossed right over (our kitchen back-splash in particular). We ended up with exactly what we were after despite having no idea what we really wanted going in. The service HUGELY outweighed any Hope Depot/Lowes and the prices were around the same if not cheaper. Not to mention Hope Depot said it would be 2-3 weeks for anything that had to be ordered (which would have been everything as they don't keep much in stock these days) and Village Tile is getting everything to me in less than 2 days... I strongly recommend going here over the big box stores. You will get far better service and support your local business owners!!
