A staple of the Brooklyn gay nightlife scene. There's pretty much always something going on here..most nights have events, and yeah, expect to grab tickets for a lot of them. You'll find everything from disco parties to drag performances (including queens from RuPaul's Drag Race), plus Survivor and The Traitors watch parties. The circuit parties are always a good time, but if you need a breather, the back patio is clutch. In the summer, the big outdoor downstairs space opens up, and if the weather's nice, it turns into a "who's who" of gay NYC. I came here for a Dia De Los Muertos event that blew my expectations out of the water. It was a Late Night food market event with live Mexican band music in the outdoor area. The food market had variety of Mexican dishes to choose from esquite truffle to tacos al pastor. They also had merchants selling hand-made Mexican products such as purses. After grabbing some tacos and cafe de la olla, I hit the dance floor with my husband and friend. The atmosphere was so festive that it seemed like everybody was dancing and enjoying each other's company as if we were at a quinceanera. Once the live music ended around 10ish pm, we went inside and continued the party with a live dj and delicious Mezcal mules, which was big enough to split into two cups. The dj started with some classic Mexican music and then continued the night with some old school reggaeton. I felt like I was 19 again and dancing at a basement party...the good old days. I had such a good time that I got bummed out when the party ended at midnight like I was Cinderella and had to leave before my carriage turned back into a pumpkin. I went with my friend last year and had a good time. I didn't know about multiple floors, but I do know they have an outdoor area where you can step out in the back. I would like to also mention that the DJ had great songs to dance to. Top hits. Pop. Classics. I went there for the Sailor Moon theme, so the costumes were absolutely on point. It was a blast! I would totally go back. I found the bartenders friendly and the vibe was chill. It was crowded, but there was still plenty of room to dance. It's definitely a gay friendly bar. Yes, it's cash only. SO much fun coming here. I frequent West Hollywood as I am an LA native but this venue really was something else. I couldn't believe the size of the backyard area. So massive compared to other bars I visited during my trip to New York. The music was incredible. They played a lovely song, something about country clubs and chemtrails? I do not know but I danced my little butt off. Drinks weren't bad price wise -- I just wish they also took cards outside instead of cash only. Super cool venue. Attended an event held outside in the court yard. It was a super hot day so they had a mister going which was awesome. The interior is also really unique with a stage as well. All the staff and bartenders were friendly and helpful. Plenty of bathrooms/bars so never found myself standing in long lines. read more

This club is so nice. The decor gives me a movie set feeling like nothing is real but it is. Hard to describe but very inviting. The bartenders handled to crowd with finesse. No one was thirsty for long. As always, drinks are pricey. That's one way of keeping people from getting plastered I imagine. The dancer floor was large and accommodating. The restaurant outback serves some killer shrimp tacos. Unfortunately you can't mix them ie 1 shrimp 1 chicken 1beef, they all must be the same. Only four stars because we had about a 45 minute wait to hear our favorite DJ (Danny Krivit) set but he carried it home until the very end. Will I be back, only if Danny is playing. The venue was really nice with booths and a nice outdoor area.. The owner was really nice a lovely Irish Woman whom I met earlier during the day when I came to check out the venue.... I came here to watch Oscar at the Crown. It's a fun show! If you want to do something different, colorful, musical, and in-your-face, I'd recommend it. There's really no great way to categorize it, but if I had to, it'd be "queer cabaret." These people are professionals! Their voices are impressive and you can tell they put a lot of practice and thought into their choreography. The story wasn't something my friends and I could really follow, but I don't know if it's even the point. It's something about Oscar Wilde and his love life. That's all I got for you. The bar has a hippie European vibe with funky drawings on the walls and a super spacious outdoor area in the back. Seemed like a fun and welcoming place to hang out at. I'd say to be there by 7:45 because they let you go into the show area at 8, and it goes from 8:15-9:30. Don't forget you're standing the whole time. 3 Dollar Bill is a gorgeous bar and performance space offering a home to the queer community and anyone who likes to have a good time in a friendly environment. Pre-COVID they did lots of drag shows, I spotted a poster for a Dolly Parton theme night. They have a bar area with booths and couches, a dance area with a stage, and outdoor seating with a resident taco truck. It's a one stop shop that makes it easy to spend the whole night there. I haven't been since the pandemic though. I love a good building with lots of unique decor and this place has it. Cobble stones line the floor of the bar (your stilettos may have issues), old world beer hall-esque wood and metal chandeliers, wood and sheet metal booth frames that resemble gypsy caravans when dressed up the right way, mismatched vintage light fixtures over the bar, stained glass behind it. And a coat check, so you can look fabulous in the cold. read more

I found this place walking around with my friend, I just walked in to see what the party was about and was surprised by the positive happy vibe of everyone here. It was Gay fair night, it is only hosted once a month at this location. I got to meet some artists and designers in person, the music was cool, the lighting and decorations of the bar made it like a really cool spot to hang out. Lots of vendors. There was a lady with a massage table on the spot, which was very nice to do also. She had a very gentle unique soft touch for her massage therapy, loved it. read more

Came to watch a show my friends were performing in (TRISH, 6/22/2021) and had an incredibly rude interaction with a bartender. My friend and I (who are both trans women) asked for some cups of water, to which this bartender (white, brown hair in a bun) responds crudely, "Did you buy anything?" as if 1) we hadn't already purchased tickets to get in, 2) my friend hadn't purchased a gin & tonic earlier, and I don't drink alcohol, and 3) it's fucking water. The show was stunning, with little credit to the bar. Just an interesting interaction for a trans woman to have at a pride event that more people should know about. read more

and they said "you are always welcome here" you know, like a LIAR. some of the most insane ableism ever experienced. went to the ticketed event for the mayhem album, my friend's ID was 2.5 months expired and they wouldn't let her in even though she had her scanned passport on her phone. did NOT wanna send her home alone late at night, especially because she's disabled (fibromyalgia, you know, literally the same condition lady gaga has,,) and i explained this to the staff yk, just asking for a little bit of sympathy (Chicago reference purr!) i was told to ask for Willy. So I waited, twenty minutes, for this Willy character to appear. Meanwhile said disabled friend was made to stand outside without assistance. Willy shows up. I explain all of this again to him. His response is that they absolutely Have to comply strictly because "they" are sending "undercover agents" to check. I ask, dubiously, "You're really concerned they're going to search every single patron?" And he shrugged and replied condescendingly "Well it could happen." And to my point of the issue of her disability, he responded "well it's really crowded and dark in there, so if she's disabled she won't be comfortable anyways and should just go home." And well, at this point I realized I was talking to a disgustingly ableist human being and the point would be moot. After some more arguing I got him to agree to at least refund her ticket and a $20 bill was slapped in my hand to walk outside to my friend who wasn't even allowed to cross the threshold. Needless to say, this was really vile. Thanks for nothing but horrendous vibes. Gaga would be truly disappointed. read more

Saw an incredible drag show here, it was Beyonce Through the Years and none of the performers disappointed. The vibes are great everyone is gassing up the people on stage, giving the energy back to them, it's beautiful. I will say though it gets pretty crowded in there and I sympathize with the shorter people that need to see, the stage is honestly not that high. Horrible management and organization. Great events though. But unacceptable way of operating. I was assured on the phone that there will be tickets at the door after they were sold out online. Party starts at 10. I drove 4h from MA for this event. Get there 2min before 10. They don't open the door until 10:30. We get to the door at 10:50, get our IDs checked, bags checked and then ask where can we buy tickets for them to say Tickets are sold out sorry exit is here. Rushed out. We walk out and ask where can we exit - no one is opening the rope. No one responding. I ask again where can we exit. Lady who checks IDs completely ignoring me standing right next to me and I tell some man who was standing there can you please open the little rope thing so I can exit and he does, not saying anything- I wasn't sure if he even worked there. If you say you will have tickets at the door and at some point you sell out then send someone to walk down the 3h long line and tell people that tickets are sold out and not to wait if they haven't bought them online. Also you can do 2 lines- one for people with tickets and one for people without so when tickets run out everyone is aware. It's a shame. Good food and drinks otherwise. Do better. read more

TGNC folks--heads up! I experienced transphobia and profiling at 3 Dollar Bill. I arrived with my partner and our friend to attend an event, and the bouncer scanned our IDs, all of which were verified. My partner and our friend were granted admission no problem, the bouncer stares at my ID for a while. I am 16 in the photo so I look quite different, obviously younger and with longer hair. However, my face still looks the same. After studying my ID, the bouncer asked me my birthday. I told him. He then asked me my address. I couldn't remember which address I had on there because I've lived in 5 different apartments since 2014. I offered to list every place I've lived in the past several years, but it was a no-go. My partner (understandably) got extremely angry and protective on my behalf, and told the bouncer he was being transphobic. The bouncer called for backups, and his buddies started yelling and called my partner a bitch. Our friend managed to get our tickets refunded while speaking to the manager, who maintained that a queer bar couldn't possibly be transphobic, and went on about how the bouncer we dealt with was the "nicest bouncer" on staff. I don't really care about missing this event, but being made to feel small, powerless, feeling like an easy target for some machismo guy to wield power over feels really shitty. I've spoken to others who have described negative, transphobic and fatphobic experiences with 3 Dollar Bill. Just wanted to give folks a warning before giving this establishment your $ read more

My partner was denied entrance here last night despite having a ticket and a valid ID. The bouncer saw that their ID didn't match their current gender presentation and asked multiple questions about the info on the ID, despite my partner being 32 and clearly the person in the ID photo (other than having shorter hair now). I was called a bitch when I started making a scene and yelled at by one of the bouncers. The bouncer insisted he couldn't be transphobic because he works at a queer bar, and also was not familiar with the term "non-binary". These days seems like Brooklyn is taking over the house music scene all good! Recently came here for the Victor Calderon bday bash & I was pleasantly surprised. Great .. great space really like the set up & somewhat gothic type decor. The bar area is a nice big open space to hang around in separate smoking, food area towards the back & a decent size floor for dancing not too bad. Interesting concept here with the bathroom being communal .. loved the "whichever" signs not bad but bathrooms are a bit of a hot mess really messy floors if u get my drift lollll. Loved the lights & sound system very cool, fun vibe in this place. Drink wise we stuck to Beer & water prices are not terrible typical to the clubs. Beer's nice & cold & so was the water all good quick enough service by the bartenders. The event was a lot of fun to say the least .. this place is fun keeping fingers crossed that it survives. read more

My friend is visiting from outside the States so we came here one of his first nights here. The bouncer was being such an asshole to him for no reason and made snide, condescending comments, so I was so embarrassed that that had to be my friend's first impression of NYC. The drinks were a bit expensive, but the bartender rubbed me wrong the most. I got to the bar, made eye contact with him many times, waved him down, everything. He took his sweet time serving herds of white gays before me, even though I was there before them. Aside from that, the music was so good and it is a beautiful venue, so I'm on edge about coming back. Being subjected to micro aggressions from white muscle gays is not my vibe though. read more

My son and his husband got married at the 3 Dollar Bill 3 days ago. Not being from NYC or gay, this Bostonian had no idea what to expect. We had the BEST TIME evah!! There are 3 very different areas: the room for the ceremony, dinner and dancing; the bar area; and the outside patio. Each area had a different feel to it, had colorfull murals for photo ops and were very spacious. It was great to have these options not only to change things up, but it created a very lively flow of energy. The owner is very conscientious and attentive to detail. She went out of her way to ensure a successful wedding. As a mom, I was super impressed with how clean the 3 (whichever) bathrooms were. Never thought I'd say that about a bar bathroom!! The music, food, drinks, lighting, decorations, set up, servers, bartenders and all around service was superb. This venue far exceeded expectations! It was THE BEST WEDDING evah!! I would not only highly recommend booking this venue for a whichever wedding, but encourage you to invite me. I look forward to your invitation. We had our holiday party here, and it was a pretty fun. There are three distinct sections - the bar, the dance floor, and the outdoor area. Bartenders were great, but the bar in the front is a bit too narrow for large crowds. Way more room on the dance floor, including the stage. Outdoor area is cool, with lots of room and tables. That's also where their on-site food vendor Del Sur Cocina is. Their food is... palatable at best. Not the best tacos and burritos, but maybe just because of the volume they were producing for us. Here's a fun game - watch your coworkers get confused as hell at the unisex bathrooms. My friends and I went to this club to celebrate a birthday. The club has a weird no cell phone policy, but we we wanted to have a good night, so we went along with it. The club put our phones in these locked sleeves, which we could tire around the club. Upon entry, they stamped our hands and write our phone check/cost check numbers in our wrists in permanent marker. Well, towards the end of the night, I wasn't feeling well, so my friend retrieved my jacket and had my phone unlocked by the staff. He then called me an Uber and walked me outside to make sure I got into the car safely. It was around 1:30 or 2 am in the morning. I later found out that after walking me to my car, the staff refused to allow him reentry. At no time did the staff state that we could not re-enter the club. He could not even call any of our friends because they too had their phones locked. He, instead, had to wait outside of the club until everyone noticed he was missing. Talk about ruining someone's birthday. This is an awful way to treat paying patrons. We all paid a 20 dollar cover to enter the club. The staff watched him walk me to the cab, then return. They saw that he did not have his jacket and that his phone was still locked. I find this unacceptable. This is the first and the last time I visit this establishment, and I will tell all of my friends to steer clear of this place as well. Venture at your own risk. read more

Mediocre fun, unreasonable door policy. Go spend your money elsewhere. Went on Saturday night with a group for my boyfriend's birthday. It's a huge space, random layout, ample room and long bar. The music was very meh, but to each their own. $20 cover at the door after 11. When we walked in, they stamped our hands and wrote our coat check numbers on our wrists. They also make you put your phone into a locked magnet pouch at the door, so it can't be used while there. You can slip it into your pocket but can't get in the pouch. I liked this concept initially because it prevents those friends who are always on their phones from being on social media the entire time. But I had a very negative experience later in the night here that really spoiled things. One of my friends got a bit drunk and needed to go home, so I walked her out, got her phone unlocked from the pouch, and ordered her an uber. Once I made sure she was in her car safely, I tried to walk back in to meet my boyfriend and other friends. But the people at the door would not let me back in, they kept saying "NO REENTRY," which is allegedly posted on the front door. Now I get that these policies exist for a reason, but this just seemed crazy and arbitrary. These people watched me help my friend out of the club and put her into an uber. My hand was also clearly stamped and my coat check number was written on my wrist. It's not like I had gone to another bar next door and then tried to come back in. It was abundantly clear I had paid my $20 entry and was a patron at the club. But this didn't matter to the staff here. This also made me ask the question, what is the point of the hand stamps at all? None of the staff could reconcile this for me. Enter the phone pouches. While I now had access to my phone since they unlocked it for me while not letting me back in, no one in my group inside had access to their phones. So I had no way of contacting my boyfriend or other friends inside. This is the bad side of the pouches that certainly cancels out any of the positives I mentioned earlier. All in all, there are so many other queer bars and clubs in Brooklyn that you can go to instead of this place. If this is how they treat patrons who spend money at the door to get in, I don't foresee them staying in business for too long. read more

I went to 3 Dollar Bill for a drag show and I honestly had a really good time. The service was really good, and the show was great. The drink and food I got were great too. What I had a problem with was the bartenders and their made up prices per person. When I first went up wot one guy, I was paying once price, and getting really good drinks. Then when I went to another guy, it was a different guy and not great drinks. I opened up a tab with the original guy, but somehow by the end of the night my bill made absolutely no sense I was waaay over charged. The organization in the back is messed up for sure. I would love to come here again, but am in fear of being gouged at bar. Guess I can only come with cash? Seriously, people cautious with your cards. Wouldn't trust them at all. read more
