I had a decent experience at The Rosemont. I will admit that I probably would not have visited had I read the Yelp reviews prior to my visit. Our bartenders, Mike and I cannot remember the woman's name, were very friendly and chatty with my friend (another African American male) and me. I will admit that we visited the bar on a weeknight so there were not a lot of other visitors in the establishment. Luckily, I did not have the same negative experience as some of some of the other reviewers. I hope this means that the establishment has changed some of it business practices. My original review was removed for not being a firsthand experience (talking about how a friend of mine experienced racism from the staff on Juneteenth by the bar staff) but it still exists elsewhere on the internet as of 6 December 2022. Unfortunately, I also have a negative firsthand experience here from around 2017 (or 2018, but I'll find that receipt later). I went here with a few of my friends, because they wanted to see a particular performer visit this place. When I tried to order at the bar, I was straight up ignored until a friend of mine came over and ordered on my behalf. When I went back a few minutes later, to get some napkins and water, I was again ignored until a different male friend of mine came over and ordered for me. A common denominator is that both of my friends who ordered for me were non-black patrons and successfully made purchases with no blockers. At the time, I didn't think too much of it because I don't go into situations assuming that people are racist. I tend to assume that maybe they're having a bad day or that they're just bad at their job. Now correlation does not equal causation, but when a black friend of mine tells me that they visited this bar and was essentially told to GTFO despite saying nothing inflammatory and there are tons of other reviews from POC noting that they had an unsavoury and racist experience here as well, it is plausible to say this establishment has a history of racist behaviour to POC and black people in particular. Another good reason to not like this place is because I was physically harassed by another patron (which is not the bar's fault) but when I discreetly brought this up to the bouncer, he did not care at all. I'm pretty sure security is a part of a bouncer's job responsibilities lol. To top it all off, someone stole my hat! This place sucks. read more

Staff are just plain rude. We were standing to the side deciding if we wanted to go in or not and they told us "you can't stand there" even though there was no one in line. We then moved and they proceeded to tell us "time is running out. Why are you taking to long to decide if you're going to pay a $5 cover?" which was completely unwarranted for. I would not support an establishment that treats their customers like this. If you have to pressure people that hard for $5 I doubt it's good. read more

Some (not all) of the staff here is extremely rude and disrespectful. Some girls doing cocaine in the bathroom were annoyed that I knocked on the bathroom door and one cut my throat with her keys. They were friends with a bartender who then tried to throw me out (unsuccessfully as the bouncer saw everything go down) and laughed with these girls as I was bleeding. Then another bartender refused give me my card back when I tried to close out and leave, saying "I'm not going to pay attention to you or do anything for you so stop taking up room" That being said, the drag queen as well as some patrons and other people on staff tried to help after the assaulting girls were removed. read more

LOVE this place. Came here for after work relaxation drinks and it was just what I needed. I can see this spot being a hot spot on weekends but it was pretty empty on this particular weeknight. It as a fantastic outdoor space with plenty of seating, and the indoor bar is split very astutely into a dance space and a seated space. Drinks here were also very cheap (happy hour perhaps) at $5 each for wells. read more

A friend mentioned this place so we decided to give it a try. Dimly lit with good music playing in the background. Interesting mix crowd here everyone from gay men to boho chick ladies to the hipsters of the area always like a place with a good mix crowd. Bar area upfront, seating around the sides & they apparently have an outdoor space, would be nice to check out when the warmer weather comes around. Small stage in the back plus a piano, I hear they put on shows, probably fun since the space is not that big. Late happy hour specials is what brought us here goes till 9pm we got some Blue Point beer nice & cold can't go wrong for $5 dollars not bad at all, The bartender she was nice & attentive. We enjoyed a few drinks, very chill place good vibe & as long as the happy hour goes late worth the try. read more

The Rosemont prides itself on being Brooklyn's best LGBTQ+ bar yet their actions say different. Two weeks ago, I was a victim of a hate crime at the venue that my friends and I frequent pretty often. I was hanging out in the back patio on my birthday while a bucket of urine was thrown across the privacy fence. Multiple workers of the club including the bouncer expressed that this wasn't the first time that this has occurred. Coming from Orlando and the Pulse incident I believed Rosemont was not only a safe space but one that cared about their patrons. Getting in contact with the owner of the club after filing a police report that night was a hurdle as they responded to me two weeks later. Being that this has happened before, I highly advise everyone especially my fellow LGBTQ+ family, to NOT participate in the narrative that is The Rosemont. It's honestly disgusting that an establishment can be aware of things like this happening within our community but do nothing to hinder it from repeating itself in the future. read more

I went with 2 friends to what I thought was going to be a fun night December 17 at 10pm. I mean, who can go wrong with going out to have a gay old time to a neighborhood gay bar. Well, it happened. The second I walked in to this empty place, the bartender yelled at me to ask for my vax card. I was in shock on how rude he was. I kindly told him to not to be so rude and took out my proof of vaccination. He then when ahead and told me that if I didn't like his tone to get the F out of here. I went to sit with my friends but by then I was beet upset. They agreed with me that the bartender was rude so we got up and left to go to Metropolitan bar down the street. Where the staff was super friendly and my night went excellent there. I will never ser a foot at the Rosemont again. read more

Racism and anti blackness are alive and well in Brooklyn and this bar is a a part of the problem. I went to the Rosemont last night to celebrate a friend's birthday and within minutes of arriving and hopping on line, one of the unprofessional folks at the door made a complete scene. This happened after they went out of their way to randomly *yell* out to snap at us after listening in to a literal private conversation completely unrelated to the bar, and tell us that "if we don't like it here, we should just get the f*ck out." I'm not sure where this line of thinking came from, or what provoked this person, but the rest of the incident began when I, a black person, made a sarcastic comment about the irony of the person at the door going out of their way to treat a black folks poorly on Juneteenth. Is this person really employed to listen into peoples mundane private conversations and then threaten to throw them out? I guess so. Despite this persons threats to not let us into the bar, we ended up going in, ordering drinks, and then reconsidering after gathering the gravity of the prior incident. My (white) friend went out to confront the person working, at which point she was told that the person working was "not a racist," and couldn't have done anything anti-black essentially because they aren't white. Sure. That's definitely how that works lol. Either way, the owner of the establishment who was initially not present, came forward to tell us that we--and definitely not his own staff--were "causing trouble and needed to leave." As convenient of a narrative as that may be, if a customer indicates that they experienced prejudicial behavior from staff at your establishment and your first instinct, especially as a white person, is to blame the customer, you're doing a bad job. The other person at the door yelled after us after we left to, "go to another bar like Three Dollar Bill or something!" And, they're right. Go to a bar that isn't racist! Spend your money elsewhere. As folks in previous reviews have said: the actions that this spot has taken are not indicative of an establishment that is likely to change. The bar owner is more committed to protecting problematic staff members than making black people feel safe and welcome in the establishment. We ended up going to Metropolitan instead and did not encounter any problematic behavior from the staff, and also appreciated the pro-black statements made there during the drag show. read more

This is a delightful little spot! Highly recommend for date nights, or something a little more chic. They have a fantastic outdoor space, so if that's on your radar-great place for it. A friends brother bartends here and I'm glad we made it in on a recent trip to NYC. The party starts late here so when we arrived around 11pm it wasn't uncomfortably packed yet. It's definitely a cozy neighborhood bar also known for great drag shows. Our old a** selves only stuck around around for the first set. The second one was after 2am! That WAY passed my bedtime. But so fun! The staff are super fun and friendly. They also had a coat check which was a nice touch. A fun place indeed. The entire bar feels like a family. The staff are super kind and welcoming. A safe queer space!!!! I was there a few weeks ago and a woman was assaulted by her out of control girlfriend. Everyone stepped in and handled it with grace. They removed her immediately and protected everyone inside. When she tried to come back into the bar, they prevented her re-entry. Several members of the rosemont team came over and asked everyone if they were okay and if they could do anything. The patio is cute, the drag queens are amazing and very talented. All around my fav Brooklyn spot. I'd go at the beginning of your night or very late to have the best time. read more

used to go there all the time. one night i paid them at the door to check my coat. they gave it away to someone and couldnt recover it. the night it happened, they asked me to wait until the entire bar closed to see if someone just left it around the bar and talk to the manager. the manager gave me an incorrect number to text her to follow up. literally having to take them to small claims court to recover $1000. i was super nice about it to, even gave them a week to recover. they told me even if i paid them to check it. it's not their responsibility, which doesn't even make sense from a legal perspective. so just in general, really shady business practices. read more

Wonderful spot I found randomly on Yelp! The bartender Johnny was so nice & helpful with the cocktail menu. The happy hour is an INSANELY good deal ($5 cocktails all 7 days of the week until 9pm!). So ya...reason enough to go here). The space is also extremely clean yet inviting which is hard to come by - the decor all around is V cute. I live a couple blocks away and this bar is a Great addition to the neighborhood! I love the live jazz they have on Thursdays through Sunday, and it's Free! So tip the band and tip your bartender so we can ensure the Jazz remains a key attraction. Ambience is chill and sexy. BUT the kitchen section / kitchen lighting is definitely a SORE EYE! It ruins the vibe, but it looks like once the proper kitchen is up and running that it will better assimilate into the interior of the space. Love the plants and booths. I think they could use some sort of soft spotlight over the mirror that is the drink lists. No one can tell that's where they should be looking for drinks and it's also waay to the left of the bar. Get a better spotlight! I'd also like to make a special callout to the bar-back who has been beyond attentive: every time I've been there, he is always bringing the band cold water and started bringing it to guests too! What an awesome hospitality detail that DEFINITELY did not go unnoticed. In terms of drinks, I'd stick with the classic cocktails for $11. The price is right! If you're in the mood to splurge for a specially cocktail, try the one with Mezcal! Called Daddy's Water Burns. read more

Live jazz and nice hang out spot in Williamsburg. They even have an outdoors area, where you can enjoy the not-so humid NYC nights. The cocktails are priced at $12 and up. Not a bad price but it did take us about 10 minutes standing by the bar to place our order. I don't blame them though, it was pretty busy on a Friday night. Very good intimate date spot. read more

A ton of gay men and not a lot of gay women (as is kind of to be expected), but it's still a relatively welcoming environment despite my friends and I always being some of the only women there. Cute, neighborhood gay bar with friendly staff and great drag shows. I don't touch alcohol, if I'm hanging at a bar it has to offer more than great drinks...and the Rosemont does just that! But I hear that Mercedes makes the best cocktails, so definitely ask for her when you stop by. read more

Great experience here and exactly what I was looking for. Such a great environment to have some delicious drinks and listen to some light music with my girl.
