We rented the castle for our wedding weekend, including overnight accommodations for our family, and while we appreciated the unique setting, he repeatedly crossed boundaries during our stay. Throughout our wedding night, Douglas frequently entered or attempted to enter our rented spaces uninvited, including coming down to our side of the castle and asking us to turn off lights to save electricity. While I can understand wanting to conserve energy, several guests returned to their rooms after leaving lights on and found them off, which was unsettling and felt like someone had been in the room. We paid a significant amount for the venue, and it's hard to imagine that the cost of electricity would come close to what we paid for the event. The situation made us and our guests feel like our privacy wasn't being fully respected during what should have been a private and personal celebration. During the rehearsal and throughout the weekend, Douglas made several comments that felt unnecessary and intrusive. During the rehearsal, he told my husband and I to "act like you like each other" because he felt we weren't standing close enough at the altar, though there were much more appropriate ways to make that suggestion. He also repeatedly remarked on my hair being down, referencing medieval customs. The frequency of these comments over the rehearsal, wedding night, and breakfast the next morning made the interactions uncomfortable. Our parents and other guests also noticed how he spoke differently to the younger adults in our group, often in a condescending tone. During the reception, Douglas and Josephine helped clear plates as guests finished eating, which we appreciated. However, a few guests witnessed Douglas taking a plate of food and a cookie from our catering as he returned to his side of the castle. We weren't upset about it, but it did feel odd since it hadn't been discussed beforehand. The venue itself is stunning, but couples considering booking should be aware that the owners remain very present and involved throughout the event. Sometimes in ways that make it difficult to fully relax and enjoy your celebration.

We did the wine tasting and had three generous pours for only $7 each. There is some variety of dry, semi-dry, and sweet. What I really loved about the experience was how warm and welcoming the staff were, and how beautiful this venue is! We loved taking our glasses of wine and exploring all the rooms (including the roof top patio). I will definitely be coming back to enjoy the $5 glasses of wine and to pretend I'm in an old Speakeasy.

The upscale facilities of the Hendricks County Fairgrounds set the Fair above other local fairs…read more The fairgrounds are equipped with all modern buildings, Conference Center, new sidewalks and a huge parking lot. This is the most impressive fairgrounds that I have visited in Indiana. I paid my $5 admission with granddaughters in tow, and attended day 2 of the Hendricks County 4-H Fair, along with more than 1000 other people. The buildings and grounds are pristine. Exhibits and vendors were in the Conference Center. Despite the crowds, it was easy to move around and see everything because of the wide aisles and logical layout. The number and quality of the exhibits were incredible. Lego constructions, posters, cake decorating, sewing, baking and wood working are just some of the entries that I visited. A "Chopped Competition" was in progress and attracting a lot of excitement. Another special offering of the Fair is that 4-H exhibitors will oversee and allow handling of the animals by attendees. My granddaughters were beyond thrilled to hold a bunny and cozy up to a Jersey cow. They asked questions and learned about farm life. Placards stating interesting agricultural facts are scattered throughout the fairgrounds. There are demonstrations scheduled daily, such as wood carving. The arena is large and open. We watched horse competitions during our visit. And there is plenty of fair food. I counted at least 30 food trucks offering anything from potato ribbons to iced slushees. We opted for the 4H Cafe, that was serving pork burgers for $5 and 50 cent milk shakes! The pork bbq was very good, while the grilled cheese was overly greasy. Of course, it wouldn't be Indiana without a car show. Antique and classic cars are on display near the entrance of the Fair. The kids enjoyed seeing the old cars. Carnival Rides are available July 14-19 and are a special blend of vintage and new technology. Concerts and other special events are listed on the fair website. Restrooms are modern and maintained. The walk from the parking lot was a haul - we got in our steps. Bring water, hat, sunscreen. There are hand washing stations near the barns. The grounds are fully wheelchair and stroller assessable. The Hendricks County Fair has everything to offer that the State Fair has with lower prices. If you only do one fair this year, I'd recommend a visit.

The furniture is cozy with a woodsy cabin decor. I can't wait to go back in the summer to enjoy water activities with friends and family.

We checked in for our stay in the Hotel, staff were friendly and told us about amenities. There were 4 elevators located off of the lobby, good signage to help you find the convention center, pool or casino. The hallway on the 8th floor was beautiful and wide. I enjoyed the pictures of important areas around Terra Haute, IN and learning about the history. The casino was brightly lit and featured all the latest video machines. We don't play the table games but there were lots of people playing. Everything was very clean (bathrooms too) and there were lots of staff & security around. We stopped at the bar in the center for a drink. Kaitlyn was super friendly and made me a fantastic pink Cosmo! Hubby lost all of his allotted money LOL but I won about $100 so I was happy (he usually wins and I lose so...lol). Our room was also beautiful and spacious. The bed was very comfortable and I slept great. They use flat sheets on the bed (instead of fitted as is common in hotels) and my sheet was too short and had come undone by morning. The thermostat for the heating/AC was easy to find and use but the cooling unit was extremely loud every time it came on. We had to turn the TV volume up because it was that loud. The bathroom was big and had excellent lighting for shaving and makeup. I appreciated the makeup mirror on the wall. The shower was great but no bars to hang onto (just in case) and no handheld shower head. We would definitely stay here again when in the area!
