We absolutely love the downtown, and we have 2 favorite places to stay- the Candlewood and the other big hotel across the street. Each has it's own charm, but I personally prefer the Candlewood. The rooms are expansive and come with a kitchenette. The location here is key- this is right on the corner of 7th and Wabash. Downtown TH has some super fun bars and restaurants and they're all a hop from this place. The hotel is quiet, clean, and like I already mentioned, the rooms are huge. Every time I am here I sleep like a baby- the beds are so comfortable and the hotel is quiet. I love their workout room here too- it's got everything I need to have an excellent workout while I'm on the road. It's super clean and has a nice range of equipment. Overall this is an excellent hotel. Even after our son graduates next year, I can see my wife and I coming to Terre Haute to enjoy a few of the restaurants in town, and we will definitely stay at the Candlewood Suites again.

Room refrigerator has a great ice maker and ice machine too with the recycles bins room! They have a huge locker with appliances you can borrow during your stay. Great work desk and chair if you're here on business. Beds were comfy and 4 pillows on each queen bed, nice supply of towels. Storage in the bathroom on the wall kept my makeup out of hubby's way. Cold A/C with a constant fan option . Large TV maybe 55". Easy parking and a BBQ pavilion too! Pet friendly and NO ODOR! Frozen meals, snacks and free coffee in the lobby. Free laundry with clean washer & dryers. Good food and cocktails a very short distance from the hotel. IHG rewards program.

Was mortified to have the room closest to the elevator as an IHG member booking weeks in advance. There's a pool. Free breakfast. And because of that, lots of families and kids running rampant. And that one guy that came down to breakfast in his bare feet. Please, people, this isn't your damn home, put on some crocs or slippers. Humans! Also, this is yet again another Holiday Inn where the curtains are permanently set to shut out 10% of the incoming glaring light from outside. Why did they design their blackout curtains to stop at 10%? Ridiculous. Prefer the IGH Express in Terre Haute to this Holiday Inn.

The 'room darkening' curtains were designed not to close. How crazy is that? When I contacted front desk staff, I was first told "This is a maintenance issue and I can't help you." When it was determined that that the curtains were designed not to close, the front desk staff said (I kid you not) "Some people like to sleep with the lights on." Unbelievable. Suffice to say I got no sleep that night in a $179 room. Holiday Inn staff didn't give a hoot about it. I was offered 'points' in their club, which are essentially worthless for the occasional traveler. A terrible, terrible experience compounded by an uncaring front desk staff. Avoid this place like the plague! I'll never stay here or in another Holiday Inn again. Better options are available.

Although the staff is small in number, they are quintessential hosts. The food is homemade; simple yet exquisite. The performance company is likewise phenomenally talented, drawing cast from near and far to blend into an exceptional show. The lobby is quaint yet modern, adding a nostalgic vibe you don't find very often. Yet another extraordinary feature is the restrooms. They are Individual and unisex each with a stunningly unique design theme. I would strongly recommend reservations (available on-line as well as at the box office) due to the somewhat limited- but all the more intimate- seating capacity. I cannot recommend this venue any more highly!!

I just saw a delightful production of Cinderella, with a delicious TV Dinner-inspired buffet of turkey and dressing, meatloaf, pot roast, pork loin, green beans, corn, peas and carrots, and mashed potatoes. These were preceded by their delicious broccoli salad and tossed salad, and even better than before yeast rolls with apple butter. There were also an apple crumble and peach cobbler (with a wonderfully buttery dough), as well as additional desserts that can be purchased for intermission. The new owners, Mark and Misty McGrady, have made sure to keep the atmosphere built by the founders, Donna and Richard Myers. As a returned Hillsboro native, Mark understands what this institution of over 25 years means to the area. They changed the broccoli salad slightly, just making it crunchier, and added a French salad dressing that had been served when a hotel restaurant occupied the space where the dining room/auditorium now is, in addition to Donna's original sweet and sour dressing for the tossed salad. Both were wonderful, like all the food. And then there's the price. Although the price is the same as another dinner theater about 56 miles east of them, for a weeknight show and seats on the very edge of the auditorium, the other place is $27 more than Myers for weekend evenings, in the center section (and that's ignoring that place's $5 surcharge for a 2-top, or $35 surcharge for the last row, which they call "box seats for two"). I have been there once, but Myers Dinner Theater is the one I keep returning to. While you're there, visit one of their uniquely decorated restrooms (whether you need to or not). My photographs of three of them should tell you why.
