Very cute cafe in Brownsville that specializes in quesadillas. They serve breakfast all day, and have a great variety of taco/quesadillas to choose from. The staff are very friendly, and if you're unfamiliar with the restaurant then the manager/owner will come out to give you some information. It does seem that the staff struggles with English though, which can make it a little difficult to order. For food, I got the: nopalitos quesadilla fried, the chicken mole taco regular, and the barbacoa taco. They bring out two different sauces, some cabbage, and pickled onions for you to dress your food yourself. The food was absolutely delicious! They make their tortillas fresh and everything is made right after you order it. They do such a good job with the tortilla texture, and I loved everything I ordered. Ahhhh! Brownsville just keeps getting better. Back in town, we decided to try 3 Marias out on a whim. We'd been eyeballing the place since our last trip but tonight was the night. We walked in and were greeted by a lovely woman (presumably the owner) who was working at one of the tables. She told us to seat ourselves and grabbed some menus. As she approached, she asked us if it was our first visit. We nodded as we sat down in the no-frills but very well decorated and comfortable table. She was wonderful. She introduced us to...not only the menu but to the history of the food, the regions from which they came and even went as far as to explain each dish. She made several suggestions which we took her up on and then went about her way. The food was simple. Beautifully seasoned and prepared and delicious. The ingredients spoke for themselves. The sauces that she brought out to compliment our meals were so good. So spicy and tasty. I do my best to reserve my 5s for those that are deserving and 3 Marias is deserving. This is my boyfriend and I's FAVORITE taqueria in Brownsville.. we frequently have breakfast dates here and our favorite is the taco frita chicharron en salsa verde. Has to be one of the best tacos I've ever had! Both of us have left Brownsville but this place is one of the top 3 reasons we'll be coming back soon :) Thankful for the owner and all the staff for feeding us delicious food for the past 2 years! read more

Have only been there once, the empanadas were delicious! I love their selection of empanadas.

I have been here several times and find the quality, quantity and value to be good. It is not fancy by anyway but pleasant. Expect to wait 20 minutes to have your food delivered as it is made when you order. They serve breakfast (eggs & pancakes) as well as the tacos and soups. The chicharron, puerco and cochinita pibil tacos are good. They are served with red onion and cabbage on the side. They add flavor to the tacos. Can not say much for their sauces as they are basic. I prefer the flour tortillas tacos vs the empanadas. You get more for your money. The only draw back I found is that you must drain the tacos as they are very moist. Over all, I will continue patronizing this establishment. Note: I went during COVID 19. The establishment is about 18'X30'. It has 8 tables and there were 23 customers. I felt uncomfortable with the arrangements. They should remove 2 tables in order to create separation between patrons. read more

I placed a large order and they went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. I called in because I was trying to order through Grubhub and the menu wasn't correct, the woman who answered informed me that it would be better if I placed those order with her and then through Grubhub so that what I did. She was super helpful and when I let her know the order was for a wake for my friends family member that passed away and I would like to write a message on the packaging she included a card and some flowers. Seriously really made such an impact. Their food is amazing, the establishment is super clean and the service has always been great but those small touches really make all the difference! First time trying this place out, didn't even know it existed. It's been there for 3 years! Their specialty is quesadillas, so try that. They have flour or fried corn tortilla options. I tried the desebrada, pork, and the picadillo options and wow. They were really good! I was impressed! I tried both flour and corn options- definitely love the fried corn tortilla option! It's a very small space but very cute. Prices are great ranging about 1-2 dollars each quesadilla. The rice and beans were ok- kind of bland. Food was ok. I enjoyed the freshly made corn tortillas and overall the food tasted good. The only thing I didn't enjoy was how dirty the place was. All over the floor we saw old sugar packets and trash from previous customers. Okay, so first of all, Yelp called this out to me as a "coffee house". They do serve coffee but I think calling this a coffeehouse is a gross misuse of the term. The bulk of the menu is quesadillas, individual small dishes folded in a tortilla. I'm getting a little bit spoiled but even the average flour tortilla here in Brownsville is apparently delicious. The coffee is passable, but I didn't find hot coffee to be an especially good compliment to the otherwise hot food. Aside from just sheer variety, the high point here for me was the pan de elote, a semi sweet cornbread available ala mode. Definitely spring for the ice cream, the warm/cold contrast makes for good mouth feel and a better companion to the coffee. read more

I LOVE Tres Marias , every time i am in town i have to have the fritas (empanadas) they have a great variety of guisos, the coffee is great and they also offer pan de elote which is the perfect mixture of sweet and savory definitely try the Pan de elote! Also the requeson is the best!! i always get a requeson frita its so good! The service is good too. One tip though wish they would not water down the cream so much.
