Coldest beer in Brownsville. Best fajita nachos in the valley. I've tried almost every item on the menu. Ceviche is very good. Hamburger is awesome. My favorite is the pancho villa plate. American enchiladas yellow cheese and chili with two beef tacos. Can't go wrong. Thats the food. Now the staff is the friendliest people. Always a smile and great service. Came by to eat lunch with coworkers and my meal was huge disappointment. I ordered the dinner portion of the chicken fried steak with mash potatoes and veggies and not the Lunch special. Had to switch to side salad since they had no veggies. The steak arrived smaller than expected, cold and double fried which tasted very rubbery and hard. When I complained about it was not as expected and missing the onion rings too, they said that's the way it comes now. It tasted like left over microwave dinner that was reheated. Everything on the menu is tasty from ceviche to their patty melt. They serve generous portions so come hungry. The fajita nachos are a popular staple and a large can be a shared appetizer or a shared meal. Their enchiladas are also popular with locals and come with some nachos so you use your nachos to eat your plentiful side of refried beans. The shrimp plate is fabulous with big beautiful Golden Gulf shrimp and comes with 2 sides. All the meal portions are generous. You will not leave hungry. I have been to the vermillion in Brownsville several times to the old one and new one. The place never disappoints.

This restaurant was my first stop when I visited Brownsville. It is lively and opens late, luckily. Not your typical tex-mex restaurant if you frequent them throughout the rest of Texas. The music bumping in the background is definitely not Mexican either, but had plenty of bass and made the place lively for sure. I made a reservation about 45 mins beforehand on a Friday night and was able to get seated within 5 minutes while others who arrived at the same time were just waiting around. They are known for their Pancho Villa plate and Fajita Nachos Deluxe with avocado. Well many reviews say avocado but they brought us guacamole. Some of the more interesting and unique menu items: Homemade fried pickles, hand-breaded onion rings, Vermillion wings (which are double fried), Homemade beans a la charra, and Zucchini melt. They also have lunch specials ranging from 8.99 - 16.29 depending on the day. We ordered the fajita nachos with guacamole, a fajita plate and Pancho Villa platter filled with beef. I also added a cheese enchilada. Of course I added a cold draft beer and one of their wine-based margaritas. Unfortunately they do not have a full bar...which is a bit of a surprise considering how long they've been in business and most Mexican food restaurants do. The fajita meat - this restaurant is not famous for their fajita meat, and it was dry like I was expecting but it did have fairly good flavor. I prefer mine cooked medium rare. The nachos - was only able to eat half of the half platter, it was just too much and reminded me of chalupas. The Pancho Villa was a pretty large plate, and the beef tacos were the real winner. The enchiladas, similar to the nachos, seemed to have a processed cheese blend on top which I wasn't a big fan of. Overall, I loved the atmosphere and ghe food was decent. Nothing really blew me away but the service was good so I will round up for yelp purposes. read more

We have never been disappointed with anything that we ordered. They recently prepared an order of enchiladas/rice/beans for a dinner party I hosted. Everything was fantastic. I've eaten here twice for lunch with my co-workers and twice is enough for me. First time I went I had a burger that came with bbq sauce and it was absolutely drowning in the sauce. The sauce was gross in my opinion. I couldn't make myself eat it. Fries were basically raw. Second visit I got the fried chicken sandwich. It's very large, but not much taste and again the fries were under cooked. My co worker got the double fried wings and I tried one and we both agreed they are overly salty. We decided to go to Vermillion because we heard people talking about this restaurant. At the restaurant we were asked to sit anywhere, after 10 minutes no-one came to greet us or give us a menu. During the 10 minutes of waiting, another couple came in and they were given a menu and server asked for their drinks. We had to wave for a waiter to come and serve us the food was not great, the refried beans were too dry and the rice was uncle Ben's with flavoring. Also the chip and salsa had to be purchase, I live in Houston and never have I ever paid for chip and salsa, chips and salsa are complimentary at any Mexican restaurant. The service and food was not good. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

I had the Panch Villa which consisted of 2 beef tacos in a perfect soft shell, 2 cheese enchiladas with a side of chopped white onion and rice (outstanding) and refried beans (Yum). Both were on the Tuesday special and again I'd recommend. I had driven by here so many times (we are Winter Texans) but lot was always packed and I have a big F250 which is hard to fit. My wife said park across the street. She sometimes has the best ideas. Sorry we are leaving soon and if possible will try to get back before that. I came here to have a dinner with my colleagues while I was visiting Brownsville for work. The menu is written in English and Spanish. They have two separate sections. One is a regular restaurant and other is bar. They have a music band play. I asked the waitress what she would recommend. She recommended Enchiladas. So I had it. I loved the sauce over it. Also the chips are very tasty. The portion was pretty big. I could not finish everything. The service is super friendly and I highly recommend this place. read more
