Quick trip today to San Antonio to get 2 huge oak trees and several small trees a desperately needed trim. Found a great company whom we highly recommend -- 3 Monkeys aka Green Valley. Met with them Monday for a quote and got the work done on Friday. The owner, Edgar, is professional, friendly, thorough and gave us a great price because we paid cash. They also take credit cards. His crew (7? guys) worked quickly and did a fantastic job. Gabriel, the foreman, was also very friendly, outgoing and knowledgeable. I had a large pecan tree which had shed leaves and pollen and nuts for several years now. That wouldn't be so horrible but the tree was right next to my pool which made maintenance and clean up almost impossible. It also had a fungus which I did not know about but which Sergio diagnosed. The nuts had never been very good and they were very small. 3 Monkeys tree service did a great job in removing my tree. They were prompt worked quickly and cleaned up very nicely after themselves. We had 2 large Texas Mesquite trees that were growing over the house and needed to be removed prior to roof replacement. He made a quote over the phone for $1500 based on the photo I sent him. I told Sergio that there were 19 date palms and 7 fan palms that I wanted hurricane trimmed, a stump to remove and a crepe myrtle to trim. He responded back with a picture of a three foot sago palm that was trimmed and shaved and said they would do the trim and shave to my trees. On the day he arrived, he said he would have to back away from doing the job because he misquoted the price. He could not do the shaving and the stump for that price. Like a fool, I told him go just go ahead with the trimming only. He shaved only one tree and cut down the stump. He trimmed all the othe r trees very nicely. When he presented the invoice, it included tax which was not a part of his quote. Before be came out, after he quoted 1500, I asked him if I would get the veterans discount. He said yes, that it was 5%. Th we total came out to $1623.75. I, again asked him about the discount and he said it was already in the invoice. I was so disgusted by then that I just paid the price without the discount just to get rid of him. Don't trust this man's word!!! Get it in writing up front only after he has personally viewed the job. My trees look nice but I severely overpaid for this job. read more

I called Sergio the owner of 3 Monkeys Tree Service after he failed to pick up the logs he left. He failed to clean up our yard after taking our money. He seemed so nice before we paid him and suddenly rude and unkind when we requested he come back and do as he promised. He told us he would clean up our yard and he failed to do this. All his future customers should be aware of his dishonesty and should never trusts anyone and you should never pay anyone till they do as they promised. I wouldn't be surprised if he has problems in other areas of his life if he can't be honest with customers. read more
