This was my daughter's first year at BXP, and her fourth year overall in dance. We tried two other…read morestudios prior to this...one very classical for ballet (which was not my daughter's cup of tea at the time), and another studio whose program was recreational and not quite the experience my young dancer wanted. BXP offers the variety of classes she wanted, and the teachers have challenged her. The growth at the end of the year was clearly evident. Towards the recital, my daughter needed extra support, I asked for it and she got it. My favorite part as the parent was, of course, the recital. :) The recital was gorgeous! Fees were not as expensive as some of the other schools, and considering it took place at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre, I felt that we got a good value. Performing as professionals do has increased my daughter's love of dance. Not sure what more a parent could want from a dance school. I was shocked to find a one-star review of this place (from 2013). That review does not at all reflect the experience we had at BXP. Maybe there have been changes since then....but there are many students who have been dancing with them for over five years. I hope that my daughter becomes one of them.

We celebrated VDay and my partner's BDay here…read more I have been to a couple of painting parties and they are always fun. This studio has 2 separate rooms like others I have been to and they hold 2 different parties at the same time. I couldn't hear anything going on in the other room. Our teacher was Taylor and she was a lot of fun! She kept our class moving but also took time to answer questions and help out when needed. We did a VDay painting where each of us painted a canvas that is half of the painting. They meet in the middle! This was cute because while some folks had almost perfectly matched up paintings, others had sides that were more unique but still worked perfectly together! We brought in a cake to celebrate his BDay along with some wine. Food and drinks are welcome! I met the other teacher Terri and she does the paint your pet class. You send them your pet's photo and they trace it on the canvas and then you paint it. I really want to do this class! This is a fun date night or girls' (or guys!) night out!

I went to my first concert here last night, and I am hooked. The trailhead is a perfect venue for an outside concert. The stage has a concrete dance area directly in front, and the seating area is a grass area that slopes upward, ensuring everyone can see the show. Outside food and drink weren't allowed, but two local restaurants served food and the venue sold drinks. One of the food vendors (Lago) sold shrimp fajita plates for $5. Beside the fajitas, the plate came with rice and beans. It was great. I cant imagine another place to get food, drink and music for so cheap. The performer last night was Sunpie and the Louisiana Sunspots and they were incredible. I have always enjoyed Sunpie, but in this small of a venue, he really shined. The dance floor was packed with kids, and adults dancing to every song. I thoroughly enjoyed this concert and hope to attend several more in the future. These concerts are perfect for families or couples who want a cheap night out.

Well worth the trip to Lacombe. $3 admission and a lot of history of the area. They are only open for three days a week, so make sure they are open before driving up. Close proximity to New Orleans and the surrounding areas. I would love to come back and bring friends with me. I highly recommend this to everyone.

There are a lot of pictures about the history of the area and of the Battleship Ponchatoula. Amazing. I would recommend this to anyone interested in the history of the area. The admission is free, but they do accept donations.

I was searching for random museums and attractions in like 100 mile radius of New Orleans and this…read morecame up. While I was out and about on a day off I had randomly during the week, and I stopped in. When a place says that they have the most of item BBB in the US, I kind of take it as well they must have a lot of item BBB, so let's check it out. Well, in this case, they must have the largest collection of Teddy bears ever. The lady walked me around, and I was like, yeah, there are a lot in these cabinets. I'm not sure it's the mostest, but sure. Then we get to the rooms and it is floor to ceiling bears everywhere. Bears that are animated. Bears that are so old you wonder how they are still in one piece. Bears so old and fragile, I was afraid to look at them wrong in fear that they would fall apart. Yeah, it's all the way in Picayune, Mississippi. But if your in the area or passing by, stop and take a look. It is well worth the $10 admission for adults. They do have a large room in the back for events like birthday parties, baby showers and so forth. They are hoping to get a license to do ice cream and various sweets and treats.
