I recently dealt with an unauthorized homeless encampment located on my vacant commercial property. To properly address the situation and proceed with a coordinated cleanup effort involving several Miami-Dade County departments, a trailer located on the property had to be removed. Taking responsibility for the matter, I personally contacted Alpine Towing and arranged for the removal and destruction of the trailer. I paid the company $664.40 for this service. While Alpine Towing did initially remove the trailer from the property, I was shocked to discover two days later--when the scheduled cleanup took place--that the same trailer had simply been parked approximately one block away. This allowed the individuals who had been occupying my property continued access to the trailer and its contents, completely defeating the purpose of the removal. When I contacted Alpine Towing to question why the trailer had not been destroyed as agreed and paid for, their explanation was that they were "giving the people a chance to retrieve their belongings." This was not the service I paid for. Based, on the agreement and payment, the trailer should have either been secured on their premises without public access and later destroyed as requested. Despite my attempts to resolve the issue, representatives from the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office and the Commissioner's Office had to get involved and confront the company. Only after this intervention did Alpine Towing respond and finally move the trailer to their secured property. I personally had to follow the tow truck and witness them place the trailer behind their gate to ensure the service I paid for was actually completed. I have documentation supporting my complaint, including proof of payment and evidence demonstrating that the trailer was improperly relocated instead of destroyed or secured as agreed. This experience was extremely frustrating and concerning. A company providing towing and disposal services should be held to clear standards of honesty and accountability. Based on this incident and similar complaints shared by others in the surrounding community, I strongly believe this matter warrants further review. Alpine Towing are thieves!
