Vinings was a great apartment for the last couple years... until Southwood Realty bought them out…read moreand changed the name to Haven at Wild Dunes, fired the manager, and drove out the best/nicest maintenance man I've met. On top of all that, as if we weren't already paying ridiculous prices for small living spaces, rent is being increased by hundreds of dollars at the end of our lease. $1,400 for a one bed one bath that's pretty much just a studio with a separating wall? No thank you. $1100 was already too much, I don't care how "good the views and location are". It's not like your amenities get used, the gym is small and not a wide range of equipment, the pool is closed half the time, package delivery is confusing and I've filed more non-delivery or stolen complaints with Amazon in the last two years than I have in my life. Communication is sparse here, and you're unlikely to get the same information from two different employees in office. Read the fine print of your lease, what you signed to begin with is how they're doing it. If you wanna end your lease, you better give a 60 day notice with your forwarding address ready. Any less and they put you on a more expensive month to month lease up to or through that 60 days even though the "new" realty team requires 30 days.

This is an awful place. Let me start off by saying I own a business and handle customer care and…read moreservice on a daily basis these are awful people. In Sept of 2018 hurricane Florence struck Eastern nc causing water damage to my apartment. My apartment lease ran till February of 2019. I have a wife a newborn and a 4 year old. After the hurricane we we're displaced from our apartment indefinitely. Water damage meant air movers and dehumidifiers in our home total of 15!!!. They wanted me to keep the themostat at 67 and pay for the air movers electricity on my dime. There contractors used my $1000 Dyson vacuums plural to clean up SHEET ROCK. I have newborn there's mold in my walls, they cut half the walls out and removed the insulation. Nothing was repaired until I turned in written notice to vacate and turned keys in January. I paid thru December even though the apartment was unlivable. Gave 120 days written notice I I was leaving and still these people want to EXTORT people who have been displaced during a storm with children for months!!! All they had to do was fix the apartment in a timely manner 4months is not timely. 4 months and YOUR contractor destroyed two vacuums you took food out of my kids mouth and made us live in a car!!!. You people are disgusting.

I was in the low income housing field for a total of 28 years. Although I'm retired now I feel I…read moreneed to explain how public housing works. Let's say an unit rents for $500 and the tenant's share is $50, that means that taxpayers pay the different. It's a good deal. Right? Well yes it is but the tenant has some obligations to meet. Examples: Don't lie about your income (Fraud) Notify manager immediately if you need a repair and when they come to fix it let them in. (Or you'll be responsible if the problem gets worse.) Yes the rules are strict. For example if your rental lease says 1 person lives there with rental assistance it doesn't mean other people can live there free for the taxpayers to pay for. Read your lease. It seems like tenants that don't work always seem to think that you should work 24 hours and seem to never see the hours posted in your office door! Unless you've worked in low income housing you could NEVER understand the paperwork and inspections that is required. If you've ever had a job working with the public you'll understand how hard it is the keep your mouth shut when people are disrespectful and hateful. I have to admit I'm not too good at that either. A lot of money has been spent on Brentwood Village in the past few years and it takes a lot of work to keep it that way. It's beautiful, be thankful and keep it that way. If the rules don't work for you give your notice and move. Low income housing is in great demand. I still see a lot of my residents all the time. Most of them thank me and the few that don't-didn't follow the rules. OH WELL!
