I decided it would worth a drive to see if she really was as good as I had remembered her being. The answer, for me at least, is YES. Heather listened to all of my wishes and my gripes and concerns and didn't mind that I constantly (hesitantly) pointed out parts that I thought could use more layering in, etc, but also pushed back when she knew it was a bad idea ("If we layer any more here the ends will start to look too thin"). She's a wonderful person and a talented stylist who was able to balance all of my wishes and what was actually possible with my hair. The salon is clean, open and airy with a nice R&B playlist going in the background! You know how with some stylists when they blow dry and use a flat iron/curler to your hair you can feel the extreme heat on your scalp and ear? I didn't feel a thing the entire time. I was absolutely comfortable and didn't need to hold down or cover my ear like I'm used to doing. They'll be seeing me again! Very satisfied!

That's fine if the hair strands are thick and can handle it, but one look at my hair and you can see that each strand is fine. Although he did use heat protectant, he passed once with Marcels, then again with flat irons, and then again to curl with the flat irons. My hair was basically flat to my head with curls at the bottom. Fluffing didn't help. Fast forward two weeks, a deep condition, hair mask, steam treatment, and wash... the heat damage is irreversible. I'm not mad at anyone. It was the risk I took. Bottom line: The service isn't personalized to your hair or even your hair type. Just whatever makes your hair look aesthetically appealing, regardless of the method or the damage it may cause.

Today was my 2nd time being serviced here by Mohammed (1st chair stylist) My first experience here…read morewas in February 2026. My hair was so badly damaged from numerous of things but the meds I was on for 3 weeks has taken my shoulder length hair down to almost ground "zero" before sitting in his chair. I had received tons of "bad advice" to just cut it all off and start fresh because it was ALL DEAD HAIR & couldn't be saved in which wasn't an option for me. There were too many commitments I had before me to be scrambling around just to be presentable. I informed Mohammed of what all I had gone through with my hair since September 2025 going from shoulder length to (mid ear on one side & just above the ear on the other)from so much breakage and it falling out in clumps . Mohammed felt the texture of my hair all over, and urged me to sit down. He asked and "who said you needed to cut it all off"? No, I could fix this he got to work and trimmed it to the point where it appeared to still have some life left in it. It also appeared to look healthy, although I was a lot more "bald headed" , (not really) but the hair that wasn't as damaged he INDEED saved. Moving forward 3 months later, Luckily for me my hair grows rather quickly. It was right at the tip of my shoulders ( but still damaged a bit from February) I was back yet again, Today for color and ANOTHER one of his magical trims and he DEFINITELY came through on both. Mohammed (Abdou) NOT ONLY invested in my healthy hair journey by gave me so many great tips on Do's/Dont's for my hair going forward. I was also not feeling well due to Allergies, asthma, and laryngitis he also, gave great and caring advice regarding that as well. He felt like apart of my extended family. What a Gracious and Generous soul I am forever grateful that I was spiritually lead to pass up all the other shops I could have and ALMOST stopped in for advice on my hair loss catastrophe, and was lead right to him. I informed her that my hair was thinning and I didn't know what to do. After washing my hair, feeling the texture, gauging my new growth; she recommended i try to go natural. Why, she stated I had 2 inches of new growth and that my hair texture is manageable. Therefore, if I stopped getting relaxers my hair would not only be thicker but healthier. I guess she could see how skeptical I was because she laughed and said more or less you'll see the results once I'm done and then you can judge. Ladies, this woman made me never want to put a relaxer in my hair ever, and since my visit in March I haven't. First she washed my hair with Mizani products, which I appreciate because I know for a fact this line promotes healthy hair. Even so, Brittany goes even further because she uses an anti-breakage product by Carol's daughter prior to putting excessive heat on your hair. A lot of woman don't know that prior to flat ironing, blow drying, yanking and pulling you have to use a moisturizer and/or anti-damage/anti-breakage oil to prevent damage caused by the heat whether your hair is relaxed or not. I was so thankful that Brittany recommended I start doing so, prior to my visit I never did. Anyway, after blow-drying she went through every inch of my hair with a very small fine flat iron. I thought it was a comb lol! Once done, she then curled my hair. I should mention ladies that I brought clip on tracks (please hold your laughs lol) because I really desperately wanted fuller hair. With Brittany I didn't need it. She made my hair look very full with the curls and it looked like I just got a fresh perm. I love this woman!!!!! I could go on and on about my great experience. I highly recommend Val's and Brittany because it is hard to find a salon and stylist that actually care about healthy hair and hair growth. Trust me, you won't feel like you are just another client. I would say my only suggestion to Val's is to lower some of their fees. I never had to pay $20 for a trim in addition to my other services.
