After a thorough consultation the fun begins. They have a closed shampoo room, with lowered lighting, soothing music, aromatherapy and a wonderful scalp massage. The hair color for my MIL was always perfect - a strawberry blonde. For myself I am natural white and grey. I occasionally get some 'color' on my white- I have done blue, pink, lavender and most recently a dark purple. My stylist evidently got sidetracked when she was cutting and my right side ended up way shorter than my left but she used product so that I would not notice. I am somebody who read reviews and the only negative reviews I saw on the leather lounge were a couple directed at the stylist named David. I was curious to see who this big bad guy was. When I saw David today he was working with a very elderly female he couldn't of been more gentle and loving to her. When she went to leave he even took her arm and helped her out. Originally, I was a lil wary about purchasing a Groupon for hair service in Indiana, since I'm so used to going to Chicago, and who knew Groupon offer hair service , but Lather Lounge was absolute wonderful. Angel was my stylist on 2/7/19, and she was great! She really took the time to explain the way she does the highlights, the toner options, and the length of time remaining during the process. I love that, and no one likes to sit there and just wait and wonder how long the process was gonna be. I asked for ashy blonde highlights, and this girl did it, and I was soooo pleased! I got a highlight, cut, and style with my package. I also chose to do the complimentary facial steam, eye relaxer, and hand massage. That was very surprising, and different than Chicago. Best part is that I finally found a hair location that close to home, so no more driving an hour in to Chicago! The atmosphere is reAlly nice too. They play relaxing old school music, and even offer refreshments. They close at 7pm on weekdays, but Angel worked with me until past closing time, and was an absolute doll. The place is a bit tricky to find, but it's in the huge brown building with plenty of parking spots. Just a friendly reminder, they can't process tips on credit cards so bring in cash. This was my second experience at The Lather Lounge, and just like the first time, it was amazing! Zac is wonderful! He's funny, he's talented, and his scalp/neck massage is to die for. He took his time with my hair (it was a HUGE transition that I was going for today.... nearly a foot in length was taken off) and made sure he consulted me at every single step to ensure my satisfaction. I love it!! The salon itself is warm and inviting, the staff is friendly, it's clean and the aromatherapy/washing station nearly put me to sleep from being so relaxed. I walked in and was cheerfully greeted. There was only one stylist working on someone else and I had to wait. Initially, I was a bit put off by this but boy, let me tell you, the service was exceptional and that wait period was no longer on my radar. Melissa was my stylist. She had zero concerns about cutting my hair. Very friendly but not overly talkative; just the right amount of interaction. Melissa probably chopped off about 8-10inches and I loved it! I normally don't schedule a next appointment because I'm typically not wowed by my haircut, but not today, I scheduled my next hair appointment. I purchased a groupon for haircut, deep condition, style. The salon is beautiful. My stylist, Melissa, was very informative and professional. She listened to my needs and delivered exactly what I wanted. The shampoo and deep condition was to dye for. Melissa massaged my scalp, neck, shoulders, arms, and hands during the deep conditioning process. The treatment included facial steam with aromatherapy. I was a little nervous about how she blow dried my hair, but she took her time when she straightened my hair. The hair cut was excellent. I was concerned about keeping length, but she did not chop off my hair. Melissa left my hair silky straight. I will definitely come back again. One of the best salon experiences I have ever had. The only reason why I'm not giving this five stars is because my hair was not exactly styled the way I like. I'll still have to put some curls in my hair myself. read more

I am so sorry to have to write a bad review but I felt compelled. I first visited Lather Lounge using a Groupon and it was a great experience. However, I won't be returning after today. I made an appointment for my daughter to get a cut and color. I was immediately put off by the 45 minute wait she experienced before ever having a thing done. Why did I make an appointment to wait almost an hour? And then? The only time the hairstylist I paid more for (they have a pay grade based on level) worked with her was for the cut only. Someone else washed her hair and someone else styled it at the end. My daughter said it felt like they were burning her scalp during the blow drying and her neck hurt during the washing. We won't be returning to this establishment and I am sad because my first experience was so good that I thought I found a go to. I guess not. read more

I have been going to lather lounge for a few years now. I have always had a great experience and love this salon. My grandmother and my cousin also go here. We are all regulars and get great service. Veronica is absolutely wonderful; she listens and always does such a great job. When I get my shampoo and conditioning always relaxed and done very well. Veronica is the only hairdresser I go too since I started going here and she is the best hairdresser I have ever had. After being recommended by a friend, I found a groupon for cut, style, and deep conditioning treatment. This place took all the stress out of starting at a new salon. It's a very small salon, 4 chairs, 2 sinks and not much of a waiting area. The music was the slower side of classic rock. Upon arrival you are greeted and offered a beverage, then they show you the menu of available conditioning treatments and aromatherapy scents. Then, when they are ready, they call you in to the shampoo area. Now starting with the wash, soooo relaxing. Scalp and neck massage followed by a steam towel facial, aroma therapy and hand massage. Then onto the stylist chair. My stylist was Melissa, and she was awesome. She took the time to all questions, learn my history and provide a full consultation before reaching for the scissors. We came up with a plan and she got to work. The result was a cute sassy cut that I am very pleased with. She recommended some styling products to help achieve the new look. I plan to make this my permanent salon. In today's hurry hurry world it is nice to feel pampered and appreciated without breaking the bank. read more

The best Salon experience I have ever had was at The Lather Lounge. The owner and her staff are friendly and knowledgeable and take quite a bit of time asking questions about what you want and expect from your color and cut. I was in desperate need of a hair cut as I am growing out a shorter hair style and I was very nervous to trust someone new. I was NOT disappointed. Lynn did not cut my length, she evened out my hair and made it possible for me to wear it down nicely while I grow it out to a longer style. She gave me some beautiful high and low lights with color perfect for my skin tone. WIth so many choices of complimentary services, I asked her to pick the best ones for me. Included are different choices of shampoo for rinsing out your hair color, aromatherapy session for your face (so nice!), choice of hand, scalp, neck massage and more. Can't remember them all. I loved the way she styled my hair. If only I could do it myself. Lynn told me that I could come back and she would help me learn how to style it the way she did. I walked away feeling like it was money well spent and I got what I asked for and MUCH more. This salon has an open fully stocked "Color Bar" which is really cool and plenty of product. I give this review 1 star because two of the girls seemed genuinely concerned with my experience but the damage had already been done. I had set an appointment using a Groupon since I had just moved to the area and wasnt familiar with any of the salons. Now mind you i was wanting my cut and color done for my wedding anniversary so this meant a lot which I told my stylist. Well I got to my appointment and he was behind, fine. Well I sat for almost 30 minutes before he got to me. He gets to me we go over color which I was unsure of and what I wanted for a cut. While my dye was sitting he was still working on the previous client. After my shampoo and conditioner was rinsed I then sat for a good 10 minutes with wet hair as he finished his previous client having a fun leisurely time while I sat cold. Finally when he got to me my hair cut was rushed and when I got home and brushed it straight found out my cut wasn't what I showed him and nothing was really done. My time and look was compromised because he was to busy chit chatting and taking his time with his last client and since I was his last client mine was rushed. While I was there I mentioned I didn't like the color and boy did he get defensive saying well this is what we discussed. I could see he was getting agitated with me so I tried to just let it go. Well two very nice women there I think one was Veronica and the other was Katie were concerned about why I didn't like it and I mentioned I thought the color was going to be darker. My stylist again chimed in and said we discussed the color in detail this is what we discussed. My thought is why are you arguing now I feel uncomfortable. The other women wanted to fix it but I was already upset with his attitude so I said don't worry about it its fine and they insisted but I was still not wanting to because at that point my experience was ruined and my look for my anniversary was ruined as well. When I said don't worry about trying to make it better at this point I never want to come back to this salon my lovely (and I use that word with sarcasm) stylist replied with you can't make everyone happy... yeah to my face he said this. So if you read my entire review and experience do not I repeat do not go there or if you do, do not schedule with David. Also if you get a Groupon make sure you get everything that says it includes because I didn't. read more
