Food was pretty damn good, got the jerk wings, Mac n cheese, stewed cabbage perfect plate and serving size (thank goodness I didn't get the dinner we would've never left). Gotta say that Mac n cheese....should've ordered more. Everything was delicious, home cooked, and the Carrot Cake the owner offered...tasted like home. That's about it, tastes like you stopped by Nanas house or Aunties house and dinner was waiting. Not a huge establishment, so if you're going with a large group better call ahead but we'll most certainly be back for the ribs next time and more Mac n cheese. Its a spanish grocery store. They sell bakery items , meats and produce. Similar to Bravo or Unidos but smaller. Located in Polk Counter in Winter Haven area. They do not have a glass case for meats and seafood like other grocery stores - They pack the meats and seafood in styrofoam trays and priced and place in cooler shelves. So Oxtails are precut and they are sliced not too thick. Its good this way cause its easier to cook them. They have parts where you need to trim the fat. The prices ranges from $11-16 depending on weight. I bought an eggplant here also needed for my dish for $1.49 - No they are not chinese eggplants they are the huge ones like you see at walmart. The bakery cooler section they offer array of flans flavors and tres leches cakes. They also offer cookies and pastries in a regular shelf near the cash register. Staff here understand english if not you can always ask a customer to translate for you.

By far the Haas avocados we purchased from Santiago's were the best we have been able to find after moving to the area several months ago. Almost every avocado we have purchased elsewhere "ripened" into garbage and ended up getting tossed. Not these avos! They ripened very well and it was a joy to consume them! Not knowing if this was an outlier we returned a couple of weeks later and purchased more. Just as good! This time around I hit up the hot/fresh food service area and selected a tripe laden soup and their equivalent to chicharrones, which appeared more like pieces of fried pork belly. Both were delicious! I did add some red pepper to the soup (it was semi-bland to me) which elevated it quite a bit. I returned again today, for MORE of their avocados! I also opted to get some more of those pork belly looking chicharrones! I also ordered a small container of marinated octopus pieces (it was very fresh and delicious). Unless I find a better Hispanic Market (I had actually been searching for a Mexican Market, but they seem to carry all types of Hispanic and Caribbean food items) this place gets the 5 star approval rating!

My future wife's family loved the BBQ as well so it was such a treat to take my mother-in-law to Peebles for her 85th Birthday after we returned to polk county to retire. We were amazed at how almost nothing had changed. Great BBQ done simply. No air conditioning, gravel parking lot, simple tables in a screened in area and white bread served with the BBQ meat of your choice. Great food, friendly family servers and a step back to a simpler time that should not be forgotten.

We got the buffalo dip, queso fries, quesadilla and chicken sandwich. All were fresh and super delicious. The quesadilla was so large, there was enough for two meals.
