I needed to buy oxtails for a dish and the closest market was this store nearby. I have been here before but I only bought hot food plates not necessarily produce / grocery items. Its a spanish grocery store. They sell bakery items , meats and produce. Similar to Bravo or Unidos but smaller. Located in Polk Counter in Winter Haven area. They do not have a glass case for meats and seafood like other grocery stores - They pack the meats and seafood in styrofoam trays and priced and place in cooler shelves. So Oxtails are precut and they are sliced not too thick. Its good this way cause its easier to cook them. They have parts where you need to trim the fat. The prices ranges from $11-16 depending on weight. I bought an eggplant here also needed for my dish for $1.49 - No they are not chinese eggplants they are the huge ones like you see at walmart. The bakery cooler section they offer array of flans flavors and tres leches cakes. They also offer cookies and pastries in a regular shelf near the cash register. We came here on one of my quests to find chicharrones, the real type of fried pig skin with pork pieces still attached, which was recommended as a possible store selling them. I did not locate any, but we ended up buying plenty of fruits, vegetables, rice, spices and a couple of bottled sauces. The prices were great on a few of the items and a little on the expensive side for others. Overall, a good deal. They had a remarkable looking hot/fresh food service area that had about 20 different dishes, being served up cafeteria style. We had just eaten beforehand so did not partake, but I kept it on my radar. The line went out the door, so I took that as a plus as well. By far the Haas avocados we purchased from Santiago's were the best we have been able to find after moving to the area several months ago. Almost every avocado we have purchased elsewhere "ripened" into garbage and ended up getting tossed. Not these avos! They ripened very well and it was a joy to consume them! Not knowing if this was an outlier we returned a couple of weeks later and purchased more. Just as good! This time around I hit up the hot/fresh food service area and selected a tripe laden soup and their equivalent to chicharrones, which appeared more like pieces of fried pork belly. Both were delicious! I did add some red pepper to the soup (it was semi-bland to me) which elevated it quite a bit. I returned again today, for MORE of their avocados! I also opted to get some more of those pork belly looking chicharrones! I also ordered a small container of marinated octopus pieces (it was very fresh and delicious). Unless I find a better Hispanic Market (I had actually been searching for a Mexican Market, but they seem to carry all types of Hispanic and Caribbean food items) this place gets the 5 star approval rating! read more

The lunch here is incredible. All the stables of good Cuban and Puerto Rico food and a great grocery store.

The food is delicious. I go to get my sofrito ingredients since I live further away I don't frequent often.

The food is great fast and fresh. People are kind and warm, trust me as a white boy going in there.

The food is all ways good and is very reasonably priced so your wondering why I only gave them one star. I drive over 25 miles to get food from this place every so often. Today I get the rotisserie chicken and politely ask the young lady to cut into pieces for me. She said no. I've seen them do it for other people before. First time in and this is a cool little place! Not a very big store and it has a lot of Caribbean items and it's pretty cheap for a lot of it in my opinion. I bought 1.18lbs of chicken cutlets for about $4 and some spices like adobo and Jamaican jerk for less than $2 each. They have fresh produce too! And an amazing style buffet that you can get to go. While I was in line, I of course stared at it and they had tripe and teriyaki chicken and veggies and a bunch of other things that were steaming hot! So glad I stopped. I cannot speak about the market itself, considering my experience with Santiago's have only been with the hot plates brought to me by a fellow employee, but I can say that the food was delicious. My plate of perfectly seasoned chicken, with black beans and rice was not only great tasting, but they overload the plates with deliciousness. It's underpriced for the amount of food you get, but it's a major win for us consumers. read more

What can I say, this is the best place I have ever been for ethnic food. This is a must go if you're in the area.

I was in dire want for some good Spanish-Carribean food, and this is the only place that is a tad bit close to what I wanted. (Not flavor wise) The food tastes like whoever cooked it, was mad. This food made me depressed, about living in this small town. This food was so much better, a while ago. The pernil is so dry, I thought I was eating chicharrones. The pollo is so dry, I choked on it like a Popeyes biscuit. The habichuelas is more paste than juicy with flavor. The arroz is ok; that's why I gave two stars. Will still travel to Kissimmee or Orlando for some good Puerto Rican food. read more

The food is seasoned real good , the food plate selections are plentiful and their prices are good . As for the supermarket area of their store, they have mostly all the great selections of Latino foods , seasonings , cheeses , meats and can products and beverages . read more

We visit on Sundays. Plates are always packed. Chicken or pork with black beans, you can not go wrong.

The hot plates at Santiagos are great! You get so much food for your money. Bilingual staff are speedy and helpful. Would def recommend to my friends. read more
