I've always been able to trust that she will do her utmost to help me. Also I've noticed in recent times that the office staff and staff who do preliminary check-in (take vitals, etc.) have shown a great improvement in friendliness and caring ways. Their pleasantness is noticed, appreciated, and impressive.

But I have NEVER been treated this badly in the 12 years of being a patient. Every doctor I saw wouldn't look me in the eye. They suggested P.T. when I was living with high pain everyday and didnt seem to believe me or listen to me. It was like talking to a brick wall. Every time I tried to reschedule an appointment I could never get ahold of the office staff. Calling multiple times a day, days or even a week before an appointment. They gave me meds that have long term terrible side affects that I wasnt aware of. Went to a pain clinic in Omaha and it was night and day, everything that the Pain institute was prescribing medication wise my new doctors hated cause it can cause kidney and liver issues over long term! I already have kidney concerns. They gave me injections that made things worse and there was zero empathy. The care there was beyond deplorable. The hour drive to Omaha is worth every second because now I actually am more pain free! I'm starting to live my life again, no thanks to the pain institute.

They look stressed and are constantly apologizing to patients. The doctors are great, I've seen Johnson and cook and they are A plus plus. The nurses and MAs are okay. The MA"s need to learn a bit more pharmacology, one of them told me Cymbalta was like ibuprofen? No it's not. I was already taking 2 types of SSRI's and for her to tell me that could have been dangerous. I could have gotten very sick. I always wait for my appointment to go in with any complaints/exasperations/changes because they are terrible about calling back/coming up with a solution, (that's how the one MA told me Cymbalta is form of ibuprofen...) and it's very annoying if you have new pain or a medical question. Expect to wait for your appointment, but that is typical with any Drs these days. They are always busy, which to me means they are good. However, it's annoying going in for a 9 AM appointment and not getting in until 10, they tell you to come early for a reason people. I have noticed staff turn over is high. Which isn't a good sign (to me personally) and some of the staff seem to be kind of jerky, cut you off, don't listen, don't let you explain, rude to my spouse. Most of the newbies are very nice, like the guy up there who I think he's a MA. They have a excellent relationship with Horizon Spine, who are very very good at their jobs. One other thing is that nobody is ever on call. I've been to the ER 3x in the past few years, and nobody can get ahold of a on call??? It's strange.

When I wrote that I was high as a kite on 30mg Roxicodone (4x a day) and Fentanyl patches. No..:I'm not a cancer patient. I'm a chronic pain patient who went to this clinic after having moved back to Omaha to care for my elderly father after my mother passed away. I actually went to my appointment 3hrs after mom's funeral. When I went in I simply wanted to find a local provider who could continue the care I had been receiving back home. My previous treatments included cortisone shots and 5mg of 5/325 Percocet 2x a day. I had been on that protocol for over 8 years when I visited Midwest Pain Clinics. The doctor (Richard Hubbel M.D.) said "you're gonna be feeling better than you ever have in your life after you leave here" after telling Me there's no way my previous "weak" medication could still be working for me....even though it was perfectly. Well fast forward five years and I am now on methadone at a methadone clinic that I have to visit almost every day. The physical damage the meds this doc gave me did is unreal. I have never been an addict to anything but in a short few months Midwest Pain Clinics turned me into a regular junkie. When confronted about this they took the most bizarre routes possible. Dr Hubbel quickly existed the practice (moving back East to do anesthesiology). It was interesting to learn that Dr. Hubbel had his own incredibly severe opioid problem as well. When he came to Omaha he had his license revoked in another jurisdiction and was on probation. Why? Well after ODing himself in the hospital after surgery on Dilaudid, he did the same at his own home. Responding paramedics found nearly 180 empty ampules of dilaudid scattered around his bedroom. It is sickening to know that Midwest Pain hired an IV opioid addict to prescribe opioid medications. My life is forever altered. I want nothing more than to be done with opioids but without my methadone treatment I am violently And life threateningly Ill. I was steered to methadone because it was the only way I could achieve some normalcy in my life. Please do your homework and don't let these people railroad you into hardcore meds supplied by their "conveniently" located on site pharmacy. The only good thing I can say is good riddance to Dr Hubbel. Thank the lord that he left that clinic and won't hurt any more of their patients.

The staff are very nice and let her speak for herself without any type of reserve or anything like that, so that was great. The check in process was a bit arduous and I felt like I had to repeat my answers, basically and triplicate so that was a bit annoying but the staff was very friendly and assured me that it would allow The doctors examination to go more smoothly. Once we were all checked in, there was almost no way, and after a quick examination by one of the nurses, we then were taking off to the in-house x-ray. The room we were seen and was brand new with very impressive equipment as her father I was allowed to attend the x-ray, and they made sure that we were both safe and process us very quickly. Once we got back to the room, we saw the doctor, and what was great that he was able to explain things and show things to my daughter and language that she was unable to understand. What I really appreciated was that he then also explain things in a more advanced and higher level for me to understand what was going on the best course for treatment and recommendations for how to stabilize her foot and get her back to normal faster. Overall was very impressed with this visit. Beautiful office nice staff and wonderful doctors. I would highly recommend this for anybody who needs urgent care for orthopedic problems.

No further diagnostic testing done except X-rays. Dr. finally recommended he numb the major nerves in both knees, recommended for patients who were "unhappy with their replacements." Wishing one final second opinion outside Lincoln went to Dr. Kevin Garvin at UNMC who ordered additional xrays and a nuclear bone scan. The scan revealed aseptic loosening in both replacements, with the last knee replaced already showing signs of rotating. I have undergone two total knee revisions since his finding, replacing the discs with ones with spikes attached that descend into the tibia. The revisions take longer to heal and are more painful. Please seek a second opinion if you aren't progressing but failing and someone is recommending you deaden the nerves running through your knees.
