I was recommended to Dr Tomes by Grand Island Pain Relief Center. Dr Tomes was very cold in his care. Never even did an examination! He recommended another MRI. The MRI showed the bulge disc was getting worse and was causing issues with the disc above and below. Dr Tomes nurse Tina called me and stated there was nothing wrong and to just continue with pain management!!! I received terrible care, dismissive behaviors and no examination. I will be getting a second opinion! I do not recommend Daniel Tomes MD at The Nebraska Neurosurgeon Group in Lincoln Nebraska to anyone that needs help.

Once he diagnosed my carpal tunnel he suggested that he do my surgery in his Lincoln office. Both hands at the same time which I have been told never to do. All of his other surgeries happen in their Grand Island or Omaha locations in a sanitized surgery room. Not in their Lincoln office where they diagnos. Creepy. Flash forward one year later. I got a bill sent to me for $2,500. Yes, $2,500. When I called to have them send it to my insurance I was told that it was too late and if I didn't pay they would send me to collections. I ended up going to bat for myself and convinced my insurance of over ride the timely filing issue. This doctor's office then billed my insurance less than half of the amount they charged me. They actually charged me $15 to watch a home movie of him doing someones surgery that must have been filmed in the 80's. My insurance paid $700 and that was the end of it. Long story short: The doctor is creepy, I felt like the nursing staff kept trying to catch me in a lie (which there was not one) and the billing staff totally incompetent. If I could give them zero stars I would. NEVER GO HERE!!!

Can't get one and being lied to as to the reasons why…read more I have been told the doctor I want "is not allowed " to work on patients over 42 years old (I'm 62) when my co-worker had the same condition and this Doctor operated on him 3 months ago when he was 48. When confronted they changed it to 55 and said the doctors set this age. When confronted again I informed them you previously said he "was not allowed." My insurance company says he is allowed to operate on people 0-125 years old. I've researched 3 different doctors that I'm willing to go with and still don't have an appointment.
