You can park along the street, as there are no signs prohibiting it, but the vehicles do block the majority of the right lane. We were greeted upon entry and checked on during our perusing, but before entering we were also greeted by a Calico cat on the ramp leading to the entry door. They demanded a tax in the form of pets, which of course my wife had to oblige. The place is an older two-story home, which was obvious by the creeks of the floorboards. They have a lot of items to look at, which we love in a store; however, it would seem they are more geared to children with all the holiday items from Easter, to Halloween and Christmas. In the beginning, we were not impressed because the holiday items seemed to overwhelm the senses and draw attention from the actual antiques we were there to find, but the place eventually grew on us. Unfortunately, we did not find that had to have item and even though we enjoyed the time, we will not be adding this place to our favorites list to return yearly.

Thus, I had no choice but to visit the shop and investigate the source of my earthly entanglement. What I discovered was a charming collection of furniture and curiosities at wonderfully reasonable prices. The selection was pretty decent, with plenty of pieces to browse through, and the staff were absolutely fantastic--friendly, helpful, and far less frightened of me than most living people tend to be. I will say, however, that the interior was hotter than the deepest chamber of the underworld. Thankfully, they had fans running and water available, which helped keep both the living and the dead from melting into the floorboards. Naturally, I ended up purchasing a piece of furniture of my own. Unfortunately, it came with a rather unpleasant surprise: another ghost was haunting it. I was forced to consult a priest, prepare the proper incense, and conduct a full spiritual removal ceremony. After several hours of chanting, negotiating, and threatening to call upon forces far older than mankind, we finally discovered that the malevolent spirit wanted only $3.75. A bargain, really. All things considered, the Ol' Packing House is well worth visiting. The prices are excellent, the staff are wonderful, and there is a good variety of furniture waiting to be discovered. Just bring a bottle of water, prepare for the heat, and be sure to inspect any antique furniture carefully. You never know what--or who--may be included in the purchase price.

Lots of various booths and great stuff to choose from. Brought back a lot of memories from my childhood. Be prepared because it is not air conditioned so highly recommend bringing a fan. The lady working there was very nice. And I did find a few things. Be sure to visit the barbecue and peanut guy out front when you leave. Best peanuts I think I've ever had.

We wanted to check out some antique or vintage shops/malls in Mount Dora area a little after the…read moreholidays. This was one of the locations that came up - the antique center does have stalls open during the week aside from the outdoor market they have outside the facility on Sundays. Similar to some of the other antique malls or multi-stall stores I've been to, there are different stalls that are rented out by different vendors that sell different items. Depending on when you visit, some may not be open for business and will be roped off or have signs saying when they will be open next. We did go when some folks were still off for the holidays, which resulted in a handful of closed stalls, but a good number of the locations were open to wander and shop. Some of the stalls sell vintage and retro items and others like the large toy/doll stall on one of the ends sell deadstock collectible items. I think there's something there for everyone - I saw booths for books, dolls, collectibles, old wartime items, jewelry, and home decor. Pricing does vary for each of the booths and items. Some may run some deals and they will have signs to call out what is on sale in their booth. I did not purchase anything, but I believe if the owner of the booth is not present, you can go to one of the desks throughout the center and ask the folks working there to assist with purchases or for unlocking locked cabinets to see something. There was a decent amount of parking when I went, but if you do go during the outside market on Sundays, I suspect you'd want to go early to get a spot.

Although I don't purchase if they don't haggle a bit. I understand they are trying to make money but the haggling is part of the experience. Also, just take their 10% off make them call the sellers and see I purchased two lamps that they wanted $495 for two I got for 200 when they said that they would never accept anything less than the 10% / 20% discount. Again I do enjoy the walkabout that antique smell is definitely there and most of the people are very friendly and interesting to talk to.

According to Vintage 46 they have " a little bit of everything and something for everyone." Vintage 46 only opened in April of 2018 but by the amount of stuff they have you would think they have been here forever. Vintage 46 is set up in perfectly organized theme rooms. Themes include collectibles, European, shabby chic, a room like your grandmothers, steam punk, and a man cave. Among the different rooms they sell furniture, home goods, clothing, and accessories. I got a kick out of seeing the Star Wars glasses I used to collect as a kid from Burger King. I also loved the darling Grandma's room. I asked if prices were firm and it depends on the item. I was pressed for time but this is a store you can linger in for hours.
