The on-site restaurant is locally owned and operated - Funkadelic Food Shack. Delicious food with a fun, laid-back vibe that really fit the resort atmosphere. The staff throughout the entire resort were friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. You can tell they care about the guest experience and the overall upkeep of the park. Another awesome perk was the complimentary bikes available for guests!! This is such a win for cruising around the area and enjoying the scenery without needing to get in the car. Between the location, amenities, great food, and outstanding staff, this place is an easy recommendation and a definite win-win for anyone looking for a coastal getaway or even a staycation!

One member of our group confirmed on June 30 that all of our reservations were paid in full. When we arrived on July 2, we were told by the general manager, April, that we had not "locked in" our reservations and that one of our adjoining sites had been given to another guest. We disputed this because our reservations had already been paid. Another employee, Ingrid, reviewed our reservation and stated that the site showed as paid. At that point, April ended the discussion and informed us that the adjoining sites were no longer available. As we attempted to explain our documentation, April said we were being disrespectful and called the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office. When the deputy arrived, we explained that we were willing to move our RVs but needed the gate code to maneuver them out of the park. The deputy confirmed that we had not been given the information needed to move and instructed the manager to provide it. Because we had receipts showing our reservations had been paid, we also requested an immediate refund before leaving. The deputy suggested that refunding our payment would be the quickest way to resolve the situation, and the refund was processed. The entire experience was stressful and disappointing, especially after planning our family holiday around adjoining campsites. We expected better communication and customer service, particularly after our reservations had been confirmed and paid. Seeing the Good Sam affiliation displayed at the park made the experience even more disappointing because it did not reflect the level of professionalism we expected.

    1. When I arrived, I was told I did not have a reservation, then was told they accept nothing 8pm,…read moreof which I reserved online at about 5pm. 2. The lady on the intercom (Video I assume) at the entrance gate said they don't have a reservation even after I gave them the reservation number and showed them the confirmation on my email. 3. After15 minutes, of waiting, they said they cant do anything for me. Then after going back and forth, they tell me someone will meet me at the gate. 4. A guy arrives at the gate with his sidearm saying and I quote " Are you kidding me, bad time of the night bud, bad time of the night". 5. He proceeds to say, I will let you in, but, and I quote "Don't ever come back here again". I said to the guy, sir I have a reservation (showing him my email confirmation" he goes "I don't care, I will get you in for one night, and you leave in the morning" normally minimum of 2 night stay, and I paid $50 cash to let me in. 6. I can only surmise they saw me on the intercom camera, and didn't like the color of my skin, ruining my first trip with my family with my RV. Especially picking this site as being highly rated, of course of certain type and ethnicity. 7. There was no screaming on my part, I was very polite, as because of the guy approaching the car with his sidearm, left my kids very frightened. We did stay there the one night because of the time and left early in the morning per their request. 8. Not a very nice attempt at a RV Park, it just spoiled the experience, it was uncalled for and totally unsolicited, as such I will never go back per their request and mine..... The staff here is amazing, they are very friendly and they communicate everything via text if you opted in - for example I received text messages to make us aware of the food truck schedules, maintenance activities on the laundry and club house activities so do yourself a favor and opt in. The premium pull-through sites are very spacious, level and comes with a very large patio constructed with pavers and concrete borders although the parking site is a well executed compacted asphalt millings composite. I really like the amount of green space between the sites allowing some privacy and there is plenty of room to maneuver the wide paved roads no matter the size of your rig - this resort is beautiful and well maintained, all the utilities (sewer, water and electrical) are easily accessible with plenty of water pressure, I didn't use their wi-fi so I can't speak of its performance but a clear view of the sky allowed my on-board internet network to maintain a very strong signal during our entire stay. This is a RV Resort I plan to visit again and again since we love to visit St. Augustine, this location is only minutes from the city center so you can schedule a pickup by the trolly service for a day of adventure without having to deal with downtown parking fees. There's lots to love here with some affordable stay options...

I stopped in at the front office as anyone who is just checking out a campground should do - We were greeted by Karen and she was just wonderful as I explained the purpose of our visit - she described a lot of the amenities and also the online website and suggested calling her directly when we were ready to book our site. After requesting a drive-through she graciously opened the gate to allow us to explore the campground on our on and it goes without saying we were respectful of the posted speed limits and the campers and their campsites. This is a very spacious campground that can accommodate all sizes of RVs, I loved that there are some rustic sites as well as large drive-through paved sites - there are some very nice facilities including a large club house and pool. The entrance off of Route 207 is very accessible and there is plenty of room to get into your site no matter which one you choose or what size rig you have. This is definitely a campground I'll stay at during a future visit to the St. Augustine area, there are a lot of good things going on here, a very friendly and accommodating staff, a very clean and well maintained campground and it's in close proximity to downtown...

And loads of different types of camping/cabin rentals available. And a pool! This day I went just to walk the trails and it's amazing how you can feel so far in the woods while still being basically in a neighborhood. Such a fun time last night at Camp Chowenwaw!…read more We stayed in one of the treehouses, number 5 to be specific. There was so much wildlife to be heard throughout the night including owls, woodpeckers, and what we think were crickets or maybe lubbers. The bathrooms and shower areas were very clean for a park/camping area. There are different trails to explore along the path to the treehouses, which we didn't have a chance to do. We suggest bringing a sheet or blanket to cover your mattresses. Each treehouse has 2 twin sized bunk beds (total of 4 mattresses). They are VERY uncomfortable, so if you need extra support, you should probably bring a mattress topper/padding. The grills were pretty clean, just need some dusting off before cooking, though, nothing out of the ordinary. Upkeep for everything was great!
