Seeing various wildlife was a daily event: gators, turtles, kingfisher, herons and a wood stork. The campground is small and remote. The sights are narrow and short. It has mix of FHU and E&W only. The park's electric and sewer does need some work, our sewer connection malfunctioned, but they did repair itright away. Also had inconsistent power, our GFCI kept tripping. (Never happened before or after). So the ground may have been a problem. The closest full service grocery store is a Winn-Dixie in Crescent City, Seville does have a Dollar General. Local Restaurants: Pierson Family Diner- good home cooking. Idle Awhile- nice bar, good food, indoor & outdoor seating on the lake and live music.

There was a sweet boy standing near the part where the actual spring bubbles up. He was 14 and he was literally welcoming everyone who came near him. He's very passionate about Salt Springs and said he's been going there since he was 8. What I loved most about this spring is that for the most part, it is not deep. You can walk around fine in it. Beware of some slippery rocks though. I still brought my noodle because some of the springs nearby are real deep and I'm not a very good swimmer. The parking area has several gorgeous huge trees with low branches making it a beautiful spot for pictures. They have several picnic tables and camping sites. We paid $13 for 2 adults. There are good and bad things about this spring, but I really would give it a 3.5 if I was able. Good: --- The staff is friendly and attentive. --- Picnic tables are plentiful, clean, and tucked under shade trees. --- Charcoal grills available --- Walkways are cement or wooden, making it easy on people with mobility issues. --- Restrooms on site (I thought they only had port-o-potties!) --- Trashcans are plentiful & not overflowing. --- Love being able to swim to the cave and crevices to see the spring boils --- Great for snorkeling, so many fish (not kinds of fish, but number of fish) Not so good: --- Price. $14.50 per person is absolutely ridiculous. --- Needs changing rooms. It's gross to change in a tiny bathroom stall. --- The water got pretty cloudy, and lots of debris near the walls. --- When I got out of the water I felt like the water had a smell and it was on me. Other springs I feel refreshed and clean. --- The steps are super slippery --- They make a big deal on signage not to bring oversized floats, yet said nothing the SUP that came in like the Titanic among fishing boats. Plenty of staff walking around to catch that. --- Lots of limestone rocks, but they are covered with mossy growth. In many places it is too shallow to swim over, but too slippery to walk to the deeper part. (I know it is a natural feature that can't be changed, but for the price...you need to know) All in all, we did have a fun day. This was our first day of vacation, so if all of the springs are cloudy for some natural reason, I'll come back and edit.

I can tell you that the owners of the property really do care about this place. I've seen the improvements that have been put in over the decades while maintaining the charm and easygoing lifestyle. The facilities are well kept and the people that work here really do care about the property. It's safe, clean and well kept. This includes both sides of the park. 'Bout the rowdiest this place seems get is maybe a crowd singing and dancing in the pavilion down by the campgrounds on a Friday night. Aside from that (which is no biggie,) the place has a nice, slow easy going feel. A word to the wise however, the place does fill during the winter months with your snowbirds, even then however it doesn't lose its charm.

This is a small, primitive campground run by Florida State Forests. There are a total of four…read moresites, each with a picnic table and fire ring. There is a shared port-a-potty that is regularly maintained and non-potable water. No electricity hook-ups. The campground is intended for tents or small camper vans due to the narrow, unpaved three-mile drive to reach the campground. There are also some low-hanging plants. There are sections where it would be difficult to pass an oncoming car. Reservations are required, and cost $9-something, increasing to $17-something with the reservation fee and local taxes. All four sites were occupied when we visited mid-week in mid-March, 2025. Another car also came along hoping to find an unoccupied site, to no avail. We enjoyed walking along the forest roads, and the very dark and quiet site -- except for our neighbor who blasted Irish music until 9 pm. (I guess he was extending his and our St. Patrick's Day)! Of note, there is no beach access, and there are signs to be aware of potential mosquitoes (yes, but not many in mid-march), alligators, and rattlesnakes. We didn't see either of the latter two. Also, we were given a gate code to access the area.
