We moved up from Miami-Dade County 8 years ago and got many recommendations from various friends, but I wasn't happy with any of the vets. They were good vets but not caring. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Dr. Parker's friendly staff and brought to the examining room. As soon as the Dr. came in and greeted us, then greeted Trixie, I knew we were in the right place. They were completely professional, but also warm and friendly to both of us. Dr. Parker answered all of our questions, and we were able to take as much time as we needed without feeling rushed. Trixie had her teeth cleaned and a very large wart removed from the center of her forehead the following week and even though she had the Elizabethan collar on, she managed for a few days and was completely fine. Dr. Parker called to see how Trixie was at least 3 times. We returned a few weeks later to have the stitches out. I would recommend Dr. Parker if you are seeking to find a professional vet who is knowledgeable and caring and so is her staff. Rona Sandler

I found my vet! From…read morethe moment we walked into Animal Hospital of University Drive, the office staff was warm and welcoming. The tech, Jamie, immediately put both me and my pup, Paddy, at ease. Paddy was nervous and hiding under a chair, but Jamie gently reassured him, promised she'd be back in a minute--and sure enough, she was right there. Before we knew it, his blood test, rabies vaccine, and other needed shots were done quickly and smoothly. Then Dr. Carl Ansara walked in--with a smile, jeans, and a T-shirt--completely unpretentious and instantly calming. He asked thoughtful questions, gently examined Paddy, complimented his haircut, and with a wink and a nod even "sanctioned" our next stop for Paddy--a snug nap after a McDonald's treat! It was also clear how much they truly love animals; Dr. Ansara and Jamie even shared stories about their own seven dogs. I couldn't have been more pleased. At the end of the visit, Dr. Ansara stepped out and returned with his personal cell number, saying if I ever needed him, not to hesitate to call. That level of care meant so much. The pricing was reasonable and fair, and the level of kindness and professionalism was outstanding. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Carl Ansara and the entire staff at Animal Hospital of University Drive in Sunrise. So grateful--we've definitely found our vet!

I'm extremely disappointed with the care my cat Mia received at this hospital. Back in September,…read moreMia was clearly showing signs of kidney disease. I brought her in, and the staff agreed she was showing symptoms serious enough to require hospitalization. She was admitted for 7 days on IV fluids, costing me over $1,500. After those treatments, I was told that she was "fine," no longer showing signs of kidney disease, and that she didn't even need to be placed on a kidney-support diet or continue special monitoring. Trusting their professional opinion, I followed their guidance. Over the following months, Mia continued showing symptoms that concerned me, which eventually led me to bring her back in. When I reviewed the new test results with Dr. Chamberlain, I explained my concerns about previously being told Mia was fine. Dr. Chamberlain ended up giving me a discount on Mia's next hospitalization because of what happened, which made me feel that even the clinic recognized mistakes had been made in how her condition was handled. Even with the discount, I still paid over $800 for another 3-day hospitalization. It has been heartbreaking and incredibly frustrating to go through this after previously being reassured everything was resolved. On top of that, the financial practices at this clinic added even more stress during an already difficult situation. Medications were heavily marked up, there were additional credit card fees, and I was encouraged to pay for a $350 membership/plan just to receive "discounts" for treatment related to a chronic illness. Even then, the discounts were not automatically applied correctly. On more than one occasion, I had to catch billing mistakes myself and request refunds after being incorrectly charged. Not to mention added fees if you put prescriptions thru chewy. Communication throughout this process was also inconsistent. While some of the front desk staff were kind and helpful, I was given incorrect information on multiple occasions, which only added more confusion and stress during Mia's treatment. Caring for a sick pet is emotionally and financially exhausting. Pet owners deserve transparency, accurate medical guidance, consistent communication, and proactive care. I strongly encourage anyone dealing with a chronic condition in their pet to seek second option and carefully review all lab work and recommendations for themselves.

We walked and was greeted by the receptionist and asked to fill paperwork out. An amazing nurse (I wish I could remember but being an emergency I had other things rolling through my mind) came out and took us to a room to see the doctor. The doctor was so professional and understanding that this wasn't just a dog it was my baby. After explaining to us the possibilities and estimate, I said do whatever you can to help my girl. After saying our see you later ( not good bye as I refused to believe it would be just that) he led her into the back. Now the waiting period. After several hours we got the call from the doctor explaining all the treatments he administered we were told we could pick her up. We arrived and in no time she was brought out. The experience was stressful and the staff were absolutely the best. There were issues we weren't even aware of that they treated. This animal hospital is the best and my fur baby is on the med. A HUGE thank you to the staff.
