I've been bringing my cat here for a couple years now and overall, Heroes Veterinary Hospital has been great. The staff is kind, the vets are knowledgeable, and they genuinely take good care of her, which I really appreciate. That said, I did run into a frustrating issue around prescriptions. Last year I asked if I could get her meds through Chewy and was told no, so I bought a 2-month supply directly for about $36. I later found the exact same thing on Chewy for $3. This year I was told they now approve Chewy orders, but only if I pay a $25 yearly online prescription fee or the request gets declined. I get that policies change, but charging $25 just to approve an online order feels excessive, especially when the medication itself costs a fraction of that. read more

Good prices, staff is decent, but I was quite shocked when I came in with my deceased dog wrapped in a blanket and not one of the 3-4 women behind the front desk showed any compassion. Not one "I'm sorry". I felt like I was dropping off my dirty laundry. When my other dog passed, I went to another Vet, and they were so warm and sympathetic and brought me into a grieving room. Great veterinary services but they recently started a money grab action by charging $25 to have prescription approved for ordering online. $25! However $10 if you get it printed. So I come to the office for the less expensive printed version only to be told it's $20 because the scripts are for 2 medications (heart worm and flea and tick). I have loved Heroes, but this has soured my view of them. If your doctor prescribes a medication, they do not charge you for getting the actual prescription note. Today wasn't our first visit to this amazing clinic. Dr. Goldblatt and staff took care of our Dutchess early last year when she was diagnosed with kidney disease. We was given amazing care and we didn't feel as if she was just another number. This morning we had to visit for an unpleasant and unexpected visit and arrived at exactly 7am. A vet tech came out with an estimate on what needed to be done and explained what each one meant. She also asked if it was something we could do. It wasn't as expensive as I originally thought it would be either. Dr. Machek was so friendly and pleasant. She was able to answer all my questions and not seem annoyed at all. After a nightmare experience at Bayview Animal Clinic I was hesitant and scared to find a new vet, but after reading all the great reviews and Sherry W's personal recommendation I am glad I gave Heroes a chance. Heroes is located in a modest and older building on Dixie Hwy just S of Atlantic. The clinic is not fancy, its plain and simple, everything is kept very clean and the staff is very friendly. I have been to Heroes a few times now for regular check ups and minor issues and Dr. Goldblatt is absolutely delightful, she is sweet, friendly, very knowledgeable and caring. My dog is terrified of vet visits however Dr. Goldblatt knows just how to keep him calm and at ease. She is very thorough on her examination and takes the time to listen to every concern, she is wonderful. Not only is Dr. Goldblatt the best vet we have been too, the staff is very friendly and great with my dog, also the prices are also lower than most other vets in the area and wait time has always been reasonable for our appointments. I am very happy with the treatment my dog has received at Heroes. Since my dog has had several serious health issues this past year and he is 14.5 I still only go to Lauderdale Veterinary Specialists for anything serious, but for regular check ups and minor stuff Heroes is a wonderful vet practice. read more

I recently took my dog in for an exam and a dental cleaning. The exam fee is $38, which is much cheaper than most vets. The place is not fancy. The staff is super friendly. The dental cleaning was $199 and they don't make you do blood work ($100) if you don't want to before cleaning. I called for pricing around the area and prices ranged from $250-$500 plus blood work. You drop your dog off between 8-9am on a Tuesday and you can pickup between 4-5pm. I was prescribed antibiotics to administer my dog after the cleaning for an additional $10. There is plenty of parking in the attached parking lot. read more

I was in and out pretty quickly, although I did not have an appointment. The only thing I wish would have been different was that the vet never came out to talk to me. The vet tech was the middleman for all of my questions and I felt bad sending her back and forth to ask the vet something and then to come back and tell me. To me, it was the equivalent of going to a hospital and never seeing the doctor and having the nurse be the messenger. Our friends Micah and Laura have raved about the exceptional care they receive at Heroes and we definitely had it on our radar as a new vet should we need to go. Unfortunately last night our senior dog had a rough night, she's been showing signs of old age for a while, but selfishly I kept saying she's not ready yet, she's just getting old. Well this morning my husband went to our old vet and they weren't open despite it being time for them to open so I told him to go to Heroes. Heroes told him the doctor would be at nine and they didn't have any appointments left so he'd be treated as a walk in. Well he sent me a text a couple minutes after 9 saying he was in the exam room. I'm thankful that they were able to see him so quickly and he said that they were very good. Having to say goodbye to a twelve year old dog really sucks but I'm thankful that Heroes was very accommodating and didn't prolong the inevitable. read more

We changed over to Heroes following our last vet leaving his practice in 2018. While last year we only needed to go in for checkups, this year my dog has been suffering from a constant, resistant ear infection that has been a real struggle to treat. Luckily, everyone at Heroes (and COR, who were referred to for surgery) have been great the entire time. We see Dr. Goldblatt and Dr. Cometto who are always great to deal with, and both treat my dog wonderfully. I think it's always a great sign when my pup has had no issue at all jumping in the car to pay another visit to the vets! From what I've seen, pricing has been very reasonable for the services offered, and I always feel well taken care of by the front office staff, techs, and vets. It makes my life much easier knowing I have a trustworthy place I can turn to in any event. read more

Dr. Vijaun turns into someone else the moment you're not in the room. She's very agreeable during exams, but afterwards she'll reject the online pharmacy order she agreed on during the exam and be very difficult to reach afterwards. I've had her nurse tell me over the phone that they don't want to ask her questions because she's in too bad of a mood that day. I paid for an estimate for surgery and afterwards she declined to do the surgery over the phone. I did not get a refund for that. If you want to get anything done with her, make absolutely sure she doesn't leave your sight until it's done. They also charge to write scripts that you use to get medication elsewhere. read more

They are only after money! I had been taking my dog there for 7 years. I needed paperwork for her to fly with me as she had recently been declared my Emotional Support Animal by my Psychiatrist after a horrendous year of severe depression. The doctor refused to sign her flight paperwork that only required a rabies validation (domestic flight). She said the only way she would sign my paperwork was if I did DHPP, Bordetella, fecal exam and heartworm test. I agreed to all, except the Bordetella as my dog had never received that vaccine in her 14 years of life and has never contracted kennel cough, nor is she ever boarded with other dogs, she is also geriatric with severe cardiac disease. I expressed feeling pushed into a corner to the tech assistant and asked why she needed the fecal test and Bordetella for a domestic flight. She went back to the doctor and expressed my concerns. They brought my dog back to me and told me to go elsewhere, that "they do not appreciate that kind of talk"; me asking why she needed those things and expressing how I felt pushed into a corner, was not inappropriate and within my rights. It is my right to know why certain tests or vaccines are needed for my pet, flight paperwork or not. So they vindictively, turned us away after being a loyal customer/patient for 7 years and her doctor refused to talk to me in person. I was calm throughout the process and never irate, I only wanted to be heard and respected as concerned pet owner. I cried when I had to explain why I had an ESA after they insinuated that I did not need one, because "she would have been being checked the past 13 years" one of the technicians said if she was an ESA. I was mortified and cannot believe how cold the doctor was to not even talk with me. On top of all that, she wanted me to pay the exam visit fee and the heart worm test fee. I refused the visit fee as she was not examined and they reluctantly agreed, I of course paid the blood test fee. I was embarrassed in front of other customers and upset that the doctor refused to explain her reasoning to me. I was then forced to take another day off from work to bring her to a new vet. My dog has serious cardiac disease and having to go to a new vet was stressful for both of us. However, this new vet was amazing and understanding, so it was all a blessing in disguise. She actually provided me with a waiver for vaccinations because of my dog's critical cardiac disease, so my baby will never have to get another vaccine again, especially ones she does not need. I was not coerced to do any of the vaccines requested by Dr. Vaujin in exchange for my flight paperwork. Dr. Vaujin was aware of my dog's condition and provided the first diagnosis years ago, but clearly only cares about money and not the actual health of her patients, nor does she have respect for long term customers. Do not go to her if you love your dog! Always be an advocate for yourself and your dog and know your rights! Do your research and don't feel forced to do every vaccine they offer, especially if they try and make you feel like a bad owner. I know I did right by my dog and I'm happy Dr. V showed her true colors, because now my dog has a caring new doctor. read more

The only reason I do not mention Dr. Cometto is that I have not met her; that said, if she is working with this fabulous team she is wonderful guaranteed! Once again, like everything else, it started out OK. I liked Hero's. That quickly changed when I discovered my cats eye was horribly swollen when I fed her dinner. And got the brush off when I called to see if I she could be looked at. She had already been there twice in the last two weeks. But, let me back up and give you the background. One of our senior cats needed to be seen for her yearly exam two weeks earlier. It turned out she had an ear infection which we later discovered was treated with medication not approved for Cats. When I went to pay the bill, I was shocked to see a charge for bloodwork on the detailed bill, that I had to ask to be given to review before I handed my credit card over. When I started to review the charges, I had a bloodwork panel, no one mentioned to me and had I not asked for detailed billing I would have not known. I felt like I was getting the wool pulled over my eyes but that's another review!!! My concern and frustration with Hero's is about how poorly my cat and partner were treated last Friday when they arrived. Again, she was already being treated there for an ear infection. I was perplexed and really had NO choice when we saw the eye swollen at 5:00pm to bring her in for treatment of the swollen eye/eye infection. After all, they were my vet and already treating my cat. I even called ahead to let them know there was a issue. I met resistance from the moment they answered the phone. I always believed the front desk staff should be considered the poster people for Customer Service. In my opinion and going off of how we were treated, they could definitely use some customer service coaching. Especially, to an upset pet owner trying to make sure his animal was not in danger or pain. When I called, it was very obvious they did not want to see me or my Cat because they were getting ready to close and go home shortly after they closed at 6:00pm. Again, it was right after 5:00pm at the time, boo hoo!!! The front desk tried to send me to an after hours emergency hospital and tried everything to deter me from showing up. I mean come on. Are you my vet, and my animal is important to you? Or am I'm just a padded bill because it's not close to closing time. They reluctantly looked at our cat. Did a test to see if there was any scratch on the eye, examined her and brought her back out front with the medicine and handed her back. They didn't even take the time to administer the first dose. They handed the medicine and our cat to my partner and said she would be fine and to administer the gel twice a day to her eye. Again, not great customer service. We ended up taking our cat to another vet on Saturday morning. We also discovered on Saturday morning the Eye Gel they sent us home with was expired. The label on the box indicated it expired 2017. (Kept it for Evidence of incompetency) The whole experience was so disheartening because we trusted Hero's. We felt like they cared for us and our pets. Clearly, we were wrong on several different levels. It's like an act of Congress to get a call back from anyone there. The only asset they have is Ashley who is very kind. Ashley should RUN from that place as if her hair is on fire!!! The Vets are horrible and the services are fraudulently performed. Please go else where for your Animals needs. read more

So this is a crazy story but I wanted to make sure everyone here got a big 5 star review for their help in a really random scenario. While on vacation this past Saturday, my friends and I came across what couldn't have been any older than a four-week old stray kitten who was severely underfed and was on her last legs before we took her in for the night. We called shelter after shelter and spent half a day trying to find a home for this poor kitten and these are the ONLY people within a two hour drive that would take her in, take a look at her, and if she was healthy they would help her out. About four hours later we got a text from the employee we spoke to and the kitten is safe and healthy with a brand new owner. The front desk is extremely inefficient and inconsiderate.. I was simply told to drop my dog off on the day of surgery. They called to confirm the appt several times and yet when I arrived they had no idea I was coming and they didn't even know what procedure he was getting done. I had to tell several different people several different times. Paperwork wasn't done. They make you fill out yet another form asking the same questions I already answered at previous appointments or that could have been answered over the phone ahead of time or even online???? Prior to the appointment. They didn't know what meds he was taking when they're the ones that prescribed all of them. They asked if I wanted to have bloodwork done, when it was already done and paid for prior to the day of surgery AND they had called to give the results. Due to not being able to give food or water prior I obviously couldn't give him his anxiety meds. I walk in expecting it to be just a drop off as implied and as I'm struggling to calm my anxious dog with both hands, they look dead at you and hand you a clipboard. Not to mention the rude attitude. I've been going to Dr V for 6 years. She's the nicest most compassionate, knowledgeable vet I've ever met. The staff is great. They always help in a pinch. The facility is beautiful and clean. Prices are more than fair! Thanks for being such an amazingly awesome vet. And not only the doctors but the whole office! Every time I bring my boy Ace there she gets right on the floor and runs him all over. So loving! Simply the best!! Update- so Ace was diagnosed with osteosarcoma ( one cancer) I made the decision to amputate the leg with Dr V. ( I'm also a registered nurse and very knowledgeable about this) Dr V did an amazing job! Ace had to stay over night on a pain medication drip. She had her staff go to check on him and let him out though the night. They even sent pics and updates though the night!!! Unfortunately my boy lost his battle about 5 months post amputation.
