Unless you're walking along the river, good luck finding it as there's no signage for it on the "back" of the building where Google Maps will take you to. The restaurant was clean and chill the entire time we were there. We appreciated the tapas menu, as it displayed variety without being too big. We went with the chips, salsa & guac; chicken salad with pita chips, and bang bang nachos with carnitas meat. We enjoyed the dining room, food, and drinks: all were solid. The dings were for how hard this place was to find, and that our waiter Brady was like a human icicle in personality and didn't check in with us after the food was delivered. Thai chicken pizza is one of the best entrées in the city! It's probably 12 or 14 inches in diameter and is so delicious that it's hard to think of anything that comes close. A group of four of us met there today, and we were all in a great mood... And I'm still not sure what happened with our server, but her obvious displeasure with us took our whole experience down a notch. There was a waiter who was charming and helpful, but "Olivia" must've been having a bad day. The four of us felt really bad, trying to figure out what we must've done to perturb her. I went during their Saturday brunch with their bottomless mimosas. The waiter did an awesome job at making sure our cup never reaches the bottom. I was able to drink maybe a total of three cups while dining. I had ordered their Ahi Tuna Bites and their Bang Bang Chicken. The Ahi Tuna Bites came with an option of the Pita chips or cucumber. I chose both so half of them were on Pita chips and the other half was on cucumber slices. I would say, I had enjoyed the Pita chips more as it gave a nice crunch and saltiness to go with the tuna flavor. However, the cucumber does give it a refreshing taste to it as well. My entre came with a salad so I had their Caesar salad. The dressing, I believe, is made in-house and it was very tasty. Their Bang Bang Chicken is on top of some noodles and I loved it! We have been really impressed with 4 Sisters and have been 3 times now I believe. The atmosphere is nice. Menu selection is HUGE, there is absolutely something for everybody. We have been impressed with the food, everything we've had has been good. The best food we've gotten has probably been the Thai pizza, 7 pepper mahi, and the bacon gouda dip. Drinks are good, with some fun options for cocktails. Service has always been good. My biggest complaint is the noise, if it's busy it is often too loud which counters the otherwise nice, relaxing atmosphere. read more

NYE Dinner 2024. 7pm reservation, we arrived 10 minutes early and our table was ready. I noticed they also had bar seating, window seating and inner restaurant seating. We enjoyed a few tapas small plates. To start we tried the Bacon wrapped Shrimp. The shrimp was large and with bacon, YUM! The lemon siracha aioli added a lemony kick. 6 per serving. The Empanadas are a must get!! Flakey soft pastry puff filled with meat and cheese & peppers topped with a buttermilk herb sauce. It had a hint of horseradish in there too. They were filling and delicious. 6 per serving. For Dinner we had Italian Sausage Tortellini and Italian Sausage Lasagna. Both came with a salad and breadstick. The Tortellini had an Alfredo/marinara sauce that was so decedent and creamy! I will order this again for the sauce! They didn't skimp on the Italian Sausage. Large chunks had to be cut down, just like how I make it at home. So good. We also had a large piece of Lasagna that filled with cheese meat filled and it was very tasty. We ate so much we took the pasta home. We came during the Rotary Lights holiday Lights, we sat at a window overlooking the park with all the lights. As locals, we regularly frequent this establishment, both with our kids and without. They have a kids menu, but the grilled cheese dippers are divine and our kids usually opt for these instead. The atmosphere usually always feels relaxed here even though it is often a busy place. If you want to come for their bottomless mimosa specials though, be prepared for a very loud and almost chaotic experience because it's so busy and many of the customers are the local college students. Not trying to discourage your attendance for this, more as a warning to prepare you for the energy. We rarely ever get an actual meal here, instead we opt for a variety of tapas shared amongst the table. We've never had anything we didn't like. Some of our favorite tapas that we always recommend to others include the spinach artichoke dip (excellent, but often needs extra chips to finish), the grilled cheese dippers made with bougie cheeses and served with vodka marinara dipping sauce, sweet and spicy bacon wrapped chicken (enjoyed by my husband and 12 year old), empanadas (sometimes needs extra buttermilk herb sauce, but they don't mind giving it upon request), and the mini bleu burgers on pretzel bun. Some others that we've tried, but aren't on our order every time we go: garlic teriyaki edamame, fat boy shrimp, stuffed pepadews, beet salad with steak, and gourmet Mac & cheese. The aforementioned items are also delicious, just a more distinctive flavor profile that you have to be in the mood for. The restaurant itself overlooks the Mississippi River with large glass walls and from Black Friday to New Year's Eve you not only get a view of the river and riverside park, but also the dazzling Rotary Lights. You can also reserve an igloo on their patio in the winter, but we've never opted for this. I'm perfectly content with being inside where I know for sure it's warm. This place is perfect for a date night, girls' day, or casual meal. The drinks are also delicious, we've yet to have one we didn't enjoy. Fan favorites amongst our group are the Pink Panther, French 75, and Strawberry Basil Martini. You can't go wrong here. Beyond the items I've listed, there is an extensive entrees menu with soups and salads as well. Dessert is also an option, but we've always been too full to partake. If you're on the fence, do yourself a favor and try this place. read more

Quite honestly, I could go on and on about 4 Sisters Wine Bar & Tapas. I was so impressed with this restaurant. My mom said that last time they were in lacrosse that day had a meal here and really liked it. Boy was that an understatement. They have a beautiful patio space overlooking the riverfront park and the river itself. Inside the restaurant is cozy, but not crammed, all of the staff was very friendly, and I was absolutely floored by the quantity and quality of food you get for the prices on the menu. To give you an idea of the prices, we ordered these two "starters" and after a 20% tip, it was still under $40. We had such a hard time deciding what to get. My mom remembered having the nachos and raved about them so we had to go with that and we opted for adding shrimp. Then, almost anytime I see ahi tuna on the menu I have to get it. The tuna was light and refreshing, but the star of the show were these nachos with fresh chips, layered toppings, so that it wasn't all just on top, the bang bang sauce on them was spicy, but not overpowering, and there was plenty of shrimp throughout. They are happy hour specials had good drink prices and their bourbon list was possibly the most impressive one I have seen in a restaurant date. If you're staying in the cross, passing through, or just need an excuse to explore a beautiful city, I'm sold. After eating there we drove down through the riverfront park and the city's tribute to their sister cities was BEAUTIFUL. I'm definitely going to make time to go through there again. read more

During our visit with family, my brother and sister in law took my husband and I to 4 sisters. The atmosphere is great. I love that it's right off the river front so you can enjoy the view. The staffs were very friendly and our waitress was knowledgeable of the menu which is quite big from tapas to entrees and a large variety of beverages. For a small city, the food would be considered great. However, it was ok for us. The fish tacos and empanadas were quite disappointing. The corn tortilla was not toasted and the empanadas weren't as crispy as it should be and the breading was soggy from being over stuffed. The best dish was the ahi tuna & cucumber bites. It was refreshing and totally hit the spot. The menu was quiet confusing since Tapas is Spanish, yet the menu has a lot of mixed dishes from Asia & American food. Overall, if you're up for drinks, I highly recommend 4 sisters as they offer a few variety of flights. First off, I have to say that the location, at least in the summer, is quite amazing. We were able to get a table on the patio overlooking the river and the Riverwalk, and it was truly exceptional. They called themselves a tapas and wine bar, but their cocktails are far superior to their wine choices, and virtually none of the food is actually Spanish tapas. That doesn't mean the food isn't good, just don't come in here prepared to order Manchego and Jamon. The consensus opinion at our table was that the spicy shrimp with avocado was the best thing we ordered, followed closely by the blue cheese and onion sliders. Unlike a few of the other reviewers, we found the service to be really quite excellent. Our server was very attentive, very helpful, and extremely pleasant. I ordered the "fish n' chips," expecting the classic deep-fried fish with French fries, but what I received was plain, no flavor grilled fish with potato chips. If you're going to call something "fish n' chips," it should be the traditional dish--it's like ordering lasagna and getting spaghetti. I also ordered a chicken Caesar salad, and I'm almost certain the chicken came out of a can. This place was way overpriced for all of this gross food. We were passing through and wanted something nice for dinner. We ended up with the fish tacos, pepper jelly cream cheese, and a half order of bleu burgers. Everything was great and something I would be willing to eat again- we put the pepper jelly on the tacos for some fresh sweetness, and also added it to the burgers. The view was quite lovely and the service was competent. My only criticisms: the location of the host stand to the heavy double doors is very awkward and it's unclear where people are supposed to wait; the presentation of the pepper jelly made it tricky to eat; and tapas is not at all an apt description of the delicious menu. I went here a couple of days ago and it smelled absolutely disgusting. It made me loose my appetite. Staff were also kinda hostile.

We love coming to La Crosse but get stuck hitting our favorite spots. This one just got added to that list. Menu has a lot of options and a nice drink menu. We had the Hot Spinach Dip and Steak Medallions, with roasted veggies, and soup. Everything was done well. Spinach dip was pretty average, Medallions were spot on. Service was decent although they seemed a little understaffed which seems to be the new normal. Look forward to trying a few more things on the menu. read more

Let me start this review by saying the service, ambiance, and wine was AMAZING. The Riesling is probably one of the best I've had; sweet and refreshing. For just those three things, I would give this place five stars. The drop in stars comes from the Cheese Journey off of the tapas menu. This cheese board really frustrated me since Wisconsin is literally the land of cheese. I scrolled through past photos posted of the Cheese Journey and noticed that they were on the right path early on with what makes a cheese board but it progressively got worse. Next time I'll steer clear of the board if they don't describe the cheese selection as artisan because local and imported could just mean what they did tonight and that was from the party platter you'd get from the grocery store. All the cheeses were sliced triangles. The "aged Parmesan" did not crumble or have that salty nutty hard texture or taste. The cheddar, colby Jack and pepper Jack were cubed cheese. Aside from slices from your grocery store cheese selection, the most appalling was sliced blue cheese. Blue cheese should be crumbly. Honestly you could get all the right cheeses from the grocery store but to me this just seemed cheap and not worth the $30. The stuffed peppadews for $9 are a better deal and a few other tapas or menu items for the price of this one. I'm actually sure anything else off the menu would be good. While 4 Sisters has a prime location in the heart of downtown La Crosse, the food was a little lack luster for our tastes. Overlooking the beautiful Mississippi River, 4 Sisters is a huge restaurant with a great looking outdoor patio. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The alcoholic drinks were good (I ordered a gin gimlet and my aunt ordered the Paloma cocktail on tap) and reasonably priced (I mean, it's Wisconsin). The food, however, seemed overpriced for the quality and portions. My uncle got the lasagna and said it was not super flavorful. I got the shrimp avocado tapas and they were just alright. We stopped in here on a Saturday morning at 11am when they opened, and holy cow....about 80-100 college students showed up at the same time (not an exaggeration!). I felt bad for all of the staff and cooks, because they got absolutely slammed. Despite this, our server was friendly, attentive and did his best to endure the chaos that ensued. The menu is vast, and frankly we had a hard time deciding what to get because it all looked amazing. When our food came out, it did not disappoint. We realized that we all could have ordered just about anything off the menu and shared with the rest of the table and been equally as happy. My pork carnitas were extremely tender and flavorful. The beef Empanadas came six to a plate and were very large and tasty as well. Next time we are in La Crosse we will probably stop in here again, but maybe for dinner instead of a Saturday lunch. read more

My son has a severe peanut allergy and informed them of this and they told me to bring my own food. No consulting with the chef or anything!!! When we walked in we were "greeted" by the hostess. At first we weren't sure if she heard us when we asked for a table. Her delayed response to that question was, "just so you know our kitchen closes at 9"...it was 8:15. Once seated we were more properly greeted by our waitress.
