They had hired day labor that showed up late and stoned, the son did 90% of the work, and complained often about what his mom agreed to, I agree we should of done some parts different, but she said all would be good. Bad estimate and initial assessment, she is suppose to be the professional. Not my fault. I still need to fix and complete the fence.

Oh boy, it pains me to write this review truly, but my husband and I are the ones out $650 with the…read moreworst fence gates in the world. (pics will be attached they speak volumes alone). I am a laid back person and not confrontational but the job done was and is completely unacceptable. I would like to share my experience from start to end. First off the professionalism was never there which threw up a red flag, they were supposed to come out for a bid, I made sure I was home and they cancelled on me. I reached back out ( I SUPER regret not following my gut, my impatience for the job to be done got the best of me) and they came out the next day they told me what they were going to do (keep in mind I don't know anything about building fences hence why I'm hiring someone) I stated I wanted my gates to look just like my neighbors and asked can this be done what do you recommend and what is the cost.Cost was not an issue for us, a quality job was our end goal here. Anyways they said they could come this weekend or the following week to set it up I said whichever is best for their schedule bc I'm flexible they said okay Monday. They called me and said they needed $200 upfront...... pause and just like let that raise all the red flags in your head. like Im the one who looks like a dumb*** bc I just should of known right then I was either helping them buy the supplies for the job or paying their electricity bill idk. So I go to the ATM get the money while he sets the concrete/pole on one side, then he lets me know that bc of x y and z he can't do something and needs to do x y and z to make it work and it would be attached to my neighbors fence is that going to be a problem...I said will this make their fence look different, do you have to go to their yard like does this effect them he said no and he just had to ask. So they continue on.. .After installed, my husband comes home thank god. Earlier he asked what shape I wanted the gate I said matching my neighbors curved, he brings to me a slightly curved on edges board with straight top and asks if thats okay and I said no I want it all rounded like my neighbors....then my husband arrived and he asks my husband if they are okay and I said ROUND/ CURVED. He also asks them to replace a board bc it was split all the way down. So we go inside we have a 9 year old and a 2 year old and he said he replaced the board. I go outside they had left and see the board they replaced they didn't saw and curve..so they are all curbed and the middle board is straight..its so bizarre how someone could do that and walk away thinking like yeah that looks like a job well done Im good to go. And on the other side I notice a board that is split half way down. So I let him know by telephone for me to be happy I need him to curve the board that he replaced to match the rest.....(isn't that obvious)...and replace another board. He said he could come in the AM I said I won't be there, but go ahead and do what is needed. When I got home and saw what had happened I was in shock. I wished I never called him to come back bc he made them look even worse. My gates are legit embarrassing. They are not sturdy they are not quality...I truly am concerned how someone could think my gates are aesthetically pleasing. Instead of a semi circle I have a ski slope. ... its awful. Also his wife spray painted the "adjust-a-gate" bc I said I wanted the hardware to be black....and she sprayed painted it on my front lawn...so theres black spray paint in patches all over my yard. Doesn't look awesome. And then she "touched up" some spots while it was already installed on my fence so theres like random spray marks on the fence...the whole thing is a joke. What I asked for was not delivered. I could go on more about what I said I wanted them to look like and he said it was no problem. Ps. Dont confuse A & J fencing with them...that was my mistake! I Was referred to use A & J and was told they were amazing and affordable...and accidentally hired J & A OH BOY. lesson learned. I am SUCH a dork.

Short Review: I would NEVER recommend this company ever again due to their lack of commitment to stand behind the quality of their company name, as guaranteed on their website. This company is NOTHING like what the previous owner, Brent, built and stood behind. Long Review: I have to agree with Brian F. in regards to the new owner Damon. He is extremely non-responsive. My husband and I worked with Brent, the previous owner, and he was EXCEPTIONAL! Truly! But, we had to reach out this year, 3 yrs after our three level $115k project was completed regarding some settling of some of the posts that needed to be shored up and hoped to get it done quickly. We reached out to Damon in early May 2025 to see about having it looked at. On May 19, 2025, Damon came out to take a look at the decks and said he'd reach out to someone who would be the expert in what would need to be done. After several attempts to receive an update from Damon with no reply, we reached out to the previous owner, Brent, to ask if he could assist in us getting a response from Damon. Finally, on August 5, my husband was able to connect with Grant and shared his frustrations of not receiving any update from Damon. Grant stated he'd talk with Damon and someone would get back to us. Damon called back and stated that the fix for the problem was 'tricky' and he'd be working with another vendor to come and jack up the deck, pour some concrete and get it cared for. That vendor reached out to us on August 26, and came by to assess the decks a few days later. This individual provided what he felt needed to be done and stated that he would let Damon know the solution. It took another 6 weeks of my husband trying to get a response from Damon as to where we were in getting this resolved and at least what it was going to take. We didn't know if Lifestyles would pay for the fix or split it with us or if we would be expected to pay for it ourselves, but we just wanted to have a reply so we could move forward. Today, my husband left another message, stating how we just needed to have a response and that we were concerned about the deck continuing to worsen due to coming into the rainy season. FINALLY, Damon called us back today only to tell us that he was not going to do anything in regards to caring for the repair and that he was 'sorry' that he had not communicated that to us when we initally reached out 5 months prior. He stated that the guarantee of the workmanship was not his problem as the work was done prior to him owning the business. He did not seem to care that the name or the reputation of the company could suffer due to his lack of 'good faith' customer care. I did share that if we would have known that, we could have gotten quotes and had it repaired during the summer months. Now that is the rainy season, will anyone want to take that on? Damon did not seem to care that we were extremely frustrated with the lack of communication and the lack of telling us up front that the responsibility of the repair would be on us. This company is no longer one that I would EVER recommend. You can see by my glowing review in May 2022 when our project was completed and the care that the previous owner, Brent, provided is CLEARLY not the same with the new owner, Damon. We are horribly disappointed.

Short Review: Damon, the new owner made this project take 7 months to do 3 gates and about 80 feet of fencing in total, which was never completed. He requested that we pay an extra 50% for the project AFTER we signed a contract. What work they did do was not made to spec, making a 4 foot wide swing gate to fit into a 3 foot wide opening. We had to fire them, horrible experience. Long Review: We heard glowing reviews from Life Styles Deck and Fence from several people, my parents included. All of the good word of mouth was from when the previous owner Brent was there. Towards the 4th quarter of 2024, Damon took over. When we were getting quoted they came by and drafted a contract for 2 double swing gates, 1 single swing gate, 1 stretch of fence that was 72 feet, and 1 stretch of fence which was 9 feet. We agreed and signed the contract in September of 2024. At the end of October they came out and did most of the 72 foot stretch of fence and demolished the old fencing we were looking to get replaced. After that we had silence. No work was done for several months. Every time I tried to reach out to Damon via email, phone call, or text, it was a coin toss on if I would get a response or not. When I did get a response it was some excuse pushing back the timelines. In January Damon did reach out to me. Not with a schedule, but with a plea that we pay him an extra 50% than what was agreed upon from our contract. 50% extra to get less work done. The contract signed said we were going to get steel frames for all of the gates, welded and powder coated. He asked me to pay 50% more and that would not include powder coating. It wasn't until March (6 months after signing the contract) when we started to get any sort of confirmation that something was getting done. Damon submitted a schedule of when work was to be done and completed. Of course this got pushed back several more weeks until when they finally arrived on site in the middle of April. The workers came by and installed the 4 posts required for the gates. After they left I went and checked on the posts and they were positioned incorrectly. The spacing for the single swing gate was a 3 foot opening. On the contract that we signed it specified a 4 foot gate. The posts are steel posts sunken into concrete, so this isn't exactly an easy fix. I sent an email, called, and texted Damon to confirm the gate sizes as this was now concerning. Radio Silence, again. I then got a call from one of his workers that has been there since Brent was in charge. They told me that Damon instead of having them coming to work on our property as intended by the schedule, had his workers send to a different project entirely. I was also told that the gate sizes made where not the sizes specified on the contract. So now I am stuck with gate posts in the wrong position, only a portion of the fence done, and an open driveway with no barrier to my backyard. Working with Damon has been a nightmare, by far the absolute worst contracting experience in my life. If you are looking for work to be done on your property, look else where.
