We desperately needed a new driveway and after contacting 3 local concrete companies we decided on 4way Cement and couldn't be happier. Josh was friendly, professional and knowledgeable and answered all our questions and provided a reasonable quote. Not only did we need a new driveway but we also decided on replacing the sidewalk and adding a back yard patio. Juan, the owner and his entire crew were so friendly and professional and really take pride in their work. October 28,2024 was tear out day and November 1, 2024 was pouring the concrete day. Everything went as scheduled and looks really great and definitely added value and curb appeal to our home. We can't wait to get back out there and fill in the surrounding areas with dirt and grass seed and finally get to use our stored patio furnishings. If you need concrete work PLEASE give them a call and I'm sure you will not be disappointed. UPDATED 11/17/2024 two weeks after my initial review. I emailed Juan the owner of 4WAY cement twice now since pouring our driveway on 11/1/2024 regarding the concrete sealer. He said he was going to seal the new driveway on Tuesday 11/5/2024 and both my emails have gone unanswered and the driveway still not sealed as of 11/17/2024. I do not recommend this company based on the fact that they're very unorganized. The "office manager' Liz works out of a home full of crying/loud kids, and its very difficult to coordinate/schedule any actual work to be done due in large part to the overall unprofessional business practices (Liz can never give you a set time/answer, it all depends upon Juan who is impossible to get a hold off/communicate with- if you like HAVING to constantly play voicemail tag, then Liz is your girl?!), immediately demonstrated by 'Liz' over the phone. Furthermore, we once called to finalize details of proposed work to be done and all we could hear in the background was a group of laughing/cussing people in the background- they apparently didn't realize that phone was still active/online- this was one of the final straws in deciding to take our $30K concrete job elsewhere and am quite honestly ecstatic that we did do this as we had also soon after come across reviews of Juan's workers actually urinating on customer's lawns (caught by home surveillance camera's)! On top of that the company that we did hire, did the same job for about $2K less and there was no circus side show antics from the front office (was very easy to get a hold of the owner/shot caller- unlike JUAN from 4 WAY who is only available/prompt when it comes time to sign the contract!) If you want LEGITIMATE concrete work done, with a professionally managed business (and FRONT office not a rodeo show/daycare) then definitely look elsewhere!!!! read more

When Juan (owner) came to give me a quote, he broke everything down for me piece by piece, explaining what they would be doing and why they would be doing it. This made me feel very confident to make the deposit. The job itself only took 2 days. His entire crew was kind and worked hard and efficiently to do a clean and honest job. My neighbor was beyond impressed. He watched from a far and made a point to call me to say "these guys took no short cuts whatsoever like some companies have in the past." 4WC replaced my front porch and added a patio to my rear porch. Juan and his team did a great job. The craftsmanship is exceptional and the job was completed in a timely manner (1 day to demo the previous areas and 1 day to build to the new porch/ patio). Although the cost of the job was reasonable, the quality of the job far outweighed the value - especially since this was "foundational" work. I would highly recommend 4 Way Cement to anyone looking for cement repair or replacement. It's probably unfair to say that any other contractor would be a waste of your time, but after tasting the bitter pill other masonry contractors, I can say with confidence that hiring 4WC eliminates your risk of disappointment. Great work is worth 4 stars, but a great clean up deserves 5 stars. The 4WC crew did an exceptional job of cleaning up the worksite and protecting our rose bushes. I had read the Yelp reviews & decided to give 4 Way Cement a call. From the very beginning, I knew we made the right decision! Our back patio was really awful! The previous owners of the house let the vines take over, and the wood was rotting when we moved in, and it had a built in gas grill that no longer worked. EWWWW! So, it goes without saying that there was a lot of demolishing to be done before they could even start! We asked them to include adding concrete steps to our front door in the quote & they were very reasonable. Juan and his crew did an awesome job! read more

An update on the stairs debacle and my interactions with the company thereafter: I emailed and left a voicemail for 4 Way the day this review was posted. They called me back a couple of hours later to discuss the situation. Their impression was that the city had approved the plans, which included the stairs as they were eventually poured and flagged, so that meant final approval was a foregone conclusion, even though it had never officially been received. Our two green approval stickers certainly gave that impression. I don't know enough about city codes to argue either way. I get where they're coming from, and if someone at the city dropped the ball that's certainly not their fault, but my perspective as a homeowner is that it's a contractor's job to be familiar with potentially problematic code requirements in the cities they service. Birmingham, for example, requires curbs, which they knew about from minute one of the job. They had me text them the picture I had of my two approval stickers from last fall. They let me know that they'd be talking to the city to try to come up with a solution and to give it a week or two while they waded through the red tape. They came out to look at the yard a couple of weeks later. They were eager to address all the concerns I mentioned in my review, though they were insistent that they had acted appropriately in digging the trench through my backyard for drainage. As I said to them, I get it--they didn't want water sitting on the driveway over the winter, they're protecting their work. Not the point--I simply want someone asking me before digging a 15' by 2' deep trench through the middle of my yard. They offered to take the bricks that were left behind, which I thought was a nice gesture. I pointed out the uncut expansion joint and they said it would be handled ASAP. During this conversation, they were eager to talk about every negative point of my review and ultimately asked me to consider changing it. I said I stand by my assessment of my experience, though I think it was mostly the fact that the company was in disarray due to Juan's hospitalization, hence my update today. I hope you will take the full picture of both the original job and these fixes in considering whether to work with 4 Way in the future. At that point, it seemed they'd been back and forth with the city and the city refused to release their bond and finalize the permit until the stairs were torn out and repoured. This was late in the week; they let me know they'd be back on Monday to do demo, and Wednesday AM early to pour the stairs. On Monday, when they arrived, my car was still in the driveway. They did me the courtesy of calling to let me know that my driveway would be blocked, so I might want to run home to move my car. The stairs were poured as promised on Wednesday early am--they were in at 7 and out before noon. The expansion joint was cut at that time. The stairs look great. I did have to pay to have an electrical outlet moved, which I imagine was why they designed the stairs the way they did in the first place, but at this point, $250 for this experience to be over is worth every penny. So, bottom line: this company takes their reputation seriously and will do what it takes to make a problem right, assuming they are operating at 100%. If Juan and Julian are involved, I would not base a judgement of future jobs on my experience in summer of 2017. I personally will not work with this company again because I think we're both tired of each other, but I am satisfied that they ended up making things right. read more

Juan explained the patterns and colours, showed us examples of previous work and offered great suggestions. If I had questions he got right back to me. His team are some very skilled hard workers. I found his prices to be very reasonable and I feel I got my money's worth. He poured 18 yards of cement around my pool, deck and walkway. He was patient and attentive to my needs after the tear out of the old cement to allowing me time for underground repairs that need to be done before the pour. We had a couple scheduling misunderstandings early on but once we sorted that out everything went very smoothly. Juan (the owner) and his team walked us through the whole process and reviewed all of the formwork placement with me prior to pouring the concrete. This was great since our driveway had some odd conditions and we were able to make some modifications on the spot. Juan wanted to make sure we would be 100% happy with the end result since it was a costly project, that was much appreciated. The crew worked fast and efficiently and kept our property clean. We are putting in a new front entrance and extended walkway in front/side/back of our home, and contemplating a new back patio/fire pit. It's a medium to large size job for our country home. We made arrangements for an estimate at their convenience, and my husband arranged and took off a half day of work to be home as they don't do evening calls. I sent our location, including exit number off of I-94, PRIOR to making the appointment, and confirmed our location to ensure that they serviced our area upon confirmation. The morning of our appointment, AT THE TIME OF OUR ACTUAL APPOINTMENT, the guy called to cancel saying we were "too far away". 45 minutes is too far. I respect a business owner's decision to make that call, however it's completely unprofessional and disrespectful to the customer to not plan ahead and manage a business in such a disorganized fashion that this could not be determined BEFORE plans and appointment confirmation are made. Zero apology. If you read other reviews, scheduling has been an issue with other customers. In a service industry, I expect much better & will gladly take my business elsewhere. When you're investing several thousand dollars you want the job done right and you expect a basic level of customer service and respect. Lots of competition in the area. If they want to grow, they'll need to do better. read more

After verbally committing to another company I had 4 Way come out for one last quote. I realized immediately that Juan was the right guy for the job. His professionalism and attention to detail was apparent the moment we started discussing my plan. Work was started on time and the crew showed up every day until the job was completed. They laid new cement throughout my whole driveway, but They did a crummy and quick job. It's been, but only 6-7 months and there are huge cracks throughout the whole driveway. The side porch step has sunken in the ground which is surrounded by a crack. Water leaks into the cracks which is allowing water to enter my basement. When I call to see if they would return to fix these problems they not only wont answer my calls, but not return the phone calls back or respond to my messages. I'm super disappointed that these people came and ripped me off leaving my home in serious distress!!!! I will be calling and reporting them to better Business Bureau. read more

My driveway had been a sink hole of mud for nearly a month and there was no sign that there was intention to complete the work and do it well. After finding great reviews about them, I called 4 Way Cement. They leveled the area so the water would run away from the house, used long boards to create a strong and straight form, laid gravel and compacted it... all the things a professional should do. Juan pour a stamped, colored large patio, long winding walkway and a short front walkway. Based on other quotes I received, he was really reasonably priced. He also only required a $250.00 deposit for a job costing roughly $6,600. I had other contractors requesting 1/2 down payment, which is never a good idea! I picked the shape, design, two colors and size of steps. Juan is a small business owner trying to juggle existing customers while securing new work. A rainy fall and finishing up jobs delayed the start time several instances. He and his crew did a good job. I am getting tons of compliments on the cement work. I am always present when any work crew is at my home, cement or otherwise. The crew was polite, cleaned up after themselves and made changes as I requested.
