Our party of four was headed south, back to Lincoln, Nebraska after a day of golf at beautiful Tatanka Golf Course in Niobrara, Nebraska. We needed an evening bite to eat and chose 411 Restaurant & Lounge. We were glad we did! 411 is named for its address on West Norfolk Avenue and it sits on the south side of a downtown street. It has very attractive outdoor seating with ample room and some privacy on half of it. We considered asking for an outdoor table but opted for indoor. We were promptly greeted and seated, and our seating location (at small round two tops in the back of the restaurant - near the kitchen and bathrooms) and that's one negative hit I'm giving this review. There were better locations open but given the 8:00 pm seating I decided not to push the issue. I'm sure they would have accommodated. However, a host needs to recognize that seating a group of four at two two-tops is not optimum and when four-tops are available they should forgo their server distribution methods and provide a better seating experience without the diner requesting it. Now let's get to what great about 411 - the people, the atmosphere, and the food! Their menu has good variety and creative options. We went with burgers and that menu gives you six different options. We went with the Classic, The 411, and The Jake Burger. All were very good with top rating going to the Jake Burger - Bacon, Fried Jalapeno, Fried Onion, and Pepper Jack Cheese. I asked for my Classic to be prepared medium, and it was medium well at best - so another negative hit on the review. The presentation of the burgers is exceptional with shiny Brioche buns on an ample plate, combined with excellent french fries - we went with the standard fry and the sweet potato fry, and both were very well prepared and seasoned. Fries are often where restaurants loose points with me, because their just an afterthought they throw on the plate. 411 treats them seriously and uses excellent product and preparation to do so. I also ordered a side salad with blue cheese dressing. This was outstanding - both beautiful in presentation and delicious in taste! Five stars on the side salad! The cocktails were very well made, and the bar staff were pros at their job. The attention to detail and training of the bartenders and servers is evident. They have a good kitchen staff also. I was able to watch them from our position in the restaurant (a plus of the otherwise negative seating location!). Overall, 411 Restaurant & Lounge is a great go-to for dining in Norfolk, Nebraska. Came across this gem while in Norfolk. We actually noticed it from seeing people enjoying the outside seating. We tried calling to see if they took reservations but the number listed on Yelp is not a working number. There is also not a link available on here to get reservations so we decided to try and walk in. They were busy and asked if we had reservations. I explained how the phone number on here is not working and no reservations option. The hostess explained they have reservations available on Open Table. So we will have to try that option next time. We were seated in the bar area close to the outside seating since none was available. This is a really cute restaurant with great menu and cocktail options. We ordered the special meatballs that were the nightly appetizer special. My family loved them. They had great seasoning but the inside was still too pink and mushy for my personal preference. My daughter ordered the chicken with mashed potatoes and I ordered the fish and chips so we could share each other's meals. The chicken is fried and really yummy! Not too dry. The fish is cod and battered at the restaurant. It is good but a little too fishy which is odd as cod is a very mild fish. My husband ordered the bbq burger and he loved it. For dessert we ordered the chocolate lava cake and it was delicious. We will definitely be going back again soon! read more

My colleagues and I found this place after a quick online search and were rewarded with some great cocktails, apps, and mains. They also have some excellent happy hour options and daily specials. We wanted to support a local business by ordering take out during the covid-19 pandemic, so this was our first time. Our order consisted of the shepherd's pie, the pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries, and a child's chicken tenders with fruit. When we arrived to pick up the order, it wasn't ready yet which is understandable as it was supper time. The order took an additional 15 minutes which gave me a chance to scope out the atmosphere. It's very nice, modern, and the music is catchy. The staff seemed friendly, if not a little unorganized. The pulled pork sandwich/fries were delicious. The children's tenders only consisted of 2 tenders, but the fruit side was pretty good. However, the shepherd's pie looked like a bowl of soup and was underwhelming for $15. We went to the 411 for breakfast a few months ago before leaving town as they are one of the few options in town. We were the only table and the server didn't look like she expected to have anyone in the restaurant, the seemed to be doing a lot of take out orders. The good my long mac was delicious. We all ordered mimosa, they were okay but we were never offered refills. No one in the group was impressed with their meal. Walked in and the hostess didn't look up for a few min, was typing frantically on the computer, and told us to wait. A two top shouldn't be hard to seat when the restaurant isn't half full. So after 10 minutes, we take our losses and sit at the bar. Hostess says 'thank you' - I shouldn't have to compromise my dining experience to convince you. Anyway. Sit at the ~empty~ bar for five minutes and nobody greeted us. So. We left. That is all. Every time I try to go here I'm more and more disappointed than before. We use to love going to 411. In the last year it seems as though their quality has really gone down hill. Their food and service use to be incredible , but now the service is always terrible and the food is not as good as it use to be. They had the best fish and chips in town , and now the fish is more consistent with a fish stick quality and you have to ask for French fries or they will give you potato chips. Recently we had a super rude waitress , who acted like every question we had or request we had was the biggest inconvenience. Wow! What an amazing surprise... A small town Indy restaurant that could hold its own anywhere.. I was in Norfolk for 3 days on business and the menu was so interesting, and wait staff so delightful- I ate there all 3 days lol. First night, superb skirt steak, locally sourced, with fantastic vegetables and a Justin cab...Next day, a fun breakfast choice, (open Saturday for a downtown festival) -"banana nut bread French toast", with pro espresso, and finally a nice low country shrimp and grits, where the large prawns were fresh and perfectly cooked- not overdone. Solid wine list, some interesting summer cocktails and desserts round it out. It's such a joy to find a well run local restaurant with a great crew that has skill and pride in their establishment. I really want to love this place but I've given up. Ambience is nice, bar is nice, design is nice for the most part. My biggest caveat about the building is the open kitchen, it causes a lot of kitchen noise and heat. It's not as bad if you go to to the back side of the building. Food - I have been in here several times and had experiences from 1-5 stars. One bad experience was my gf got the special! Waitress said it was the filet and lobster tail. When it came out It was a freaking tomahawk steak! Sorry but that's disappointing in itself. The food also took forever to come out, I'm assuming they were cooking the big arse beef. My food came out cold. Another time we ordered beer cheese soup, it was beer cheese dip, not soup!! The waitress was informed and became very defensive and rude about it. If a customer tells you their soup isn't soup, agree and move on. We eat out often snd we know what beer cheese soup is. The waitress brought out the cook and he became an arse about it too. Over cooked steak! Nice place, nice staff, however - I ordered a steak medium rare was brought to table well done. Ask server (she was very nice about it) to return the steak to cook and ask he try again. Second steak was cooked just as well done. The manager did deduct a glass of wine from my bill, but since I paid in full for the well done steak I took it home for my dog, of course the dog would have preferred it not be cooked well done too. read more

We decided to try 411 Restaurant for dinner for a nice evening out with friends. We did not make reservations and they were very busy, but we were able to sit in their outside area for dinner. It was fine outside of the flies but we made it thru that just fine. We were so glad to see our meal arrive - 2 chose burgers and 2 of us chose the chicken tenders with fries. The hamburgers were amazing and cooked perfectly. The fries were crispy and hot (one ordered the sweet potato fries and they were delicious). The chicken was crispy, hot and so tasty - the fries crispy and good! It was a lot of fun and the atmosphere outside was casual and comfortable. We went back again last night and enjoyed our meal indoors. It was just as wonderful as our first time. We've found our favorite restaurant in Norfolk and highly recommend it!!! read more

Our order took quite some time and after we were served, we were never checked on or asked about drinks refills. Had to go to the bar to get a waitress to ask for our check. Waited another 5-10 minutes for someone to take our money and ended up going back to the bar to pay the bill. I visited Norfolk a few days ago to connect with some of my peers. The restaurant was clean, bright, and modern. Nice ambiance and good vibe the minute you walk in the door. Hanna was our wait person and did a great job. Good attitude and fun. At the end, she helped out on a billing situation. Thank you for that. We had the following - Jake Burger with cranberry coleslaw. Great burger, but the slaw had to much mayo for my liking. Blake's Melt Turkey sandwich with potato salad. Large sandwich and the potato salad was liked. You will not go hungry with that combo. Grilled Chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Big meal and well received. Buffalo Burger with fries again was substantial and fresh. We had a great meal. We were there for about 1.5 hours and never felt like we were being pushed out of the restaurant. Nice job 411. Prices are very high for burgers. Do I recommend? Maybe if you got moldy money that's been sitting for a while and is about to burning a hole in your pocket. The place is very loud so if your looking for a nice pleasant place with low noise pollution I recommend going some where else. But the food is maybe ok... for the price. read more

Trip 1: lunch turned into lunch and mid afternoon snack all in same trip. Took 50 minutes to get our food Trip 2: called 4 minutes prior to arriving and were told that they had no wait and had a table for 4 that was available. Arrived was seated by the greeter after sitting down and ordering our waters he returned to tell us that the table was reserved for a reservation and we needed to exit the table and wait 30 minutes for one to open as we couldn't sit at the bar with our child. Nice new addition to the Norfolk scene. Expect something DIFFERENT when you visit 411 Lounge. I am writing this review after my first visit which was during their first few days of business. It is obvious they need to work out a few kinks, especially with training the staff. But it is also obvious that they have taken the time to work out the menu because the food is quite good. My wife had the Bison Meatloaf and I had the Shrimp Salad special. While the meatloaf was room temperature and came out suspiciously fast, it was very flavorful. She did complain about the sauce--a tomato/ketchup-based sauce--on top of the mashed potatoes. But that's a personal preference. The shrimp that came with my dish were definitely the highlight of the evening. Fresh grilled and really tasty. I would however not recommend the Sausage Sampler appetizer, as all three tasted the same--like hot dogs. I will definitely be returning especially once they get their liquor license. Looking forward to trying many new things at 411! Don't come here if you aren't a foodie or don't have an understanding that not all food can be as cheap as Burger King. read more

WARNING!! This place uses deceptive business practices and has hidden charges!! I ordered a Blackened Salmon Salad listed for $19 on the menu. Only to find out when I got my bill that there's an $8 upcharge to include the Salmon on my salad. They shouldn't list it in the menu as a blackened Salmon Salad if the Salmon isn't included. I had to make an account because I just can't get my experience with this restaurant out of my mind from today while visiting family. I'm going to start off with the good because, with all honesty the good outweighs the poor. The aesthetic that the owners have created is nice. It seems small from the outside but opens up to a dining room that can seat several other tables. It's very clean, even the bathrooms. I enjoyed that you can watch the cooks working and the expos checking the meals before they come out. They want the food to come out all at once which is great but when our meals all came out it almost seemed like they cooked it one meal at a time. But no matter, the food was delicious. Definitely above most of the "restaurants" this little town has to offer. The hamburgers were thick, juicy and cooked perfectly. The salad was simple and packed full of flavor as well. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into their menus and their cooks are very proud of their work. The only thing that wasn't enjoyable was two of the males working the front of the house today. I don't know if they were off or just having a bad day but their behavior and attitudes were less than desirable. There were two women running the front of the house as well and honestly I feel like our experience would have been a 10/10 has they been who we had to deal with. One gentleman just seemed like he would rather be any where but there. He wasn't our waiter but our waiter was so flighty that the other gentleman had to step in over and over again to get things. Our drinks took forever to get to us and we had to send the poor kid back twice because when we told him we were missing two drinks he hurried off and brought one but forgot the other so he had to go back. When our food was served there were sauces and one entire side missing and it was the same routine. Remind him that a couple things were missing he'd hurry off and come back with only one and have to run back. But I'm not even mad. He really did try, he just didn't hide his annoyance as well as we had to hide ours having to ask for things we were paying for repeatedly. Our waiter just needs a day off or re-educated and reminded exactly where he is serving. Yes this is a nicer restaurant for Norfolk but this is not nearly the town let alone state to behave pretentiously. Our waiter was at our table a total of 3 times. Once for drinks (that the other male had to bring to us and figure out from above) once when we ordered (again the other gentleman brought the food and had to do all the running) and then to collect our check and the tip. He never once checked on how the food was (the females did) and I wasn't particularly impressed with his jovial condescending attitude that people wouldn't know that "chips" were French Fries or bragging about how he told a customer from the previous day off because the customer misunderstood what kind of salad he was getting and how the waiter bragged about telling the customer "you don't get salads like you want in an establishment like this, if you wanted that you can goto McDonald's up the street". Like I'm sorry my guy but you're in rural northeast Nebraska in a town of 24k people. Bragging about talking to a customer like that to customers doesn't make you desirable and quite frankly your gossipy undertones and inflated sense of self worth took away from the aesthetic. I certainly hope they split tips there because the 3 people running the front of the house made up for his lack luster performance tenfold. All in all if you can avoid that waiter I think you'll enjoy this restaurant. The food and every other worker we ran into or were serviced by made this establishment one that you hope to see great success with. The worst upscale place in Norfolk. Our service was horrible, our waitress left halfway through service and didn't send another one over to take care of us. We left cash on the table and left. When who we assume the manager was, saw us leaving, he didn't apologize or ask to make it right-just told us to have a nice night.
