I had Henry and he did an excellent job. I felt like he took his time but on the same token I got done so fast! The place is small but cute. Everyone was friendly. I got a basic gel manicure. Call and make an appointment first! One complaint was at the end he asked me to wash my hands and there was nothing to dry them on. Otherwise amazing service and reasonably priced. Edit: I got my nails done at 12 and it's 2:30. I haven't done anything strenuous, I saw a movie after getting them done, and one is already cracked and about to fall off (see picture). This is the best place to get your nails done in Bay City, by far. It costs about $3 more per service than other places, and it's worth it. An acrylic fill is $33. Your nails will never be thick and chunky from here, and that is different from other nail salons. I see Mandy, and she is great! I look at the work others do, and their team is consistent. The owner and his wife have both done my nails, and they also both to an excellent job. This place also will actually give you a consultation on your nails, and I have never had that before, ever. I had never had anything but square nails before, and the owner talked me into coffin, and now I'll never have square nails again. This is the best nail shop around. I have tried nearly all of the nail shops around and either nails fall off or worse. Or speaking in another language and carrying on complete conversations while doing my Nails's. This is extremely rude. I moved here from the Tampa Bay Area in Florida and the choices for nail salons were endless. Not here, I'm afraid as I think I have been to almost all salons that people have recommended to me. The people at the salon speak perfect English which is a plus. It is not very nice when some salons speak another language right in front of you as they are doing your nails. They get quite busy, so I suggest an appointment. But they do walk-ins but you are taking a chance as the availability is limited. I have been coming here for about two years now and never have had a problem. They are located in the plaza that has Tropical smoothie and K-Mart. The prices are within the range of other salons. The owners, which I have got to know after coming here for awhile are awesome. If you speak English and feel uncomfortable at a salon that does not, or if you have problems at your current salon, this is the place you ought to be. The owners are married and the wife does my nails now. I just tell her what color and let her do her magic. Sometimes I just say "you pick out something." I was pretty disappointed with my manicure and pedicure. There is polish on the skin by my finger and toenails, and even when I pointed it out, it wasn't fixed. I am now left with sloppy nails and less money. read more

After awful experiences at other local salons, I was referred here by a friend. The salon staff are nice and were able to squeeze me in. She did a wonderful job and was the first to actually give me stiletto nails (no other salon could comprehend this even though I showed pictures?) The price is a $38 a fill.. which is a bit high if you ask me but to have someone who understands what I want and actually do it makes it worth it. I will be returning for all my future nail care needs. read more

I wish I could give six stars - these guys are amazing. I scheduled my Mom for a Mother's Day mani-pedi but didn't realize Grandma would be tagging along. When I called the day of to see if we could squeeze her in, they were totally booked. However, everyone was super friendly and they wound up not only squeezing Grandma in for her first manicure ever, but also gave her a pedicure! She has diabetes and her feet were not pretty, but the staff didn't hesitate to get her all squared away. In the end Mom and Grandma were both beaming and Grandma wanted to go buy a pair of sandals so she could show off her toes. She talked of nothing else for the entire weekend. Thank you so much 5 Star Nails, I'm very grateful for the way you treated my family and made them feel special!!! Not very impressed with this place. We went in on a Wednesday to get our nails done, the girls working were not very professional. One was even talking on her phone while doing my nails... I'm sorry but that is what breaks and lunches are for, not when you are with a customer. I asked how much a mani/pedi was while getting my nails done and the girl stated $38 dollars for regular polish (I had regular on my toes and gel on my nails). At the end when I went to check out my total was $51.... SURPRISE! Why didn't she tell me the price of the the mani/pedi that she was actually doing on me? Also as mentioned, I got gel polish on my nails and by Friday (2 days later) the polish was already bubbling. read more

Came here for the first time with my sister who loves to get her nails done. It was such a great experience! I can't remember the name of the lady who did my nails but she suggested what she thought I would like since I didn't know and I am so pleased! And I believe most of them are part of a family and they are all hilarious! They do decent work, but they gossip and talk behind other workers' backs - while their coworker is with other customers. I don't want to listen to your baby daddy problems or why so-and-so is a bitch while I'm trying to enjoy a little pampering. So trashy! I will never visit again because it was so uncomfortable.
