I am not a natural at pottery so I took the class again. I had a different instructor for the first round of classes than the second and both were really talented potters and teachers, clearly masters of their craft, and clearly deeply passionate not only about ceramics but about teaching it. I have since been going to open studio for about 1.5 years and it's such a special place! The kiln techs and instructors are truly passionate and there's even a local celeb potter there regularly as a tech who is an absolute wealth of knowledge and quite truly a master. There are a wide range of skill levels from more beginner (me) to intermediate to highly advanced folks, which is a really lovely blend in studio and everyone is so incredibly kind and supportive. I adore the ceramics community here and have made life friends from it! The studio itself: they have tables if you need to sit, a slab roller and LOTS of molds and patterns for slab building, several clay options (bmix, t2, porcelain), and a variety of glazes that they make in house, as well as commercial underglazes. They provide all the tools you would need, but if you need any specialty tools I recommend bringing your own. The wheels are well maintained electric wheels (and one kick wheel!) and there are options for folks in wheelchairs as well. It's a well maintained and cared for supportive space. I couldn't be more thankful. AND the wheels overlook a beautiful pond! What more could you want? If I could hope for one more thing it would be more glaze options, but they do already offer quite a few crowd-pleasers in the more neutral family of glazes.

I started taking pottery wheel lessons here about a year ago. On Saturday mornings at open studio,…read moreI'm pretty sure there's no where else on the planet I'd rather be. The studio is a great place to spend a four hour chunk of your life -- good light, about 15 electric potter's wheels (I've never had to wait for one), a plaster wedging table, a slab roller, and most of the tools you could ever need. You can choose between three high fire clays (porcelain, B-mix, and brown); each is $16 for a 25 pound bag. With its high fire gas kilns and beautiful glazes that make even slightly wobbly bowls look artistic, it's about as close as the general public is likely to get to a professional studio. Instruction is casual and provided on an as-needed basis. The main teacher is Danny Sheu, who is terrific on the wheel and a great instructor, too. Unlike other pottery teachers I've had, he won't waste time telling you that you have 'an interesting technique' if you're doing it wrong, but he's always happy to show you how to do it right. Just catch his eye if you need help. Beginners might prefer his more structured six week classes, but if you're a quick learner, you can just show up at open studio and ask for a lesson in the basics of centering, opening, and compressing. Some of the open studio regulars are professional or near professional potters, but everyone is friendly and willing to lend a newbie tools and advice. That said, no one is there to socialize, so there's plenty of space and quiet to concentrate on your own project. I consistently come out of open studio covered in clay and beaming. Cheaper and better than therapy any day!

My bff took the evening class and he shared his experience but I kept procrastinating. Finally my sister and bae pushed me to my limit because I've got nothing to lose. My employer will reimburse me a certain amount back for the tuition which I could not pass up. Second, having an additional cert will open up more doors in the medical field for me. As much as I hate blood, I stick children and teens every day. Lol... I chose the weekend class which is 5 Saturdays from 8am to 4:30 pm. Just remember you aren't too old to go back to school to make that dream of yours come true. My first day was absolute amazing. Our teacher was amazing. Her name is Lindsey Kline and she is full of positive real spirit, humor, honesty and direct. Lindsey works at a prison and her skin is thick. She is there for you every step of the way. Lindsey provides the guidance and support during Q&A and your blood draws. She's very responsive. I've completed my class yesterday and I know I will miss attending class. We had an awesome group of people that were always joking around, laughing and helping each other make our goals. Lindsey makes you feel comfortable and I loved her style of teaching. There aren't no shortcuts. It may seem like a short time of learning to get certified but she had given us all the knowledge we need and carry us through to prep for our NHA exam.

You get some lecture time and it's hands-on from there. The instructors are great and very good at what they do in and out of the classroom. The tuition you pay is worth every penny! You may be nervous to actually stick a needle in someone but after your first successful stick it gets easier from there as your confidence sky rockets! Student services is great and they're fast with their responses and they are very accommodating. I highly recommend this school if you're going into phlebotomy, EMS, PA school, Nursing school or jobs that require this skill. In 5 days I got 65 successful sticks in via straight needles, butterfly needles and capillary punctures! Great program for anyone!

It was the first time both of my girls had tried volleyball, and I was genuinely impressed. They enjoyed the camp so much that they now want to continue training and are confident they can try out for their school teams in the future. They told me the assistant coaches were also very nice, and the teammates were friendly and supportive. I had the chance to observe a few sessions myself, and I felt the facility was well-organized and, most importantly, safe and professional. We're very happy with the experience and highly recommend this program to other families!

I've participated in a lot of volleyball clinics/camps and played on a lot of teams. I was looking…read morefor a club where I could improve my skills, as I have not had very good coaches in my volleyball career thus far. This was very, very disappointing. Here's why: 1. Coach Feng does not coach at all. She sits on the side and merely watches. The "assistant coaches" that are actually "teaching" the kids are maybe 18 years old and it is very obvious they do not want to be there and have not had much experience coaching. 2. They are not encouraging at all. These are clinic classes, meant for the kids to learn. The assistant coaches are very discouraging and make you do laps as punishment when you mess up. After you finish running, they will ask you why you are doing so bad since passing and serving is a very 'easy' task. I heard kids behind me answer by saying, "Because we're bad." I think that speaks for itself. Also, every time a kid missed a serve or pass, one of the assistant coaches would put her head in her hands and the other coach would laugh/roll their eyes. 3. Safety is not a priority here. I had to keep telling the kids that there were balls on the court, which is obviously not my job. The coaches do not care if there are balls on the court, they will continue to throw the balls at you in the drill. Just from my one time there, I saw many close cases of people nearly twisting their ankles due to a ball not being moved off the court. 4. The level of play is not accurate. As an experienced volleyball player, i went to the advanced class. There were people there who have never played before. The owner doesn't care and just wants money so she pushed them into the class anyway. 5. The assistant coaches can't even play themselves. We didn't have enough people on the court and they decided to play with us (and were very reluctant about it). One of the coaches kept shanking the ball and serving out. 6. At the end when the practice/class is over, they call everyone together to talk. All the coaches said was, "Next time, let's run less. Don't make so many mistakes. We'll see you next week." No encouragement or "good job!" whatsoever. Don't come here, it's a total waste of time. I feel sorry for the kids who have to come here 10x and pay $350. I only paid $40 for a trial class, but that was still not worth it to me. Btw, while playing, I asked one of the girls if she was having fun and she merely shrugged.

He is probably the best instructor in the Bay Area, and he will get you confidently driving in no time! I did 9 lessons with Alan over a period of 1 month, and he took me from being not very confident (after trying out three lessons a different instructor) to passing my test and driving well on the freeway! This was done with zero practice in between lessons. Alan is extremely professional, is always on time, and delivers same day feedback. He also tailors his teaching style to the student's learning style, and is keen on understanding his students' thought process if mistakes are made, so they can be properly fixed. For every single weakness I had in my driving, Alan had a strategy to fix it - this included fixing my turning speed, correctly using my mirrors, lane positioning and keeping the wheel straight. He is adept at observing to see exactly what the student is doing wrong and coming up with a formula to correct it. Additionally, he is extremely professional. He was always punctual and polite, never raised his voice and never did anything that diminished my confidence in any way as a student who was initially struggling. I have always had some anxiety about driving, but I actually looked forward to my lessons because I started to enjoy driving as I could feel myself improving. On the day of the lesson, he made sure that I was confident and encouraged me not to feel anxious, and I was happy to pass on my first try. Scheduling is also easy on the website, and the response rate is fast. If you need to learn how to drive, you can't go wrong with Alan at Perfect Score!
