Just bought a ukelele from here to keep practicing as a beginner, they have good intro/beginner pieces up to more expensive and studier pieces. The range I saw was from sale items at 49.99 up to 200+, they have a good, moderate amount of choices at each level, with different brands and accompanying acessories! My ukelele is a soprano, a great beginner ukelele I was practicing with, got it for $75 with tax and a carrying bag included in my purchase, if I remember correctly, tag price was $69.99 I did ask if there was something similar to a brand/type of ukelele I started my practice with but I was then getting sold onto the more expensive pieces that I didn't have experience with and didn't ask for so that was a miss for me. Wish I got more of a relevant recommendation but the workers were sweet, they let us browse by ourselves for a good amount of time before stepping in (which good for me because I needed time to think, compare, and browse). When we went, there were a handful of other customers inside the store, it's located in a small shopping center but the store is bigger inside than it appears on the outside. The parking situation was just okay, not bad, could use a tad bit more space, we went ~1p the parking lot was full minus 2-3 spots but I noticed cars came and went from the time we got there until we left so it seems like there's a couple spots free at any given time due to the traffic coming in and out for small errands. Lots of instruments and accessories to be found inside and the workers seem to be happy to help find what is needed! Pretty well organized inside to find what you need on your own though, I was able to find the ukeleles quickly. read more

This is a local shop that rents and sells musical instruments. There are also private lessons on site. This shop is located in a small place, but I never had an issue with parking. Staff are very helpful and assisted with carrying items and loading it in the car. All my questions were answered and Don is very knowledgeable. My daughter decided she wanted to join band and play the flute. I walked into Music Village and was greeted right away by a gentleman in the front. I let him know I was there to rent a flute and he showed me two different options and explained how the pricing worked. He explained the whole process and what each charge was for. Overall, I had a great experience and surprised my daughter with the flute. Absolutely amazing place. I started taking drum lessons with Anthony in 2018, and stayed all the way up until I moved away for college in September of 2023. Lessons are about different aspects of your playing that you need to work on, and are always enjoyable. You'll learn rudiments, counting, songs, and notation so you can sight read. The best part is that after a while, you should be able to hear a song and dissect the drum parts all on your own. Also, finding a passion for drumming through these lessons over the years has taught me so much more than just drumming. Like being patient, confident, and striving to be better. When I was 14 (now 20), I didn't necessarily have these insights. I am very grateful for being exposed to these types of important values at that stage in my life. I was waiting for a pizza in the plaza across the street when I saw this music store. Walked in browsing and ended up leaving with a new ukulele! The store is definitely very messy and has a very cluttered interior, but it's not too difficult to find what you're looking for. Just so many aisles of sheet music! They had some fun instruments like kalimbas/mbiras, slide whistles, and bongos. They have a variety of different ukuleles: plastic, wooden, tenor, and even a pineapple-shaped one! Thank you to the owner, Don. He was very chatty and made sure we were aware that the ukulele came with a bag. I look forward to playing lots of music on my new uke. read more

Wow, what a terrible experience. Have used that store for 20 years, buying supplies for my musician children. Haven't been there in 10 years. Decided to support local, small business. Terrible idea. Owner/manager decided it was a good idea to berate an employee within earshot of customers. He was degrading and unrelenting in his criticism! I don't care what the issue was, your approach showed your lack of leadership and professionalism. I will never go to this store again. I should have said something in the store but did not want to get into a confrontation. Unfortunately, this woman employee likely needs the job and will have to deal with this person. Music stores like this are few and far between, now. Huge selection of sheet music and books. Good quality instruments for sale. My clarinet teacher Fred Rast is excellent, and I'm guessing all their teachers are good. Practice rooms for their students. Discounts on books for piano teachers (I am one). Only improvement I would wish for is wifi, so I could easily stream backing tracks while practicing. read more

Walked into the store to replace a broken string on the Cello. Very friendly staff, excellent price and quick service. They installed string and tuned Cello. Installation and tunning fee was so little that it was almost free. Also, while he was tunning the Cello he explained it and I learnt something new. Initially I was debating to go there due to distance but glad I went there. Store is nice too with good collection of equipment, books, and so on. read more

I've become a fan of this locally owned music store. All of the staff is experienced and knowledgable and they are shy about asking another staff member for assistance if taken out of their areas of expertise. I am particularly impressed with the repair shop and have made Music Village my first stop for any issues with my wind instrument collections. My only wish is that would carry more steel string and electric guitars and amps. This is because as a music teacher with many guitar students I'd like to be able to send them to Music Village but their selection while present is rather slim. Internet prices are going to be lower because they're not paying for bay area commercial rent, utlities and employee wages. I was pretty annoyed at that customer. We need to support local businesses. I've come here multiple times to get my child's instrument repaired or to buy supplies. I'm not sure what it is about this place but none of the people here seem especially friendly, and I've dealt with a different employee each time. Every time I step in there the atmosphere is a bit unfriendly and a little depressing. I will be looking for a closer music store as I only initially came here because the teacher recommended it. Don and the team at Music Village was kind enough to liaise and assist with the shipment of an electric keyboard synthesizer out to a Midwestern state. Even though the item was not bought in-store, the team was more than willing to help with the shipment. The team took meticulous care of everything in the package and shipment process. All I did was bring the item in. The entire process was efficient and reliable given that the item arrived at the destination on-time and in the same condition as I had brought it in. Let's not forget the amazing deal I paid to ship a ~40lb package that would have cost more than double if I were to pack and ship directly through a local courier service provider. Overpriced and terrible advice. I've tried to like this store on multiple occasions. However, they're horribly expensive and seem to prey on people Who know little about the music industry or other purchasing channels. In fact, a recent call to them to have a mouthpiece recorked was met with a recommendation to just buy another mouthpiece - really? At your cost of $40 to recork a mouthpiece I should just buy another one?! Ultimately, I ordered my own cork from Amazon and recorked the mouthpiece in less than 20 minutes for around $6.00. read more

Today, I'm doing my part: SHOPPING SMALL and LOCAL. Yes, I drove to a store, got out of my car, spoke to a salesperson who was very helpful, and purchased from a small business. My daughter sent me links to the three things she wanted on Amazon, so I showed the saleswoman, she found me comparable items, and I bought them. Yeah, it cost a little more, but (1) I didn't know what I was doing and she helped me through, (2) even though they didn't have the exact item she wanted online, I made a choice that I think she'll like, and I think that will make it mean even more (because geez, kids are spoiled today needing and getting EXACTLY what they want or else WW3 in tha house), (3) they offer a free re-stringing service that online can't compare or compete with, and (4) I picked up some fun toys for the other kids that they'll all be able to enjoy together.
