Loveee that they offer both vegan crepes and gelato! My sister and I stopped in midday to enjoy something sweet. I went with a vegan crepe filled with chocolate hazelnut spread, topped with vegan banana gelato. Bananas and Nutella are really meant to be. I enjoyed my crepe + gelato combo enough, although these versions were nothing like the "regular" crepes and gelato I've had. The banana gelato was just like blended frozen banana, and the texture of the crepe was rather spongy. However, the chocolate hazelnut spread made it all pleasantly edible. My sister however said her vegan lemon sugar crepe was one of the worst things she'd consumed in a while, ha. The prices are pretty standard, I'd say if you are strictly vegan/plant-based give my combo a try, or perhaps just stick to gelato... the chocolate flavor option looked a bit creamier. read more

Read about this place on TripAdvisor and decided to give it a go! I accidentally ran into this place, forgetting which village it was in but so happened that I got lucky! The flavors they had today were very simple, such as strawberry, cherry, chocolate, mint, etc. Nothing too out of the ordinary even though I have heard they have a 5 terre flavor. Got the kiwi and fior di latte; 2.50 euros for two scoops in a cup. YUM. They perfectly paired well together and this is the first time I had kiwi in a sorbet/gelato form. They charge .20 for each taste and add an extra .50 if you want a waffle cone. Very small place but not very hard to miss! read more

This entire little shop in Cinque Terre's village of Manarola was also entirely gluten free. I read about 5Terre on someone's gluten free travel blog and am so grateful for the suggestion. I had my first cannelloni since being diagnosed gluten intolerant. Even if you don't have a gluten free diet, this gelato spot is a must visit. Of all the dark chocolate gelato my husband tried, this place was his absolute favourite. There was a perfect balance between bitter and sweet. The flavour was rich and deep, and the texture was light and smooth. I tried the egg with lemon zest, one of the more popular and traditional flavours and yogurt. I am a huge fan of frozen yogurt desserts in general and I absolutely loved the gelato version here. The scoop was smooth and delicate with the perfect amount of tang and sugar. I enjoyed the subtle egg flavour with a pop of brightness from the lemon zest. I wish I had a chance to revisit and try other flavours, but they closed by 7pm, so unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy it as a dessert after dinner. read more

Great location!!! We stopped by after lunch and opted for flavors like strawberry grape (which is more like a sorbet), pistachio, coffee, and one that I cannot remember the name of but it had chocolate and nuts. All the ones we tried were wonderful so I highly recommend them. There is a small bench outside the shop to sit if you want to enjoy the gelato while people watch. read more

Perfetto! My husband and I enjoyed gelato as an afternoon snack at Cinque Terre Gelateria. I ordered the fior di latte, and my husband ordered kiwi and lemon gelato. Both were amazing. I'd heard of fior di latte gelato but had never tried it before -- I'm so glad I did! Not only was it very vanilla in flavor, but it was extremely rich and extremely creamy. I was pleasantly surprised at the kiwi flavor for my husband's gelato. I would have expected kiwi gelato to have a light flavor, but BAM! -- his gelato was super flavorful and delicious! We also ate gelato the day prior in Corniglia, and the Cinque Terre Gelateria gelato in Manarola definitely wins. read more

We ate gelato here our first day in Cinque Terre, which was also our first day in Italy, and I loved it and probably would have given it five stars at that point. But we went on to have better gelato in Vernazza at Gelateria Vernazza and then even better gelato in Rome, so in hindsight I think it's more of a four star place. The portions are also on the smaller side and the people working here are not the friendliest, so I think four stars is fair. But it's definitely very good gelato. (I would say there's no bad gelato in Italy, but we found some in Riomaggiore - there's almost no bad gelato in Italy though.) I will admit that even though I had bookmarked this place based on Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews well in advance of our trip, I almost walked out when I saw the sign that most (all?) of their flavors are vegan. I have nothing against vegans, but vegan versions of dishes that are supposed to be non-vegan almost always taste terrible to me. This was the exception though! I had dark chocolate and coffee flavors and both were excellent. I never would have guessed they were dairy free if I hadn't seen the sign. not one of my favorite gelato places we visited in italy, but i really respect the fact that they do gluten free gelato and have edible spoons and cups (although i must point out that if i wanted an edible cup i probably would've just gotten a cone). gelato choices are a little limited in this area of manarola so you get what you get. my only complaint about 5 terre gelateria was that the gelato tasted healthier than other gelato places we visited. again, i appreciate this, but if i'm getting ice cream, i want the unhealthiest tasting ice cream possible. same with gelato. i'm on vacation, give me the best tasting, worst for me kind. service was great read more

I ate here twice during my stay in Cinque Terre. Both times great! I tried sorbet and gelato on different visits. 2.2€ for 2 scoops or 1.8€ for 1. I liked the lemon sorbetto the best. The woman that works here is really sweet and if you show up right when they open you can see her still making some gelato which is really cool! read more

From all the gelato places we've had in Italy (and we've had A LOT), this place is the least refined tasting. Gelato is very sweet... too sweet... American sweet. The Granite is just basically slushy, instead of from fresh fruit. But, it is the closest gelateria from the train station. read more

Believe it or not, there is a lot of mediocre to bad gelato in Italy. The tell-tale sign is if the flavor signs are branded and printed on pre-made laminated signs (usually by a big company that mass produces gelato), if the gelato piles high above the tray it is in, and if you are on the main drag of a touristy area. Instead, look for a place slightly off the beaten path, like here, where they hand make the gelato in house in small batches that usually sells out each day. With such a small scale, you can try the best fruit flavors that are in season, such as persimmon, pear, tangerine, etc. In addition, the sugar content in this small places is a lot less meaning you get a lot more real fruit instead of fillers. The only real problem eating gelato at a place like this is that once one is done you want another, even if you don't really have a sweet tooth. Remember the gelato rules above and you will do a lot better on your quest for some of the best ice cream on earth. read more
